My impression is that the flag designers knew little about their history, not to be blamed after two thousand years of slavery and conversion by the Romans, then by the Turks, they didn’t even realize the cross they put on the flag, a symmetrical cross, is not even the Christian cross which I find very silly, do you?.

Silly assumption...lots of symbols that characterised Greeks through ages are not on the flag, but it doesnt mean that Greeks have no respect for them.
