What year is this set in? For a while since the first film I had wondered if it was really early 18th Century or maybe even late 17th Century. To be fair, that is more accurate to history. The first English flags flying in the Caribbean would indeed have been the England Flags, then the Union Flag, then the modern British Flag as we see on that ship. If it is set during the 1756-1763 Seven Years War, then by this time the British were easily a Super power. The French Navy was no match for the RN

they're all a bunch of pussies afraid of mermaids, in real life they would have been more concerned about waging war against the french navy as the 7 years war was raging at this time.

its wierd because he is supposed to be in the royal navy however, in the plot description it says he's a privateer which would have been a privately owned vessel operating under the English flag.

The soundtrack for this movie is hands down my favorite one so far. Other than "Up is Down" from At Worlds End.

Surprisingly, besides Barbosa, the Spanish in this movie were my favorite characters.
