It's more than likely a good piece of sky video, with the spaceship model blue-screened in behind the trees, then after that the blur, contrast, choppiness was added. It's a common technique, to de-res both the source and matte images after they're composed because it gives both 'realities' the same effect, blending them together as a unit.
