  • @chrisblekos yeah well im bored too.. theres no soul lol

  • this is the real McCoy. no b.s.

always good to come visit this video again.

  • red bull gives you wings !! haha

    Origin Rules !

  • This drummer is as good as Derek "One shot" RODDY. Just feet position is very particular, he's so far of the bass drum pedals !

  • I hate John Longstreth...Because of guys like him, people thinks that blasting is easy..Damn, how can this fucker look so relax while doing THAT?

  • This guy is incredible,he is among the extreme metal drumming elite

  • that on and off hi-hit work is so sick

  • 0:53 awesome double-ride.

  • kinda looks like allen from the hangover

  • @Sk3tch22 Galifianakis!!!!, man, i'm watching "Gigantic" and i've got "it's kind of a funny story" somewhere, the first thing that i note was that!!!, hilarious!!!. And also: Blast beat with one foot (not so fast but outstanding of course), left foot: heel down (i guess ulrich plays like that, well, kolias said that, this give you much more balance than boths heels up, i little less speed, but much more balance) .Oh!, and a guy screaming "BOB SAGET!!!" maybe the Tourette guy.

  • @angantyr86 i love how he still can close the hi hat on the left side and still hit the left kick pedal at the same time and stay on tempo..its just gross

  • Comment removed

  • @Sk3tch22 Yeah, i love even more the calm, the serenity, he makes this thing looks very easy... and the beard of course. He looks like Zach Galifianakis so bad...

  • So relaxed.

  • without breakin a f..ck.n sweat what the hell!!!!!

  • Like if you think he looks like Allan from The Hangover :P

  • moar liek LEGSTRENGTH rite. But in all seriousness, dude's fucking fast.

  • he looks like Zach Galifianakis :D

  • Comment removed

  • It looks like he's either shaking with fear, having a panick attack or is sitting on a big vibrator.

  • OMFG ITS ALAN FROM THE HANGOVER

  • @itsSWAGGASAUR lol. i was thinking the exact same thing

  • we need a festival with Nile, Origin, Psycroptic and Serpents Rise or something °_° Imagine Kollias, Longstreth, Haley and Roddy all on one stage.

  • @dubbe186 Add Cryptopsy, Necrophagist and Dying Fetus to that list ;-)

  • @dubbe186

Having Kollias and Haley on one stage is just o_0 already lol

  • his legs are barely bent.

  • I wonder what's going on in his head

"*yawn* ....huh....oh look I'm blasting, hehehehehe."

  • zack galifianakis form due date and the hangover plays metal

  • not too fast but weak and boring like shit. this is what i call untalented. blast beat on two feet is fake and poser

  • @mitzuzauru Shut up! You can't do it better!

  • @mitzuzauru Boring? What video were you watchin pal. Anybody who thinks this vid is untalented is obviously the fake poser

  • @mitzuzauru boring? john is one of the most creative death metal drummers in history, so people who comment about things they obviously know nothing about are "fake and poser"

  • @mitzuzauru i do happen to agree with youu :P this is boring not gona lie. john rice is where it's at. i know im gona get hate for this. wah -_-

  • I bet he comes home and when his wife/gf asks him about his day, he answers: "just another day at the office"

    awesome face :D

  • i love how he looks so casual when he's ripping up the drums

  • Lol at the crowd xD

  • his legs are almost straight...

  • @SyMan91 This must be called the Longstreth's Longstretch.

  • Looks like Alan from the hangover filled in for this show

  • @blackasian1234 dude... mindsplosion, I can't unsee it

  • @blackasian1234 I thought the exact same thing.

  • best drum video ever. i've seen it a million times, and it never gets old for me.

  • Rocket Shell Drums!!

  • lol he looks like a big hippy or something with the face hair and headband, don't really expect this outta him!

  • this ones called-BOB SAGET!

  • his legs are almost straight...that is so wierd

  • bob sagget lmao

  • fuckin genious.

  • shannon lucas is like a machine, i know hes not as fast but his drumming is powerfull and tight

  • I wish you guys could hear the triggers clearly on this video, your minds would be blown even more.

It may not look like it but his feet are just as tight as his hands when he plays. Some dudes are fast but very few are this clean.

  • dude have you seen him live recently? during summer slaughter his feet were at like 260 easy and all perfectly clean

  • @theneongray George. Kollias. /thread

  • he looks bored...

  • precision, technique - JUST unbeliveable... nothing more to say ...

  • Lol Lars Ulrich wouldn't stand a chance against this dude! Even the intro is to hard for him lol :P

  • is it so FUCKING weird?! Lars is what... 44 years old?! He never practised blast beats, he plays a total different genre!

  • The most technical drummer with the hands would be Alex Pelletier of Despised Icon. But the two drummers with the fastest feet would be John Longstreth and George Kollias.

This is just my opinion, so don't give me shit!

  • and raymon herarah* sfs of fear factory, mike portnoy it out of conrol too w crazy beats and speed (yeah he has other shit than dream theater)

  • For feet : Tim Waterson :P He does double strokes like Longstreth, but 350bpm 16ths, atleast Tim said he gets that speed with double strokes.

  • if u want to hear some insane double bass listen to the chosen legacy by dimmu borgir

  • That's fast, but I rather listen to Nile, Permitting The Noble Dead To Descend To The Underworld lol

  • With hand ? Check Denis rondum

With feet check the drummer from Henker ;)

  • @Oriasis failbl0rg

  • I dunno. You gotta add Gene Hoglan, Flo Mounier, and Marco Pitruzella to that list. Gene's bass speed is just retarded, Flo's hands are CRAZY, and Marco blasts at over 300bpm.

It's really hard to rank people when they get to that level, they're all insane hahaha.

  • HellHammer* caugh *

  • Marco Pitruzella might have fast blasts but they're some of the weakest I've ever seen.

  • i have to agree he doesnt have alot of power which is a very important thing about blast beats

  • Great name!

If anyone is looking for a fast blasting drummer with some strength behind it try: PETE SANDOVAL

  • @Pennyroyal07

    2 Words........well 3 actually

    Mike

    Fucking

    Smith

  • @Pennyroyal07 Jesus grow up. We know who sandoval is please.

  • @Pennyroyal07 and his playing is kind of "standard", Longstreth has a crazy approch of blasting and drumming in general

  • true dat man. he can blast fast but can't move around the kit. john puts him to shame. also, if anyone is interested, the drummer from dark funeral has VASTLY improved. check out their new album

  • after years of watching this video i just realized how epic johns playing style is: it made me totally unaware of how shitty that crowd is.

  • fuck he makes it look so easy...The assholes who think Lars Ulrich is a great drummer should check this out

  • lars ulrich,travis barker,joey jordison..theyre so overrated

  • @sk8nmetalpsycho So true... Underground drummer FOR THE FUCKING WIN <3

  • @sk8nmetalpsycho travis barkers style is way different

how can you compare him to a drummer like this?

he plays rap beats for the most part now

    hes extremely solid and consistent

His work with blink 182 especially on take off your pants and jacket is incredible

anthem part II? his drumming in that song in particular is amazing

  • @AmongKings eeeehmm.....i didnt compare travis barker to john longstreth?

im just saying these drummers (only job is the same) are overrated...

i admit i used to think they (except travis) were among the best drummers in the world

    ...FAIL!

  • @sk8nmetalpsycho not to mention equally pompous.

  • @sk8nmetalpsycho completley different though

  • @guitarlonextreme right you are.

  • @sk8nmetalpsycho LARS ULRICH IT'S NOT OVERRATED.HE SUCKS!

  • @sk8nmetalpsycho theyre so shitty

  • Dude lars is just popular, But yeah man I wish everyone could see stuff like this.

  • I know man, just pokin' fun at the Lars fans..They get so butthurt over my razzes

  • ma porco di un dio!!!!!!

  • FUCKING LEGEND how cool is he?

  • favorite drummer of all time

  • It's hilarious how he sits with his legs almost fully stretched :))

  • AHAHHA Bob SAGET!

  • zach galifianakis shred on drums i guess..

  • exactly what i was thinking.. lol

  • BOB SAGET

  • umm ya im not gonna be able to play any of this stuff any time soon that freehand blast is absolutelty insane

  • its just to bad thats all hes got if u listen or watch any other videos hes really just a mediocre drummer with fast blasts and double strock rolls his fills are nothing and his technicality is not there either hes just fast

  • um i strongly disagree gorguts picked him for a reason there stuffs not insanely fast but really technical but it's your opinion and im fine with it i just think you should buy one of origins albums so you can hear whats all going on

  • i have antithesis?? so i know exactly whats going on when he plays and on here you can watch him record the album so you can see him just drums

  • listen to the song antithesis. there is sum very creative drumming there.

  • i have the fucking album and listen to it every day.....i know how he drums ive seen him live and in drum cam vidshe does drum technically but hes no legend or god or the best that alot of people have stated in these comments

  • ur statment was dumb, in terms of tech death metal there are few who could test john at those tempos and play with more creativity. u said he was mediocre.....i think not.

  • well i think so! its a matter of opinion and i think there are alot more techy than him hes just fast my opinion urs is different simple as that....and i think ur statement is dumb i have the album i like the band i like him as a drummer but to say he is the best or most tech is just not true

  • @thispagesux - definately not mediocre but lyle cooper from the faceless and navene koperweis from animosity own

  • BOB SAGET

  • Excuse me, but which song do they play on this video?

  • Perversion of Hate and Portal

  • Thanks! Pity it's hard to figure out his gravity blasts on recordings:(

  • "Perversion Of Hate" from "Informis Infinitas Inhumanitas" - My personal favorite Origin song of all time.

  • Thank you! John is a fucking sick blast-machine!

  • No problem

  • BOB SAGET!

  • amazing physical ability

  • Someone shouted BOB SAGGET LMFAO

  • everytime i watch this video it makes me want to work on my hands for 3 hours straight. =(

  • this guy make its look so effortless haha!

  • stop listening , and more important, stop posting coments

  • pretty sure i just told you to stop posting comments. must you disobey your master?

  • boooring

  • the shot pronounce at 0'57 is genious.

  • Stop comparing drummers.

  • totally... i love johns fill at 2:40.

  • Derek Roddy couldn't play Origin material. Period. Even he would agree.

    John is the best.

  • lol! That was funny man.

  • And true!

  • Why do you want compare them? There's no need to do that. Both are great drummers, both are badasses... Just because you dig a lot longstreth's work is no reason to bring down someone else's work of YEARS. Derek is a much more experienced drummer than what John is, and I could go on... The only thing we need to know is that both are awesome musicians and are such a great inspiration for the metal community. Cheers!

  • siddog7 compared them, not me.

And I disagree about Derek being a more experienced drummer. He likes to come off that way by saying he is a world class drummer and is worth no less than $50,000 per album (yes Derek actually said this).

Derek got popular mostly from youtube videos, and generic fast playing.

  • Oh, really? And for what is famous longstreth?

I know Derek sells his work for that mount of money but he really exposed why he is charging that, not only said it because he feels a deity. It's such a long explanation to bring it here, but he was charging the studio work, tour expenses (gas, food, etc), and some other stuff that I can't remember. And if you remember, he was only charging $10, 000 for a studio album without tour and else. Why does he do that? 'Cause he's already been --

  • through all that bad experiences his ex-bands that didn't give him any money back, despite of, he made such an excellent work as a musician...why you think he left hate eternal and, practically, the metal community? Because there's no true feedback all the way, you only find yourself investing n' investing money, and at the end you're broke down and in the street without nothing, even though YOU TOURED THE WORLD.

  • Do you really think the metal community is such a happy society where everybody gets the true payment they deserve? It's time to grow up and make your work get the value it really deserves! People doesn't live only with beers n' kids suckin' you up on the internet or after a show. You need something for your own and the ones that sorround you.

  • derick roddy was denied payment?! oh my he's famous for a reason, he is awesome

  • Hate Eternal failed because their music sucked. Derek had some kind of mental breakdown because he couldn't believe his awesome band weren't world famous.

They could make no money on tour. Same with many bands, you do it because you like the music but Derek was different, he thought he shouldn't suffer in the band because he was the real star. He is a prick.

When it comes to team work Derek would probably be the first one to bitch and demand money when none is being made. Hilarious.

  • no he defenitely can, its not that hard for him, based on his videos. george kollias and romain goulon as well

  • BOB SAGET!

  • Derek Roddy could kill him

  • John would resurrect and kill roddy for eternity.

  • I agree with you, this guy John is awesome but Roddy can kill him if he want to but anyways Roddy and John are amazing drummers, cheers

  • this guy's just inhuman.

he's as relaxed as if he was performing a pop/rock song ;)

    awesome

  • lol. i dont know my death metal drummers but this guys pretty fuckin good

  • check out daray from vesania and dimmu borgir, he can blast at lightning speed.

  • WHAT???? you compare the drummer of ORIGIN with the drummer of dimmu borgir??? doesn´t matter how much somebody blasts (i´ve have a lot of dimmu albums and all origin albums and origin is definitly faster) it´s the playing in all and their is origin miles away from dimmu borgir...

  • lol thats why i said check out daray. i didn't say check out dimmu borgir. if you listen to this is the war by vader or any vesania album you will realise that daray can easily play at the same speeds as longstreth.

  • No.

  • Mike Smith is definately an innovator in the blast technique, playing the snare simultaneously with the kick drums, but the style was probably first popularised with Napalm Death. Mind You, on Genghis Kahn by Iron Maiden, Clive Burr plays a bit of a blast beat on that

  • it's not a blast, the ghost notes he is using in the beat give it a constant snare sound but he is actually playing the same beat as the start of phantom of the opera.

it does sound a bit blast like though!

  • John Longstreth is THE blast master, better than Mike Smith and David Gray

  • thats a tough call, john is faster but Mike kinda invented it and he hits much harder than longstreth, David Gray is amazing too though =)

  • i would say pete sandoval is responsible for blasts as we know it. he was one of the first to do blasts in alternate 16ths.

  • i agree with all of you guys but i honestly believe longstreth perfected blasting.

  • ummm ok drumz kinda awkward but thats his style. i am not too fond of his drumming, John Rice is much better.

  • you're a fucking moron

Longstreth rips all over Blowjob for a Cowboy

  • he's a huge influence on my drumming

  • Longstreth is simply brilliant. Goddamn.

  • i have a lot to learn...

  • ditto...............

  • BOB SAGET!

  • I saw them in concert live a few months ago, stood at the side of the stage to watch Longstreth play. We stood there doing nothing but trying to pickup our jaws. Guy has everything I would love to accomplish as a drummer.

  • WHAT THA FUUUUUCKK!!!?!???? haha no fuckin waaayy duuudee!!

  • Lol, I've seem them three times and John just sits there and rips. I love his cymbal work.

  • Fantastic player and example of the pinnacle of extreme drumming.

  • my drum teacher is friends with him :)

  • 0:36 one foot using two pedals man! genius

  • him and derek roddy man. him and derek roddy...

  • Love how someone yelled out BOB SAGET in the beginning haha

  • lol i rememeber those vids

  • is that his trigger he keeps tweaking with by his left leg?

  • do you even know what triggers are?

  • that was some good comment by niatras : DD

  • that's what we in the business refer to as, a pedal xD
