i find making houses out of raw wood is cool, or tree houses, raw wood posts (like holding up a deck to ur home) rebuilding a tree, or building a tree and use a invedit to get the leaves to fully make a tree..

I think picks and shovels lasts for the same amount of blocks. But since digging is faster than mining they wear out quicker time wise.

I burn through shovels as well. That, of course, is probably because I take the time to remove any dirt or gravel I see from my lovely mine. MOST of the time it reveals some good stuff. One time, though, it dropped a zombie on my head. So eh.

But gravel does eat away at shovels a lot and I go through them a lot quicker than I do any other tool.

combine steel bars and flint for making fires and so you dont have to use a furnace to smelt and it is instant so you dont have to wait 10 min for 40 glass or 40 steel or whatever you want..

With raw wood you can make your own trees without those annoying leaves!!! But seriously raw wood will burn forever(as long as less than 3 sides are on fire) and is brighter than torches so They can be useful if ur low on coal or just want the outside to look kind of cool.

@MrTebiko u use the dust, as like, um.... have you ever watched a cliche movie, wheresomeone has a box of tnt, and they have a long wire, and at the end of the wire, there is a remote detinator... think of it that way, but its not limited to tnt. you can use it with levers on doors.
