  • awesome video so comprehensive i have liked and subscribed to you

  • have i must Korg KONTROL Editor for playing any melody in any program? (sorry 4 my english)

  • ***REVIEW FAIL*** @ 1:35 the PITCH DOWN button sticks and you can see it stays that way for the rest of the video. He totally notices 'cause he hits the button 5 times to try and unstick it.

Product breaks right out of the box and he doesn't say shit about it. WTF kind of review is this?

  • wait a second.....is the nano series a software only device?....or can i just use all hardware and never touch a computer?

  • @JavaSpitLava no, its a MIDI controller for controlling software instruments or for using with a MIDI sequencer.

  • @sonicstate how disappointing....i know my opinion is a very odd one...but i find most software discouraging and very overwhelming to the eyes.....i dont know why they cant just make it simple and easy like the actual machines...

  • @JavaSpitLava but at 49 bucks, I'm not sure what you would expect. If you like little check out the Teenage Engineering OP-1 (pricey)

  • @sonicstate its not that i like little...im just trying to do a bit of scouting for a MIDI controller that will allow me to sync the GAIA Sh01 and the Elektron UW for live performance....im going to look up that teenage OP though....i enjoy learning about new equipment....

  • please do the pioneer ddj-s1 :)

  • Hey I was wondering if I can also use this like a MPC, and what genres I can play with it. Can I also make Hip Hop and Experimental beats with it? And last: What do you recommend for my use, M-Audio Keystation 32 or Korg Nanokey 2?

I hope someone can help me!!! Thanks

  • ANYONE KNOW HOW TO FIX LATENCY IN FL STUDIO????????????!! THX

  • @OfficialRRRMusic get a better computer

  • Thank you for a fine video review!

  • very compact perfect for uni :)

  • My NanoKEY worked perfect for a couple days but now it has horrible latency.

  • do you have to get your own sounds for it?

  • NanoKEY 2 Review?

  • is the software free?

  • Im new on this, and I wonder if you need another device to make your korg function... Im about to buy one if this

  • really good review/demo :)

  • anyone knows how to velocity lock this?

  • boy games for people that are into music..... :P

  • Comment removed

  • i guess i mean like a usb to midi cord?

  • Fuck this shit is slow, takes a second to get the hear the hit

  • @vargarna87 It isn't the controller , it is you audio drivers. You can download AISO 4 All wich is a very good low latency driver for windows. The native drivers for windows just sucks so download AISO or get a custom soundcard before you complain =)

  • @Rasmus9609 Thank much

  • will it work on pc?

  • love my nanokey. <3 perfect in reason and ableton.

  • @kendallbob Think it works fine on FL?

  • @norwegiantechnolover Definitely, go for it! :)

  • @kendallbob Sweet, ordering a NanoKEY2 asap!

  • ive seen it for 10 bux

  • have to say i hate my nanoKey. Dont buy one! The action is totally unacceptable.Although its adjustable it takes 4 times more effort to get get a good level. I think this review should have mentioned that.

  • Okay, how do you "record" it, or make something you play to a media player file fx?? somebody knows????

  • Sonic. LAB. T-bwbwbwb.

  • its the worst shit ive ever layed my hands on, F***... its so plastic, like some shit arriving with a cornflakes package. first thing that happened was a key fell off when i tried it. BUY akai lpk 24 instead, its 10000 times better, its a promise :)

  • Hello

I'm new on the keyboard/piano thing. Can you plug in headphones and just play? Or do you have to download programs on your computer and plug in into there?

  • @NielsUHP10 the nano key is only a midi controller so it doesnt have its own stock sounds but it does come with like a digital version of the korg m1 keyboard you just need to read the instructions and itll tell you how to do that. I use mine with fl studio and i like it alot

  • @ooohnanana how do u use this in fl studio? I cant get it to control different instruments. maybe its because im also using a m-audio fast track pro. can u buy a cord to use the nanokey through the fast track pro?

  • @2709jones not sure about th efast track but with fl i just plug it in to my comps ub chord with the white chord thats comes with the nano key. then i go to option>midi settings>rescan midi devices and make sure the enable buttons illuminated

  • 35€ today

  • can this be used for a midi in a pro tools vacuum?

  • The keyboard is much useful... (on fruity loops)

  • I'm shocked Korg would put their name on this garbage. Could it look and feel more worthess? I doubt it.

  • Can I use this with Pro Tools SE

  • @MPROD100 Yes I use this with protools SE. It really is just plug and play.

  • can it work with m1 le

  • got this for christmas its great!!

  • wow dude!

  • no make sense buy it.....better give 30 dolars more and buy M-AUDIO Keyrig 49

  • nanoKEY vs. Akai LPK25? anybody used both?

  • @snubbs741 LPK25 is much better. The keys on the nanoKEY is just horrible.

  • Audio onboard Realtek ´97 is working now. I tweaked ASIO4ALL and it has no delay.. :)

  • I would like to learn piano, but I don't want to initially spend a lot of money until I know im gonna stick with it. Plus I don't have a ton of space in my apartment, and i thought this would be perfect for my needs. Would you recommend learning on this keyboard?

  • Ok then i missunderstood.

I just wanted a mini keyboard for on the road. But if i cant use it without a computer i cant use it. Thnx for your reaction!

  • can i conect it directly to the reason's piano.???????

  • Hey, i am looking for a keyboard to bring with me every day.

I have to travel4 hours every day in the train, so praticing my piano lessons will be a fun thing if i can do it on the go with a keyboard.

Can it be used to practice?

Can it be powered with Batterys, or something with usb that is NOT a computer, like a box with batterys with usb connection.

    Greetz,

    Jeroen

  • @JRansijn how do you expect to Get sounds from a midi controller? this isnt a keyboard, its a midi controller, which triggers preloaded or manually assinged sounds in your pc. you need a usb to power it,ergo needing a laptop/pc

  • Well, I say it's good enough for putting notes into Sibelius. You made my decision for me :D

  • so can you record the music you create to a sound file? (mp3, aac, etc) Thanks

  • which is better akai or korg nano key?

  • I was surprised to hear a sample from Radiohead at the start lol

  • @V19torrent

Hah I'm not the only one who heard Backdrifts in the start

  • I was wondering if you could help me , How could i Assign my keys to logic to trigger drum samples? thanks

  • intro song is backdrifts by radiohead.

  • can i use this as a controller for reason 4?

  • Is this worth the Bucks?!?!

  • I was disappointed with mine and had to return it to the shop because it had some keys that didnt work very well. Despite the defect, the keyboard was still of a bad quality. Its better to find some $100 more and buy a normal m-audio controller.

  • HA! The intro bit is from Backdrifts by Radiohead!!!

Can't believe I actually heard that...

  • @dunderdendur lol i noticed too!

  • I bought a Korg Nano Key but it's not working with my computer. My system had recognized it but there's just no midi sound when I play the keys. Also doesn't work with my Cubasis Vst 4. Can anybody help me solve it?

  • Does the synth program work with windows?

  • i got 1 fukin pissed me off few weeks of havein this the keys started fallin off an i didnt even hit the keys no where near hard so wot the fuk thats al about i dont no but i didnt pay 4 it got it 4 free from a mate so fuk nos i wouldnt pay it 4 no way if u goin 2 use this like fall time dont i had 2 go out an found a better 1 who nos wots the best to buy ? apart from this

  • Can you use it ona normal computer not a laptop? because i ca NOT open the software the directions are really STUPID!!!

  • can i just play it was a piano without plugging it into anything?

  • @StanleyTheShark no you cant, but its for midi (like garageband and stuff)

  • Could i use this to make some beats? Like the stuff that LIGHTS and Owlcity use in there songs? I knwo they use synthesizers but could i the nanokey to make simple techno and synthpop beats?

  • @kohorax yes if you have any music software e.g.reason,ableton,cubase,FLstudio,garageband,logic, Pro tools. To name a few!

  • I use this with Cantable Lite, and it works quite well. I have heard complaints about latency, but have not had a problem yet. Definitely worth buying.

  • I have one. It's great for software synths!

  • Wow, just discovered this, I thought it would be more expensive, when I saw the price I instantly looked up some demos and reviews of it. I think I'll buy this instead of a distortion pedal now, I really need a real keyboard rather than VMPK, the virtual one I use with Mixcraft. Thanks.

  • will it work wit flstudio 8?

  • yes

  • ... uhh of course it will, its just a midi keyboard.

  • i want 2 get the korg nano key (black)

and then a mic. to do dark ambient stuff...peoples opinions screw up my feelings about getting one...but i am...

they say the akai lpk25 is better, but it depends what music u play...i like dark ambient with black metal vocals not pop bullshit!

  • Varg wannabe :P

  • i just bought an iphone app called ak-7 keyboard over wi-fi - if you've got an iphone or ipod touch already it makes a handy input device on an ad-hoc wi-fi connection to your macbook pro :o)

  • this was a good review video..thanks!

  • will it work wit flstudio or abelton??

  • @REMIKXXKIMER yes

  • do you need a program on your pc to use it

  • @SackHamster If you do it comes with it

  • Hey planning on getting this, will it run on audacity, and anythign else cheasp you could recomend for a first time home recorder? ps will i need a decent soound card?

  • @TwinklyMrlol

Wont work with audacity you need to use a DAW dude

  • hey have u had any problems with the keys falling off, 2 of mine fell off and looks simple to clip back on but impossible at the same time. thanks

  • great review really helpful, will the nanokey series work with a netbook?

  • Wow that's radiohead's backdrifts at the begining :)

  • can someone tell me how to fix a key that popped out of the nano key????????????

  • Where i can download the "Korg Kontrol Editor" ?

Pls send me the link via PM. Thx

  • Should i get this or the Akai LPK25?

  • akai LPK25 by far. keys fall off on the KORG

  • I don't know why this guy seems to be somewhat supportive of the nanokey. Just avoid this controller. I've always been a fan of Korg, until I picked up this piece of crap. The keys are very awkward to use, and VERY fragile. One key broke off in my bag, another key broke off when I was playing it. I don't hit the keys hard, so that didn't make sense. And there was even a key that didn't work half the time. Buy the Akai LPK25, for only 70 US dollars. It's much better.

  • will a 30 dollar external soundcard from wal-mart work? thanks

  • Well at the time, there was no alternative, the Akais may well be better, but I havent got my hands on one. I think I do say it is the least well built of the three.

  • @sonicstate hey dude i just got this product and i cant find that program to use it that its called M1 Le do you know how i can find it?

  • @ts4357 Can you provide the name of that soundcard that allows me to search here in Brazil? Thanks :) I will search some external (usb) and cheap soundcard, 'cause my fucking videocard GEFORCE 9600 is too big and doesn't allows me to use my other PCI entrance to install a audiocard. Lol..

  • works with both pc and mac?

  • Its probably because you are using the internal soundcard of the laptop which by default may have a high latency setting - which is why there will be a delay. You laptop may not be able to give you better performance, you will have to tweak the audio setup in FL itself and see if you can reduce it.

  • @sonicstate I've got ASIO4ALL with sound onboard.. My pc is ultragood in performance. But sound is Onboard .. How can I tweak this on Fruity Loops??? (I pretend to use my PC-Keyboard as a MIDI.. If it not works I will have to buy the Nano..Please answer me :) Thanksss

  • @sonicstate What can I do to tweak audio in FL? I have ASIO yet. (PC's sound onboard)

  • @sonicstate I countered that problem by using the M-Box as the audio option then connecting to a set of studio montiors from the speaker out.

  • @sonicstate he should change the latency settings and driver. he should also use an asio driver like asio4all, because it much better latency than native windows direct sound driver

  • works great with propellerhead reason!

  • hey would this work on garageband?

  • Same question!! Please help.. Thinking about getting one and I need to know if it would work with GarageBand '09 pleae!!?

  • heyi just found out it would work on garageband.. lol whew

  • Hahah, whew! Thanks! And do you know anything about that other device you can get that hooks up to a NanoKEY and you can tilt your keyboard so it makes a different key/note/sound whatever!! It is super cool... :} Just wondering if you know.....

    OR ANYBODY??? Thanks!

  • nope sorry never heard of it lol. i'll look it up

  • Cool, thanks!

  • haha the monome?! that things a little espensive... and complicated as hell...

  • hmm...... Well thanks! Yeah, um, do you know about the "digitalent" HandMidi? I guess that's maybe just like the monome? But yeah... Was just wondering if the Digitalent HandMidi worked with GarageBand...?? If anybody knows it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

  • Can u have different effects on the their rather than just drums?

  • luv your accent

  • its only a players keyboard if your jordan rudess.

  • does it come with software??

  • hi does anyone know how you get samples for it?

    thanks

  • great review! i just got one and it works well with cubase in my pc. anyone here know if it works well with logic studio?it'd be great if i can lug this around with my laptop to record anytime. thanks!

  • Thanks for the review. I'm buying one today.

  • I hated this thing. I returned it the next day and took the restocking fee. Even without coming close to the CC button, if I played too fast it would go into CC mode and stop sending note data.

The laptop style keys are also a bad idea for a mobile keyboard. It won't survive a gig bag. A thin cable WILL slip between the keys and rip one off.

  • Thanks! Appreciate it... At least it's not THAT much money right?

  • I'm really thinking about getting this... Could someone help me out though please? I really need to know what is the difference between $53 black NanoKEY and this one which is $50 online....I mean they're both "KORG nanoKEY 25-Key USB MIDI Controller Keyboard" right? so what's the difference??

  • It really is just the colour as far as I know

  • All right! Thanks for the reply! Greatly appreciate it!!

  • Comment removed

  • "like ebony and ivory, together in perfect harmony"

    ahhahahahha amazing.

  • Backdrifts in the beginning!

  • yay! radiohead!

  • if the keys pop out can u place it back in?and how?

  • man they pop out but its hard sometimes to put them in dont buy this go look at akai new mini nano keyboard called the akai lpk25 go look at the video on you tube its a way better keyboard then a nano key same size too but nanokey is a waste

  • does this keyboard work with either fl studio or reason

  • I use it with reason

  • well thank you now i may consider getting it

  • r go buy the akai lpk25 ! i have a nanokey but the keys pop out like crazy

  • £50 in the UK

    $50 in the USA

The usual rip off Britain price.

  • hi

    I have a question:

I just got the keyboard and wondered how you actually change the sound that ech key make. I use cubase. I know i'm a bit of a noob but I never had a keyboard before so please help me. Thx!

  • That really depends on what you are playing, the keyboard is only the keyboard, it doesnt make any sound itself. You'll need to get your head around Cubase a little more, the keyboard will usually play whatever instrument track is selected.

  • "You'll need to get your head around Cubase a little more, the keyboard will usually play whatever instrument track is selected."

Could you maybe explain that little bit more. I don't really undertand. I mean what is an instrument track??

  • "what is an instrument track??"

    and you are using Cubase?

  • Would you recommend this for a beginner or do you think I would be better off with the M-Audio Axiom 25?

  • they actually do the same thing man but if yiou have the money get the best axiom 25 the nanokey keys pop out

  • Is the synth intro to the video when the logo plays inspired by backdrifts by radiohead by any chance?

  • yes

  • I found out now

  • Wwhere can you download the "Korg Kontrol Editor"?

  • Nice review! I really want one of these. Oh and by the way, what was the song at the end of the video, sounded good! If anyone knows please to inform me, thanks :)

  • Both pieces are from us. Sonicstate homegrown, glad you like them

  • CAN YOU USE A SUSTAIN PEDAL WITH IT?

  • No, there is no pedal input. You could program the mod or pitch puttons to act like a sustain though

  • Nope, no sustain pedal input there, just a USB input

  • Is the nano pack (NanoKey,NanoPad,NanoKontrol) a good paackage to buy if you want to start making proper music in a DAW?

  • if you're just starting out, I'd definitely reccomend the nanokontrol and the nanopad.

  • just use korg kontrol editor to send a "scene" to the nanokey! it's a nice tool for mobile sequencing.

  • Does anybody know if you can turn the sensitivity ON/OFF or are the keys always touch sensitive (the harder u hit the key the louder the sound)>>>>???

  • that has to be done inside your sequencer or vst.

I turn it off lot of times because sometimes you need to press it really hard (depending the vst).

Generally its a knob which says "velocity"

put it to 0 and there you go

  • Does this shit work well wtih Reason 4.0?

  • Comment removed

  • yes you need a DAW, lol. it's a midi controller.

  • Thanks man....I'm learning! Still early days for me : )

  • is there any way to connect this device with my korg PA 500 ? so i can play a piano sample on the nanokey sent by my PA?

  • I have to leave for a shop imediately!!!

  • Anyone use thing on tracktor Scratch Pro?

  • I hear it works amazng wtih traktor, dude.

  • Anyone use this in FL Studio?

  • Yes it works in FL Studio, Tibincrunch.

  • i have it its good!
