The 7D, like the 50D , suffers from too many pixels overloaded onto the 1.6 crop frame.

If you can get a virtually unused 40D ( less than 5000 shutter actuations) it is best for Image Quality from 100 to 800 ISO, the 7D being better for ISO 1600 to 6400.

The 50D is by far the very worst of the three.

The new 60D is plastic and also suffers from too many pixels

Be very careful its very easy to get lured in and caught up in marketing hype.

No camera ever took a great picture by itself, technology may make it easier to get sharp focus and good exposure quickly but, great national geographic published pictures were shot on canon f-1's Leica's and Nikon f's. ( all mechanical all manual 35mm' film cameras).

a camera is a light tight box that holds a sensor or film at one side and the lense at the other, the magic is between the photog' ears.

I heard the 50D is an amazing camera. Since the 7D is a higher model, It would probably be better right? Which one would you recommend? 50D or 7D? and why?

The 7D is a better camera then the 50D

If you have the money get the 7D but if your on a budget the you should by the 50D and you get a good objective with it and you still save like 300buks then just getting the 7D house, but if you planing to shoot video then get the 7D without hesitateing.

I just bought the 50D las week and i use it as my backup camera, and im very happy with it a great camera for the money ;)

Two different prices, two different markets. Full frame + HD video + High fps shooting are key distingiushing factors of the 7D. You decide..

I am a wildlife photographer from Sweden as well xD I use the 40D + Sigma 50-500mm f4-6.3 EX HSM.

Im planning to get the 1D Mk3 soon, because of 10 fps and dust / weather protection.

Ive been using the 40D for quite a time, and its still pretty awesome, so I dont think its necessary to buy a 50D. if u want to upgrade to it.. If I would name the 50D, I would've named it a 40D Mk2 instead ^^

Im using my 40d for almost a year now and i havent had any problem with this camera even the resolution, i crop my pictures 50% of a time and the pictures are still amazingand i don't think its wise buying 50d, in real life situation you wont even notice who shot who with this two cameras. Very little difference in terms of resolution.

Full frame sensor is the biggest reason. unless you are doing time lapse photography you really don't need more than 3.9fps. The system can't focus that fast anyway.

He didnt need a new state of the art cam taking those shots, the eagle was so close every non-professional but serious photographer would 've easily taken great shots at such distance. I'm sure a 10D would 've cut it easily depending on the lens in front. This is all marketing hype stuff as i'm sure it will be a great camera but one will not become harry potter once upgraded.

Yep. I am really leaning towards the extra 5 mega pixels. I know they don't really matter, but it is just too alluring to get a new version. BUT..... everyone on Flickr is telling me to wait a few months after it comes out to get it. They say it will have too many 'bugs' at first and Canon will need a month or two to work them out.

Live view its a welcome extra as well as the Compact Flash card wich is faster than the SD Card.
