  • Fuck u all this show is awesome!!!!!!

  • animal cruallty

  • OMG this guy is a fuckwit! Obviously knows fuck all about monitors- take it from someone who actually owns and breeds them, you must NEVER treat a monitor like that especially a territorial monitor like lacies, i bet any money if they would've approached it in a more calm matter ratcher than throwing themselves on top of it (which could cause the animal some serious problems) it would have been more co-operative. Fucking wankers these days that know fuck all. Shits me to tears it does.

  • @monicadiva96 can you actually die from them? like i know he said they can hit a main artery but does it rarely happen?

  • Having headaches with all of the comments!! If you are so smart why don't you make a show "better" than this?!

  • @Hitman204x

Science is ever-changing, bacteria does not react in as quick a time-frame as venom does - it was nothing but a theory, and has since been disproven. The venom glands have been located and identified in the Komodo Dragon, it's basically a concrete fact now - stop disagreeing with expert opinions when you clearly demonstrate that you have no idea what you're talking about.

It really saddens me how people cling to misinformation just because it's what they were brought up with..

  • Something was infected in the monitors mouth

  • As recently as 2007 venom researcher dr. bryan greig fry put the head of a dead komodo dragon in a brain scanner and found that in the lower jaw that a quarter of all lizard species have a venom gland but scientists are still researching it to get more information on this discovery.

  • Haha they do not have venom only the beaded lizard and the gila monster (include 2 subs species) have a true venom. The monitor family have a very unique bacteria which doesn't respond to common anti-biotics such as penicillin encouraging the belief they are venomous. If it was a venom it would do very different things than the usual infection ect.

  • @knightblade91

Look up a paper on the Evolution of the Venom apparatus by Frye et al, good read explains the discovery of venom in non snake squamates well.

  • wow this is a massive over reaction

  • omg he gets me so nervous when he has it in his hands..i feel like hes gonna get bitten phew ;)

  • meanwhile, in the home of a reptile owner, a tame friendly lace monitor just sits there as people walk up and pet it... hahaha

  • nice video but isnt overacting when he catch the monitor? hehheh

  • lol watching this reminds me of when i first tried 2 catch an iguana in florida me and my brother was yelling and running around and i caught it tho. as always theres british buzz killers, a fat brittish mom yelled at us that we were hurting it (we where actually just holding it in a towel) and i said, well u like fishing right? and she said yes and i replied so u think me holding a lizard in a towel is worse then jamming a hook inside a fishs mouth just 2 throw him?

  • It has been proven bearded dragons do have venom glands but lace montiors do not have the same venom glands.

  • Why don't they make any more Wild Recon?

  • This is a serious LOSER

  • WOW an Animal Planet video that is not narrated by the annoying pre-school teacher voice.

  • Mate your a tool.

  • haha what a retard only two lizards in the world have venom and they do not inlcude the monitor family its just bacteria you gullable idiot.

  • @knightblade91 I think you`re the "gullible idiot", they have venom!!

  • why is making it such a big deal? that's not a dangerous animal...

  • bear grylls wouldnt kill these becasue they area rare species

  • this is sooo stupid monitors dont have venum they just have allot of bacteria in there saliva fuk this bitch

  • @dongerdid - dont speak if you dont know... monitors do have venom, a recent study proves it. learn how to spell and dont talk about things you obivoulsly have no idea about

  • @gdogishereYO

alright muther fuker i bread monitors and hav gotin bitin by lace monitors atleast 20 times they do(not)hav venom they hav harmful bacteria in there mouths

  • Honestly, couldnt he just take them venom from a captive speciment instead of running around shouting in the bush and lecturing us about how incredibly dangerous the poor lizard is? But then I guess that wouldnät be as dramnatic or entertaíning, bloody idiot.

  • @Devious8886 They need samples from outside captivity for a reason. "Bloody idiot".

  • @chrislgrooms and these are? One would think that with respect to venom the wild specimen should not differ from the captive ones. More likely however is that it looks much cooler to wrestle a hapless lizard in the bush than one in captivity.

  • He needs the venom for research. Schultz has to handle the animal like that, or else he wouldn't be able to get the venom. Don't overeact, the monitor is unharmed. They're not like people. The Lace Monitor isn't going to be mentally affected. It just moves on with its life.

  • Why is having venom in their saliva new to everyone? The Komodo dragon is known to have very deadly bacteria in its saliva, monitor lizards are related to komodo dragons (varanidae) therefore the characteristic should be assumed to continue with the family of varanidae, right? I think so. As for being stressed daily life in Australia is much more stressful for the lizard than an encounter with an unarmed man.

  • stupid shit man thanks for showing the world how not to handle a lace monitor.

  • poor thing :[

  • Poor lace monitor );

  • @Zarrimus yea they do they found out about 5 years back

  • Stupid,they don't have venom!

  • in your chase for info please be careful of how you represent your ideas and findings . consider how others could use and twist your findings to ban or limit ownership . 2004 ban NY state (WATER) MONITOR (V. SALVATOR), NILE MONITOR (V. NILOCITUS), 6 WHITE THROAT MONITOR (V. ALBIGULARUS), BLACK THROAT MONITOR (V. ALBIGU- 7 LARUS IONIDES) AND CROCODILE MONITOR (V. SALVADORI) AND ANY HYBRID

  • i think thats wrong chasing down the poor thing but at least its for a useful purpose

  • Stupid cunt wish that lacey ripped him the fuck up :)

  • what can i say, i'm sure that monitor not stressed at all after that.

  • How DARE you treat a Monitor like that !!!!.......

you DONT chase them you fuckwit.. !!!!! ever heard of "CAPTURE MYOPATHY" ???? after you were done freaking the fuck out of that creature.....what then ?......grabbing it like that....scaring the shit out of it, getting your "camera shots" ....you didnt teach anyone anything....except how NOT to handle them.....well done.....

  • check out my videos if u want to see a nice lacie specimen....

  • i wish i had like 2000 dollars to buy a lace monitor lol

  • I love watching u Donald, such an amazing thing to do, u always put me at the edge of my seat, LOL! me and my kids learn a lot from watching ur show about animals and nature as weil...keep it up and be safe out there in the wild :-)

  • i luv reptiles i catch garter snakes out here and its so much fun

  • isit part of the komodo dragon and snake?

  • mmmm varanus don't have venom it have microbes in the saliva just like komodo dragons little misinformation here but is good to research

  • @0MichiganExotics0

New studios shows that they have venom, they are relted to the gilamonsters

  • Actually, Dr Brian Fry has done research on varanids and their venom... they do have venom glands, they used MRI scans to locate them and they also tested a series of other herps and surprisingly enough the bearded dragon "pogna Sp." (one of the most popular reptile pets) has in fact got venom glands.

  • They have venom glands but they tend to be vestigial and the ones that arent tend to have very very very weak venom. The venom in an iguana bite is stronger than that of a lace monitor. With a lace monitor, all you have to worry about is getting ur hand ripped off.

  • I'm gonna do this when i grow up.

  • Nice varanus varius!

  • Reminds me of Steve fightin' those Crocs...

I would never do this job lol. I don't have the balls to do it.

  • he is kinda cute.lol. at least he has guts to go hang with the reptiles.

  • That guy reminded me of Steve Irwin.

  • poor lizard.. looked like the guy was gonna brake him =\

  • I was bitten by my monitor once. It's a tame savanna monitor and it was my own stupidity. It really hurts, especially when they do death rolls!

  • shitty quality of teh videos :(

  • LEAVE The animal alone u shit for brain

  • @annr8 obviously they only took its venom and released it back into it's habitat. both my parents take blood pressure meds because they inherited high blood pressure. so that means i will most likely end up in the same boat. if they can improve medication for this problem with the lizard's venom...i say go for it.

  • I wanna work that!

  • i thought there are only two types of lizards are venomous.... and its from Mexico and south or America.

    others are just dirty..

  • New studies show otherwise. The fact that monitors and a couple other lizards are venomous was, as far as I know, just published to the public last year.

  • thx man

  • @werewfistruefate9

Dr. Brian Fry is leading the field and has already published multiple papers. It is venom although bacteria are also probably present.

BTW the guy on this show is a total moron. He grabs the monitor then throws himself off of that small hill (acting like he is wrestling a croc), not to mention has extremely questionable holding techniques. Its not a lion it is a lace monitor stop over acting.

  • @OblivionIce I totally agree that the guy is a moron. But what can we do about it? Producers want overly dramatic fools doing brainless things. They want things that look "cool;" not things done the right way.

  • @werewfistruefate9 the one thing we can do about it is vote with our eyes. I refuse to watch any personality driven wildlife show and only watch proper documentaries. Irwin reruns, Brady Barr, Wild Recon (=Irwin with a saffy accent) - I refuse to watch any of them.

  • @werewfistruefate9 Very true... If we were a nation of intellects (which we are far from) we wouldn't need action/violence in our entertainment.

  • @OblivionIce I don't think he's a moron. He obviously over does it for TV. So I don't think it's his fault. If he doesn't make this seem like an action movie, idiotic people won't watch his show and it'll eventually be cancelled.

  • this guy is a putz...

  • Venom extraction? shouldn't that be done in a lab to assure safety? Seems so wrong.

  • Funny, I was just in a discussion about Komodo dragons the other day. Hmm.

    Benson and TOnic

  • yea i would be run the opposite way lol

  • the next steve irwin o.o

  • while i watch these videos.... i always want to see the animal bite one of them!!! maybe i am jus cruel

  • no your not...me too. Its out of the ordinary otherwise its too...meh staged :D

  • @aFuckingsensation

it will never bite them..hahaha..just look at the camera angles..i'm sure that wont do that kind of stupid stuff.

  • Not cruel. lol

But, you probably wont ever see it on these videos. I doubt they would air the attack... unless its on a show about attacks. Lol

  • That is very true. I have a Savannah monitor, and I can guarantee that the danger is not as much as he claims. If his arteries do get cut, they obviously have a first aid kit with them.

  • Im sure THEY do.

But if it was someone who wouldnt expect to be attacked by an animal of any kind, I highly doubt they would have a first aid kit. And besides, he's just saying that the monitor is powerful enough to do damage. And lets be honest here, if your arteries got clawed, there is always the large possibility of death.

  • @lalidado

i am impress by how they manage to find such a small and fast monsters. i doubt that it was a wild animal. But who cares.

  • Although a possibility, i think they are wild animals. Keep in mind these people are trained professionals AND we're smart enough to think of ways to catch them. Luck also plays a role in the mix :P

Whatever, I dont know for sure, so i might be wrong lol

  • true.. Maybe they camp for months? Its Big ! maybe it was from the zoo..hahaha

  • @kokpigcan it doesn't take long to find reptiles with a group of people, in the right areas. I think some of my youtube videos prove this fact. A sunny day, in a remote area, with lots of rocks to bask on and hide under, should do the trick. oh, and some keen eyes and quick hands!!

  • Make sense..Like How tall the grass is in this video.

Look at how easy they locate a lizard..Really trained pro.

  • the tall grass makes it easy for them to see the lizard. as the animal walks or runs through it, it moves and you can track its movement.

  • ya..good for that area too. but i wonder if that lizard is hiding in that grass.. how to catch it? they caught it in the rocky area

  • maybe in ran in that direction and they just caught it in the rocky spot. To be honest, I dont really know :P

  • LOL UR CRAZY

  • The way I see it, Bear's purpose is to demonstrate survival techniques, not actually perform them. Survivorman just takes it to a whole new level. But let's not get into one of these "heated debates" that are all the rage on Youtube.

  • He didnt mean to do that just the lizard was shaking and he slipped and took it down a hill

  • that must take guts

  • If it were Bear Grylls, that lizard would already be roasting over an open flame. He would've scolded this guy for wasting perfectly good energy on catching and releasing that lizard. "When I was in the Sahara Desert I had to eat Camel Spiders!" "But Bear, I'm not doing surviv"--"CAMEL SPIDERS!"

  • @TheMisterYang

I no this blokes a bit of a bear grylls chafe

  • @TheMisterYang

    Hahahhaha

  • Cool I might have to watch this

  • Nah, the animal didn't find that encounter as traumatic, only stressful. This method actually isn't that bad. This is a lot better than trapping, for the animal. It's practical, and I understand what you are saying, but it's not as traumatic as you might think. And, as he said, the stress makes it salivate a lot more.

I think this is actually better than trapping them and captive breeding them for scientific research.

  • cool

  • the lizard is fine, and the venom they get from it will be worth more than it's life once it's been researched and used in anti-venoms/medications.

  • Its not even venom . . . ?????

  • @StinkyWater28

He has to hold it like that or it would attack him with those claws and maybe even its jaws

  • @AnimatedMovieMaker first fail comment =P

  • @skittlesxlord LOL!

  • Funny voice.

  • GANGSTA !!!
