Each new class starts with the usual question directed towards me, "Do you believe in God?". To keep peace I just say , "I'm Catholic" (used to be). This allows me to keep teaching without heckling going on. Sad.

Do you teach in a public school? If you're in the US, the constitution protects separation of church and state so you can simply decline comment.

That's how I start my class. If anyone has any evidence or tested hypothesis to refute anything that I tell them in this class, they can present it. If not, they cannot bring their opinion to the contrary. It seems to work. The "I'm Catholic" bit was when I started a few yrs back, now I use the scientific method to thwart the comments. I should have mentioned this in my post.

I suggest reading "Case for Christ" and other 'Cases' by Lee Strobel. He provides a convincing argument in a legal, courtroom-like style, which may not match the scientific method, but is certainly convincing. I'd recommend it for any Catholic who turned from their faith due to the "lack" of evidence, if that impression that I'm getting from you is correct. It's a nice read, if nothing else.

personally, i want to know what agnosticism has to offer, especially in regards to the Afterlife? no offense agnosticism makes no sense to me and doesn't hold ground. it's too borderline for me. why not choose one or the other. now, about "the other side's" convincing arguements: maybe this is just a select minority like me, but once u dig deeper then the surface those beliefs hold no ground. Christianity deals with a personal God: the Trinity. i've felt the supernatural and had answers to pray.

all this to say, find a Bible, start by reading the books of John, Romans, and then even Revalation, which are all in the New Testament. John gives witness to the personal side of God and why Jesus is who He claims he is. In Romans, the Apostle Paul shows how the Law and our good works can't save us from eternal damnation in Hell. In Revalation, John has visions of the end times, given to him by God. this book isn't only symbolic but also literal mostly. Left Behind Series is tangible Revalation

Secondly, there are huge amounts of evidence for Evolution and the scientific origin of DNA.

Evolution is considered a FACT in the scientific community, and a theory is the highest form of a proof there is outside of a mathematical equation.

If you'd like to see the facts on evolution, let me know and I'll show them to you. Otherwise, just keep guessing =)
