weird transitions and no explosiveness. It looks more like for show than the real thing. I think the landing there hurt his score. YXC is definitely better
This guy has flawless basics, power, balance, but the style and continuity is a little weird. I bet he has to work twice as hard due to the history. I would love to see his compulsory.
You probably can't have a judge from your own country, so every competitor gets a super strict Chinese judge, and YXC gets every other less experienced judge.
The Russian competitor realised all positions mabu with the toes towards outside, even though that its routine I liked much, I believe that this had to be second
I disagree - YXC was first because he was Chinese. In places, YXC's Changquan was poor but his jumps were exceptionally good though he should not be judged on that alone. YXC should have had a 0.1 deduction for toes turned out on mabu after the lotus.
This guy is sharp with excellent basics - period. Even with a 0.1 deduction this guy should have come second "easily" and if the judges had done their jobs properly it would be extremely close between him and China.
If the judges did their job I agree it wouldve been extremely close between japan and china...
However I don't believe in this case YXC was first because he was chinese but I felt his overal performance was better. Yes and not only on the nandu (still.. he didn't make any clear mistakes on nandu and Japan did).
But chances are YXC would've been first even if Ichizaki Daisuke was clearly better..
About the toes turned out on ma bu.. it seems that even in China they don't get deducted for this often.. you see 5.0 being awarded on performances that display this mistake.
It is a fact that Chinese athletes win even though they sometimes do not deserve to. It is also a fact that international judges are afraid to score against Chinese competitors.
Basically, I would never score a competitor an OP of 2.83 if they were not capable of performing a mabu correctly no matter how high they jumped or how many rotations they made.
Having read all of this and gone back to look at YXC's performance, I just find Daisuke's form to be more imaginative. YXC's transitions and runs are rather boring. No doubt the guy is a badass when it comes to getting his height and rotations down, but altogether the performance was tasteless. I applaud Daisuke for uses more of the martial in the art.
Looking it over it would have been very close between them if the split landing would've been correct. He also got deducted by B judges on that, which means without the miss in the split landing he would have had 9.78 pts, and that's pretty close to YXC's 9.83...
Also I feel YXC have loads more explosiveness and power in his movements compared with most of the others I've seen lately, both in China and the world.
i'm really not a fan of YXC's style, but you also have to factor in that he did a 720 pretty much perfectly. that wins him a lot for his overall performance score.
Amaizing!

Well YXC wasn't first because he's chinese, he was first coz he was the best.
That being said he should have been second!!!
The current 2nd and 3rd place are nowhere near his level. But he did get deducted for his split landing, otherwise he would've had 9.68

And why is that? If it is a deduction in the rules then it should be a deduction no?

True.
Just wasn't that sure if in this particular case YXC won because of his nationality.
However since I've always liked Ichizaki Daisuke's forms I really wish he could've been first, in any case he should at least have been second here!

I think that is a fair assessment.
YXC's power is of a superb standard especially in his housaotui which is world class.
