I think Donna Reed died about 15 years ago or so. One of her last acting roles was temporarly playing the part of "Miss Ellie" with a "surgically altered repaired new face after having it disfigured in and accident ,on the series show DALLAS. From a artical I read in a tabloid,Donna did get to reunite one more time with her old tv family (all already older)of her old series show.
@wallofvideo No, The Cleavers lived in two different houses during the run of that series. The Cleavers' first house did have a similar layout as the Stones had, with the kitchen, living room, stairs and front door in the same part of the house, but it had a different style. The Cleavers' second house had the front door, stairs, and living room on an entirely opposite end of the house from where their first house and the Stones had them, facing a whole other direction.
Honestly,could Patty Petersen really fill Shelley's void?I don't think so.(Chuckle!)
But Patty definitely made a place for herself in the Donna Reed show and was really cute-as well as being nice.I was in love with Trisha for a while.(I am only 2 1/2 weeks older than Patty.)
mun63 Very observant of you ! I watched both of these shows growing up, and never made the connection to the Munsters. Thanks for the insight and Nostalgia Caprice :)
In my opinion, The Munsters was sort of a 'hybrid', a parody of The Donna Reed Show, plus that of Leave it to Beaver, the latter under the aegis of the Leave it to Beaver people.
..there is another opening version where her husband doesnt forget to kiss her....i loved the show so much,it was also transmitted here in germany...thanks..
Season 4 Also? Rare indeed. Never saw it on Nick at Night... Hope they have a bunch of added on stuff...I have heard nothing in the press on this...I will definately be interested since it is one of the classic shows of my youth!
This Donna Reed Show had on at least two eps actor Harvey Korman. He was later on America 2Night with the naturally lobotomized Martin Mull. Mull admitted in a 1978 interview with Newsweek that he never yelled in reallife (thus the naturally lobotomized moniker). Must have been weird for Korman to work with Mull when almost normal adults have yelled on occasion!
This is a variation on the opening title sequence with the original cast, this one with a more modern font.
And there was yet a third, opening sequence with Donna sporting a more modern, 1960's hairstyle & fashions, and with new cast member Patty Petersen, most notable for Donna too leaves the house in that one.
How come this ends abruptly, before its actual completion?

@amdreamgirl23 Carl Betz passed away in 1981, a victim of lung cancer. Donna Reed passed away five years later, a victim of pancreatic cancer.

I hear the first season is coming out on DVD in October and they will have a rollout of the first five seasons over a couple of years.
Includes the very rare season 4 - which never aired post-original broadcast in the 1960's. Wow.
