Cool project, but the CR80 would be a faster bike, because the CR80 is a 2 stroke racing bike, and the CRF100 is a four stroke trail bike. Good job though!
@stevensj13 its not always about speed. The 80 2 stoke is faster sure, but not as fun and easy to ride as a 4 stoke powerband. The 80's chassis is more advanced than the CRF 100s chassis so it stands to reason to put the CRF100's engine in the better chassis. That and we like to fabricate stuff, so why not try it out. Will be a super fun bike. I'd like to convert my 80 over to a CRF100's engine, but we only had one doner bike.
@chixwithtrix nope 2 strokes r funner to ride should of left the 2 stroke motor in it unless you didnt have it but thts cool i guess i jus do not like a 4 stroke there boring to ride even in trails
@acdc2197 I disagree, they're both great engines and have their purpose. I own both 4 strokes and 2 strokes, currently have CR80 and CR250 2 strokes, had a CRF450 and currently have a SXV 550 4 stroke. As well as the CRF100/CR80 swapped bike in this video. We wanted to do the swap because of the challenge, not because it would make the bike faster. Don't say 4 strokes are boring until you've ridden a 450, anything but boring! Check out modifiedlifestyle(dot)com for more info on my projects.
@chixwithtrix iv rode tons of 4 strokes bikes man tht all i had wen i was really little and my brother has had big bikes but i jus like 2 strokes to me there funner and faster
@Slyder1212 it's all opinion. Some people love 2 strokes, some love 4 strokes. Just because your reality 2 strokes are awesome doesn't mean it's the same for everyone else. I personally like both, they've got strengths and downsides that make them unique. You won't see me trying to force my love for one or the other on people, because I honestly don't care to. They can love what they do and I'll do my thing :)
