  • Defend her being a beginner all you want, but if someone's trying to show you how to do something they should really know how to do it themselves first.

  • you should not hear a thump if she was on ice it would crack and she wwould fall in

  • omg i think she looks fine, sorry if it might not be absolutely perfect

  • Pretty good for a beginner, but what yu have to remember, is that while performing a glissage, you want to see the postiion as long as possible so you see the movement cleary in mid-air so you look weightless

  • That was awful. Her knees barely went over her toes and were completely uneven.

  • beautiful

  • She maybe a beginner but she is changing her lead foot in between glissades and she needs better work on her technique. She has potential!

  • I understand that she's a beginner and all, but WHY would you make instructional videos WITH SOMEONE WHO CAN'T EVEN DO IT?

Maybe i'll go and upload some carpentry tutorials. I mean yeah sure i suck, but you can all give me the benefit of the doubt because i'm a beginner right?

  • This is crap!!!!!! your shit! no affence but in the rad syllabus you dont do first postion glissades and you strech in between! you cant even say changement right!!

  • this is looks easy,, i dont do ballet but i am intrested instarting it..i looks beutiful if alot of people are doin it :D

  • if you dont like it then dont watch it

  • I have been doing ballet for eight and a half years.I am inly nine, but you are jumping in your glissade.

  • wow! terrible glissades! she's sort of jumping she is suposed to be sliding!!

  • lol her arms is in second position xD

  • I get that she is a beginner, but wouldn't fellow beginners need a good example? People also learn by imitation and I'm sorry to say this you really shouldn't imitate that girl

  • i think it was great ;)

  • For people on here who are bemoaning the fact that the student is not a professional dance, that is the point! For years we have had the so called "professionals" show us how it is suppose to be done with poor results: people left dance because they couldn't obtain the high standards set by professional dancers. Dance "NEEDS" these videos because the "professional" have failed in their duty to make their art accessible. Don't believe me? Look at all the bashing going on here.

  • @fredrika27 but it doesn't teach you the CORRECT fundamentals. Without SOLID CONSISTENT and PERFECT performance of the fundamentals people hurt themselves when they attempt to do things beyond their capacity because they have bad form, incorrect placement, use the wrong muscles, and the list continues...

  • nice!

  • "Glissade sanja" should be "glissade changer" because ballet terminology is based in the french language, and you "changer" or "to change" the lead foot in fifth position. dear god.

  • @densmi its actually glissade changee with an accent grave on the second to last e

  • pleease make a video if you now so much you ppl have so much to say....stop bitching! ugh!! wtf @gillianspice

  • point your toes, press your heels into the floor, and watch your arms!!! and no one uses third position anymore because it's ugly and just looks like you don't know how to do a proper fifth position

  • @TheGymlovers1 Really? There are so many different advise... urgh..As a beginner would you recommend fifth. I am 29 did ballet on and off... More OFF than on .. haha. but i still want to do it to keep my grace and body looking lean. I dont have a good turn out and dance teachers start with fifth for beginners (adult) but its just too hard and i end up turing out knees (OUCH!) what do you think . Wouldnt third be a better elarning position and then get the strength to do fifith.

  • @cheriobaby1113 it really takes just as much turn out to do a proper third position as it does for fifth position. there is a good stretch you can do for turn out called a frog stretch--let me know if you would like me to make a video showing that stretch. but other than that, it just takes time to build up the muscles used for turn out and you just have to be very careful to always keep your knees going straight over your toes...continued

  • @TheGymlovers1 i would practice a lot of plies because they are simple and you can go slow to make sure your form is correct. if you stretch and practice a lot, you will find it much easier to be in fifth position. and if you're going to practice with another position to build strength, i would use first position. hope this helps and let me know if you would like me to make a video explaining any of these things!

  • @cheriobaby1113 Yes Yes! please do some stretchs for the turn out muscles. Because my ex-ballet teacher keep saying TURN OUT TURN OUT.. and i thought gosh if the muscles were stronger they would. Miracles can't happen overnight right. So, I would reallly appreciate if you can do some exercises that will help one reach the 180 turn out. Thanks :)

  • expertvillage sucks

  • I think she should watch her arms. I know, this is a step for the feet, but the main purpose of ballet is to preform on stage. and if you're on stage, it will look ugly if you don't watch your arms. Just saying

  • the stupid text is blocking her damn feet.

  • She's fine for a beginner, but as this is an instructional video, they definitely should have had a real professional do it, someone who actually has the basics down, so people can see how it should look. =/

  • If you have to look up beginner ballet then stop dissing it! If you are looking up glissades stop making horrible snooty comments!

  • She jumps too much, and her weight is in the wrong pisition, but this is probably one of the better videos.

  • She has the most boring voice ever

  • thats a perfect demonstration on how to do a glissade in a wrong way, thanx

  • glissade 'sanja'??? wtf?? It's "changé"

what I don't get is why she had a beginner demonstrate... a higher level dancer who has the basics down pat would be a better choice so that people would see how it's 'supposed' to look rather than 'foot to foot' without a proper second in the air and moving arms and the leaning forward in the plie... all beginner 'mistakes' you grind out with time.

    dancechelseafly, that's definitely a 3rd.

  • hahha omg. she is a instructor at a dance academy in my town. i hear many bad things of her studio she works for.

  • She is a BEGINNER!!!! Omg, stop complaning! :S

  • @totalyblackout shut up u fag

  • this is a kewl glide thanks for demonstrating

  • Thats Fifth position..

  • lol 0:08

  • pause it at 1:00

  • hahaha pause it at 0.08

  • haha pausing at 0:03 is funny lmao x

  • see looks like a frog, thats not right

    :S

  • actually i dont think that wus quite good..cuz u have 2 explain the movement not only show it !!

  • I like your demonstrations. How about your own username.

  • except for the fact glissades don't look like that? your not supposed to "glide" or whatever the lady was saying. your supposed to hit second in the air. you're not merely "hopping" from one leg to the other

  • yea your talking about the advanced glissades, these are very basic ....but not very good.

  • don't be so harsh. dancing is a great thing, no matter how good or bad. It takes a lot to try. And when a bunch of anonymous youtube browsers laugh at this it shows they do not truly know a thing about dancing.

  • lmaoo

    pause it a 00.3

  • HAHAHAHHA that's funny!! lol

  • lmao!.. whats up with that!

  • my teacher would have yelled at me too if i looked like that.

  • too jumpy

  • does anyone else think she looks high when she's introducing her self. hahahahah. pause it at like 0:03. its funny as hell! hahahaha

  • WTF?!? this is soooo funny... they could take at least some professional dancer to show how it really shold look like..

  • she looks like a frog or something when she does a glissade

  • My ballet coach will make me do 50 sit-up if I'm like her...

  • lmao we dont do it like tht

  • perfect pratice makes perfect. . .. .

    that was bad. .

my teacher would've yelled at me if I did it like her!

  • jajajaja are you kidding me?! .. she sucks!

  • She isn't doing the glissades correctly. From what I know, she should make second position in the air and then land. My teacher always yells at me for doing them exactly how she did them.

  • "that was beautiful joylin" are you kidding me? her arms are horrible, she sucks

  • jaja horrible!!

  • Bit stiff in movement!

  • Pf, i came to see this video totally excited about dance and class ob ballet... now i go disapointted... with this girl i can see it is too hard to dance!!! i suppose she is the best one on the class... and looks terrible!!!! OMG

  • I thought you were suposed to wear close fitting garments like leotards and tights so the instructor could check the proper alignment of the body, and in this case potential students could see the movement properly...

  • No, no proper allignment here. But on the bright side, she's making us people who do know a little bit about ballet feel good about ourselves :) on the other side, beginners- go to a real class with a real teacher.

  • this wasn't beatiful. argh, it was kinda awful. i'm not a professional ballet dancer, but even I can do this better and i'm doing ballet since 2005.

  • @Welpin85 well show us then, if u can do it better!

  • how was that a good glissade?????????? some1 tell me because i didnt think it was!!!!!!!!!!

  • well no not really, you have to come a little more off the ground she is also going to fast.

  • wait, isn't a glissade suposed to like keep low, cause in my opinion, she's hoping and not gliding

  • the pliés are skew, in my opinion.

  • people really need to stop being so rude, notice the vids say for beginners!!!! if you could do that at five, great but not everyone started that early. if you are beyond beginners mode, go watch some more advanced stuff instead of belittling beginners.

  • Beginners should learn to strive for perfection and correct technique, not only so they can improve and know what to keep striving for, but also because of their physiological health.

  • since this is for beginners, they should be showing perfect technique so that the beginners know what to do! showing a beginner someone dancing with horrible technique like this will make the beginner dance with horrible technique too.

  • i could do that better than her when i was 5.

  • omfg!!!!!

    Please, some manners ppl!

Maybe that girl has just begin ballet glasses. Don't be so rude. And are you just coming to tease poor girl?

If your so good at dancing, do your own videos for heavens sake.

  • ahahhaha I cannot believe this woman is still in business. she was the worst teacher ever who ran a recital factory... and Im not the only one who thought so.. OMG shes embarressing herself.. the fact that she is using the best dancer she has, and thinks that what she is doing looks great.. goes to show why so many of her students were injured.

WHY HASNT SHE BEEN SUED YET??

  • well they are teaching beginners who lets face it probably are gonna have a worse one the she does so leave it alone

  • when she started out, all of her body weight was on the leg she had to do the second brush on. glissades are used as transition steps like glissade jettes. if you try to do a step out of that it won't work. also, when you do glissades, ur supposed to hit second position in the air. she is a horrible dancer.

  • Why would people write awfull comments about someones dance? Dance is not just technique its from the heart. This is why people are mean! Great Job!

  • this video is supposed to be teaching the technique of a specific step. it is not about artistic expression. i would never comment on someone's choreography or personal dance video, but this is presented as a tutorial and is not executed correctly. also, they say that these women are "experts", which does not seem accurate.

  • third position! are you kidding me?

  • I know maybe its just me but who really uses third anymore. It's basically fifth, and I've never done a glissade from first always fifth.

  • i think she's not a professional she's like a dummy dummy! eeew

  • This woman obviously has NO expirence at so all. The 'dummy' following this hags steps is obviously a beginner, her glissades were terrible all wrong she left her weight behind.

  • her 5th is really really bad!!!! she is def. a beginner!

  • looked like she was heaving herself across the floor...i hope she's a beginner!!

  • I think she really is a beginner, that's why this looks so bad to more advanced dancers...

  • yeh this is crap.i was trying to find advice on glissades in 5 cos myn are crap i cnt seem to end with neat feet tht are turned out cos im pretty useless like that.

  • on 00:00 she looks really weird

  • lol, yeh

  • Oh goodness, not you guys again! Your horseriding one was bad enough and now you're traching ballet? Her first glissades were all wrong, there was no moment of suspension - they got better towards the end, but she still left her weight behind.

Don't watch this, kids, go to a dance school if you want to learn to dance!

  • This is great--stuff I've always wanted to learn! Now how about putting a little music to it?
