  • awesome videos man!!super super helpful!!

  • Saturn i would have junked that thing lol.

  • How many miles are on the engine and what made you have to pull it? I have a 2001 Saturn like this (same color too) with 88,000 miles.

  • @myzery3571 What happen was what most of the time is the downfall of the s-series low oil leading to a fried engine.I think it had 100,000 miles

  • Hey rich, Thanks for the video first off, I am pulling a SOHC in a 97 SL1 I have it prepped to pull. I am going to do it as you did with the tranny left in the car. Was it just as easy going in as it was coming out? Should i pull the transmission with the engine or just leave it in?

  • @davisgarth10 It went back in very easily.I personalty would do it this way for the automatic.

  • @richpin06a I am having problems with the intake manifold and the downpipe. I can't get it past one or the other?

  • @davisgarth10 In the video you can see i had a little moment too but a little prying and moving the engine got her out.

  • Never buy anything from Engine and Transmission World. Google "Engine and Transmission World reviews, complaints, scam". Do your research before you buy any used motor or transmission. EATW is a criminal enterprise. Beware !!!

  • @rite4lyf Thank you for letting everyone that.

  • Hey Rich, My $300 Saturn S series does not have a Head Gasket Leak, which is good...Took it in for a Diagnosis, runs good, needs Radiator and Valve Cover Gasket has a leak. Also my Drive Axle Driver Side Trans Seal is leaking after I had it replaced, must be something internal. (One question) on checking Transmission Fluid, do I need to have the car in Neutral when Im checking the Fluid? Thx again for all your videos..

  • @piratesbelay Automatic: car running and in park Standard: not running any gear.

  • Hey Rich, have a Plug that's full of Oil in my $300 97 SL2. It was running hot yesterday out of nowhere, and now white smoke is coming out of the exhaust, pretty heavy. I cleaned out the plug area, and its still smoking. Maybe you know something I could ck out? thx...Frank

  • @piratesbelay Could be a leaking head gasket or cracked head a combustion leak detector would confirm this.

  • i wish that i could take it all away........ thats why i need you to hear lol love this song...

  • Excellent!

  • can you shoot a video of your engine hoist? looks like youre using an improvise one if im not mistaken great vid by the way! any chance you could shoot a video of removal on ford focus sohc engine 2.0? thanks!

  • I'll never be swapping a motor on a saturn but I appreciate your efforts and video.

  • I don't know how I missed this video, Rich. It is what my Dad and I needed. We started last weekend swapping SOC engine out, but got stuck, I cannot believe I forgot the 4 bolts from the TC to the flywheel.

Also, I drooped the small support under the exhaust down pipe and it allowed for an easier time getting the pipe off of the exhaust manifold connection.

Thanks a million for your videos.

  • Thanks for posting.

  • Excellent video as always from Richpin.

  • rich pin #1 !!

  • How do you do that without cursing? :)

So is the reason you remove the front accessories is because you have to slide the motor off the transmission input shaft?

If this were a manual I assume you'd keep the clutch on the engine and slide the tranny off the clutch disk.

  • Hey Ray Romano fixes cars, that's cool, jj!! Nice video but since you're doing so many of these is a camera man in the budget!!

  • I am looking for an assistant ,if any female wants some face time on youtube contact me.

  • The Reason! good song

  • Nice, looks pretty easy to pull just the motor itself. When I pulled mine with transmission I had to pitch the motor up at a crazy angle for the transmission to clear.

  • இகழ்ச்சிசொலப்

  • Goood

  • looks like a carpet cleaner from this angle.

  • how much does an engine cost for 2001 saturn sc2?

  • I've got a '97 with a 5-speed. slayer420 mentioned that getting his '93 5-speed out was a pain, and my Chilton book says the same. What is it about the manual tranny that makes it harder to remove? I'd really like to take it out just like you've done here.

  • How can I get a rebuilt engine back in? The clutch needs to be mounted on the flywheel before the engine is installed but it won't fit with the clutch attached. Am I missing something here? Must the transmission be removed?

  • alright i'm going to do the opposite of this video, wish me luck. my friends though i was nuts when i took my engine out and decided to fix a throwwn rod on my own. lets see if i can prove them worng

  • I have a Saturn S-Series 2001 and Cylinder 2 is not working.

What cylinder is 2?? do you have a diagram??

  • Can you tell me if the dual cam engine (auto tranny)will come out the top as well?

  • Yes it will.

  • My car needs the flywheel to be replaced. Once I get to the flywheel, do I need any special tools to take it off and replace it with a new one? Is it complicated? Is there something I should know before doing the work myself? I don't want to pay the repair of something that I can do myself. Thanks.

  • The only special tool your will need is a torque wrench to tighten the bolts that hold the flywheel on.

  • good job man, I`m an English mechanic and you got that baby by the short and curlies !

  • try to do a 93 sc1 motor swap manual trans its a bitch your have to pull the motor out with the transmission

  • GM Top Engine cleaner is some pretty good stuff.

  • thanks for posting this...from everything that i have read, the engine is supposed to come out the bottom...nice to see you prove otherwise. Can it be done with a standard tranny as well, or is the pressure plate too thick?

  • With a standard you have to remove the transaxle with the motor.

  • is the motor/transaxle unit able to come out the top, or does it have to come out the bottom with the subframe?

  • Out the top with the help of a Load Leveler .

  • Did you disconnect the torque conveter from the flexplate?

  • Yes i did disconnected the four flexplate to converter bolts.

  • richpin06a, you forgot to say:

    This a video by richpin06a

  • I didn't have to it was part 2.

  • Give That Sucker Hell. :)

  • Did you not have to drop the front end at all? I have a 97 SL1 and was considering replacing the engine and possibly the transmission also. I was told the front end would need to be dropped, but I wasn't sure if that was because of the transmission or not. I've never had to replace a front wheel drive engine, only rear wheel drive.

  • You can remove the engine and transaxle from the top or bottom. If you remove it from the bottom you will have to remove the subframe which houses the front end components. If you remove the motor transaxle from the top you will need a Load Leveler / Engine Sling.
