  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

    OCCUPY MR STINKYPANTS ! ! !

  • don't these things have poisonous mercury vapor inside?

  • @sensibuddz Yes. Yes they do.

  • Screw them all; I'm going to buy an oil lamp.

  • yay led lights!

  • I have seen alot of people say test results, I'm simply thinking any test helps drive up cost.

I buy what ever is lowest cost that lights the bathroom, just so i don't pee on my self.

  • But the best best best thing is that the new lamp radiates at a frequency that makes people ill, so they will buy also more pills

  • The solution is obvious. Use your I-phone flash light instead.

  • wish that I could get the long life the cfl`s claim to have, This always fails to happen,

  • 2. Manufacturers sought and welcomed the ban on incandescents

    - and it is effectively a BAN on all known general service incandescents, including touted halogens, 45 lumen per W end regulation standard in enacted 2007 EISA phase 2 specifications applying in years after 2014

    (similar in EU, before 2016):

No. the politicians don't tell you that (and halogens cost much more, for marginal savings)

CFLs and LEDs not last as long as specified for many reasons - incl profits! (Ceolas net with refs)

  • It's even better than that...

    1. GE, Philips, Osram etc manufacturers already cooperated to keep lifespans down - lookup the Phoebus Cartel

That is why even today the standard incandescent lifespan is 1000 hrs

Recent German research shows a 1000 hr lifespan committee punished those who manufactured any longer lasting bulb.

Communist long lasting bulbs were blocked for Western markets.

The story is covered on Ceolas net

    .

  • in germay lightballs are illegal .. now there are heatballs. they are like lightball and they heat the room.

  • Where can I find some info on this supposed CFL subsidy?

  • that was GREAT! and so simple I bet even a politician would understand! :)

  • Freakishly great vid Paul!

    Thanks.

  • good video

  • Wow i think i found a great thinking man on youtube. im gonna subscribe.

    they should ban CFLs instead.

  • So true, that's how the democrats think, how can I control the population, so that we progressives amass great wealth and stay in power, all the while being paid for by the citizens of America, and soon the world. Where do they get the authority to regulate what light bulbs we use in the US Constitution? I read it again, and guess what? THEY DON’T! they only have 18 enumerated powers.. period. light bulbs are not one of them.

  • Paul - you're so right man. Be careful though...keep spreading the word and Immelt will put a bounty on your head, LOL.

  • like your video.

But so where comes the LED to play? Are they also subsidised?

  • Paul this is so awesome very well done man!

  • they have a light bulb that has been burning for over 100 hundred years because it was SEALED PROPERLY and has a massive TUNGSTEN piece.. so it just hasnt burnt out yet... and the CFLs are SUPER TOXIC... you wouldnt want to sleep in a bedroom after breaking one of those. ONLY LIES NEED PERPETUATION. TURN OFF YOUR TELL LIE VISION

  • Great message, but can you do a version for grown-ups please?

  • @Oldf0x This is the grown up version for those that think CFL are good for the enviroment. If a CFL breaks you have to put on a hazmat suit to clean it up.

  • laws change again..i heard that the old light bulbs are not illegal and the new light bulbs contain mercury are "hurting" the environment. no need to horde the old bulbs...

  • @OCSnowBoarder enforcement is defunded - the old bulbs are still illegal. we'll see how the next few weeks play out.

  • @OCSnowBoarder besides the mercury poisoning when they finally do die, they also fill your home with "Dirty" electricity. which can affect people with diabetes causing there blood sugar levels to rise. look it up before SOPA stops you from viewing information. better horde the encyclopedias now.

  • @OCSnowBoarder "the old bulbs" are still banned. Now you'll still be able to buy incandescent bulbs, however, they have to use a new process and there will probably be a new tax on it. They will be less efficient, produce less light, and cost more money. Also, the CFL's are subsidized by the Federal Government(ie: Feds are stealing our money to give to their buddies at GE even though they're made in Oppressive Communist China).

  • Oh so true.

  • That reminds me. I need to go buy a truck load of 100's and 75's before they are gone.

  • i knew i wasnt gonna regret subscribing. nice video:)

  • One thing I feel obligated to point out is that the major toxic thing that you are worried about in the CFL article is mercury - specifically, elemental mercury, which does NOT warrant the "Do NOT touch the mercury" warning that you have in your article. This video /watch?v=gjR6ZJzXdIs, specifically the comments section, can clear up some misconceptions. Methyl mercury, which would warrant your warning, is not what is in CFLs (as far as I know).

  • ROTFL! Paul, if I believed in institutional education, I would recommend you go into teaching elementary school, LOL.

Seriously, thanks to you we have replaced the CFLs we had in our bathroom with the evil incandescents. It's nice now not to having to yell at my 5yo for turning the lights on and off in there...

  • And this concept is why Australia has a carbon tax...

  • Nice touch with the gun flash. Stupid but true.

  • I buy the twisted devil lights. Did not know about the subsidies. But I do have to say that they outlast the old bulbs at my house & my electric bill has gone down. But I am very aginst the ban :(! I want a free market! Will there be a light bulb underground wher folks can buy regular light bulbs in a back ally somewhere? Will mothers have to worry about their kids hanging out at the wrong library? If I make my own electric from hydro am I exempt from the ban?

  • Great video, but have you looked at the clean up instructions, if you should break one of these new bulbs? Basically, you should probably just move....

Put this at the end of eps dot gove, /cfl/cflcleanup.html

  • I keep going into the super market, gazing at the array of new bulb possibilities, none of which I understand, so come out empty handed telling myself that I'd better do some homework, then forgetting all about it. I need a "Light Bulbs for Dummies."

  • @FedupwithR I use old fashioned, cheap incandescents. I calculate that I spend about $1 per month on electricity for my lighting needs. And this is the most luxurious lighting available. I bought some incandescent bulbs that are supposed to have more "happy light" (to combat seasonal affective disorder (SAD)) - but my old bulbs keep going and going, so I haven't been able to try the new ones yet. My advice is to shop for luxuriant light.

  • @paulwheaton12 That's some pretty frugal light use. If you use lights for 4 hours a day, an average of a single 70 watt light???? You must just use a reading lamp.

  • Mr. Halatosis later got a job in the President's cabinet as the employment czar. Shortly afterwards he shut down the offshore windfarm development projects he'd received federal taxpayer funded subsidies to create and his efforts into "green energy" also reduced his tax liability so his multi-billion dollar corporation paid no taxes in 2012.

  • how about doing one on the 'smart meters'

  • CFLs suck and are being replaced by LEDs for many good reasons. Check out Environmental Building News recent article on how they already taking over flourescents in commercial projects. Residential is not far behind.

  • Probably the best video on YouTube!

  • Great job on this video, Mr Paul!

  • OK- That was overflowing with awesomeness on so many levels!

  • Great video! Thanks Paul for sharing.

  • LOL, they fooled me too :) But I still buy the "evil Earth destroyer bulbs" because I use dimmer switches.

  • Ridiculous! Where did you ever get an idea like that fro... oh, hold on... ahhhhhhh!

  • Nicely done my friend....This should should be a public announcement cartoon short for the Country...!

  • The video is missing the end. You know...where they BAN incandescent bulbs and then REMOVE the subsidizing, and then the flourescent bulbs ACTUALLY cost $20.00 each.

  • @1samilitant At least then it will be more obvious. right now people insist that CFLs are better because they only cost a buck. Or are free.

  • @paulwheaton12 The CFL story nicely illustrates our new form of gooobermint. I like LED for very low draw and longevity especially for solar system. I haven't notice one LED light I have that has burnt out and the quality of the light is acceptable at least for those applications. BTW, I'm taking the Mass Rocket Heater and stove to the third world on my visit there. Hope I have the time to build and demonstrate one. It could be very beneficial. Thanks for sharing.

  • Great video Paul!

  • COMPACT FLUORESCENT LIGHTS ARE DAMAGING TO YOUR HEALTH! HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE, STRESS, MANY OTHER PROBLEMS PLEASE RESEARCH DIRTY POWER.

  • Paul, Love your story. How about creating another one about the new LED light bulbs?!

  • @doyle2001 well, i'm not sure what I think of the LED as a light just yet. I think LEDs make great night lights.

  • our

  • did they actually ban or past

  • Collusion. Once I used my army shoe shining skills to shine shoes cheaper and make a killing until I got death threats from the other local shoe shiners. I continued for about a year until I moved and they didn't have the gonads to put a knife in me, suckas. Good to hear from you again. You used to regularly pump out amazing videos, missed you.

  • i dont know why people are mad, they cost 1 buck per bulb, and you can still buy the others, just not 100 watt ones.

  • @imatelly they dont cost 1 dollar, they cost 20

  • @fergus247 if they cost 20 then why can i buy 6 for 7 bucks at walmart?

  • @imatelly cfls? because the government pays the rest. thats fine except the government gets its money through taxation and debt

  • @fergus247 what tax, depending on who you are depends on tax, roads are payed for by a gas tax,so on and so forth, sdepending on the tax, depends on who pays the tax,so to me its 1 dollar.

so what tax is it covored under and who actualy pays for it is my q?

  • @imatelly Sry it varies alot from county to county, which institution actually dishes out the money. But you could ask next time you go shop or look at package. Good chance they can tell you

  • @imatelly Watch the movie again.... very carefully this time, think, then post again.

  • When can we expect the Paul and Stinkpants action figures to be released?

  • @Raaszhecku I'll put you in charge of manufacturing!
