Did you use braided fish line for the dial cord? If so try wrapping another turn around the control shaft pulley or shortening the cord 1/2 an inch. As for the dial lamp leads I have to replace those ones in a while, especially the ones with rubber covered wire, fortunately most post war sets over here use vinyl covered wire. As for the grid cap leads that happens a lot, the tube heat breaks down the joint at the cap or the lead physically breaks inside breaking contact.
@OlegKostoglatov The valve grid connection is fine, it just needed a clean, It sucks they used rubber Insulated wire :( I just used ordinary fishing line, I lubricated the Tuning capacitor bearings, now it rides along quite well
@HDXFH See if you can find some fly line backing from a sporting goods store, for fly fishing, it's close to what the original dial cord was like. As for the grid caps sometimes you need to replace the leads and resolder the cap to the tube, and reglue it to the glass if it's loose. Sometimes the tubes become unglued from the base, I have a radio where most of the tubes are that way, but don't ever use superglue/krazyglue to reattach them, use either epoxy or silicone.
I've got a similar AWA radio, looks very similar inside. However, the tuning needle on mine twists, like you mentioned. Do you know how i could make both strings turn the same way?
just replace the volume pot and shell be sweet easy to many amatures on yuo tube
