It never ceases to amaze me how music acts much like a camera, and records, in vivid detail, a certain era or part of your past life.

This brilliant song was still being played on the radio in the summer of 1997, when I was deployed to the country of Laos, via Hawaii (Hickham AFB).

I recall driving around the island of Oahu, and listening to this song being aired. And thus, it captured that entire magical experience, of touring the island paradise.

I'm not pretty sure about the meaning of this song. Is it about a gay guy who falls in love of his friend who is straight? Or is the singer singing the song from a womans perspective? The line ".. I could never spend my life with a MAN like you.." kills the possibility of the song referring to a guy in love of a lesbian woman. does anyone knows the real meaning of this excellent song?
