  • What's interesting is that even when he's got a losing ticket (as seen in the dog racing episode), he's able to some how hypnotize the person behind the counter into paying out on a losing ticket. But that's another story, haha....

  • Comment removed

  • What's the lesson here? He even won the last race, lol.

  • @absgawd Yes, but only by putting up gobs of his own money on every horse and then slipping the winning ticket to Kadisha. That's the point -- you CAN win every race. In fact, it's inevitable, but only if you bet on every horse. That's the system.

  • He should have only placed 5 pounds this last time and it wouldn't matter because the system was over and she had won a lot of money

  • I guess where it takes money to make money, the refunds were part of the production cost. But I would say that the show made money, and so did the one person who won.

  • *sigh* She obviously doesn't understand what she was told about how this was done. While the horses were running she's saying "How could I lose, I've been so lucky all this time?"

But I guess if people understood statistics, racing wouldn't be as popular as it is.

  • Guy's face over Derren's shoulder at 0:17 - 0:18 is priceless.

He's thinking: "A little melodramatic, don't you think?"

  • If they did pay em back, that's a whole lot of money to give back.

  • Derren Brown has made me incredibly paranoid. I am beginning to think that my shadow is actually a Warhol painting no one bothered mentioning to me.

  • @DeenMoriarty Careful your shadow might be following you - lol !

  • didn't he say he is going to show us how he did that?

  • @leswowgammer

he did.... it's absolutely random.... did you not watch it?

  • @leswowgammer He just showed you, when he was trying out the coin trick a 1000 times till heads came 10 times in a row. There is a better way to do this, by interdementional beings as they have acess to stratas we dont have. I doubt you will believe me. Not one wants to get involved with for the price for whic you have to pay.

  • 21,000 USD dayum

  • He probably spent more refunding the other participants than on the final race. Considering they started off with 7776 participants and started paying at 1296 participants, that's a lot of money.

  • 24000$ he must have betted... cause of course he had to bet on all 6 horses...

  • How did he predict the last bet? Pure luck? o_0

  • Awesome. But he doesnt explain how he did that trick with the racing experts in the room with all the pictures. How did he pull that off.

  • @drmnys Think of it just like with the quarters and the deduction of selected winners, he may have repeatedly selected people until he got the perfect results...But in reality i really doubt he would have done that or it would have taken hours and hours and hours of filming. Who knows really. Well hopefully that may have helped, unless i'm missing the whole picture here lol.

  • @xMadeInKoreax Mmmm, not likely. He would then have to somehow get thousands of racing experts. I doubt there r that many in the UK. I may be wrong.

  • @drmnys He divided the the pay cheque he recieved that week into four, paid them to act surprised, then slapped them all on the ass and sent them on their merry way....and then maybe winked at the 3 men & blew them a kiss in a gay way.

  • Haha. Look at Derren @16 seconds... That lady just gave so much information about her whole persona to Darren. You can see it in his eyes. But look at the spectator's expression(the one with glasses) at 4:34. He's in the background just like awww yea so sweet.

  • this dude is eff up

  • If Kadisha had won by accedent (its only 1/4) it would have screwd the whole show.

  • The british pound in the eyes at 5:00 is a nice touch, Derren. Subtlety seems to be Derren's trademark.

  • @Ripley747 Wow I never noticed that.

  • @Ripley747 how in the hell did you notice that. both eyes to.

  • I could be wrong, wouldn't that be called systematic deduction? Anywho, He uses his intelect in this medium than through other shady means. Derren is awesome as allways.

  • lol at the guy in the back at 0:09

  • complete refund for almost 8000 people? THAT'S A LOT OF MONEY!!

  • @darkwolf38 Yeah but TV makes a bunch of cash too. ET ate a Reeces in the movie ET, right? That cost 2 mil for the owner of Reeces to get it in there. The average cost for a 30 second advertisement is 300k or something like that. How much were the tickets, again? 10 dollars? 100 dollars? Run a couple of commercials and hell we're making big profit.

  • well at least he refunded the money the participants betted

  • Cool show. The part where he tells her she gets the money after all was pretty edited though. Looked like they were just acting when he says he bet the winner, then the camera cuts to her actual reaction to him telling her she gets the money. Doubt he really bet every horse, cheaper to just pay her off rather than bet on all.

I would like to see the comments if they guessed the right horse, because the show would have ended with everyone wondering how they did it.

  • At 3:44 you can see a bunch of people have some kind of yellow or white tag pinned to their clothes. What's that?

  • I like how eh tells her BEFORE the race starts, but AFTER she placed the bet. Better than telling her after the race. Cause if the horse does win it wouldnt be much of a wakeup call. This way she has a nice rough ride through watching the race, before he tells her wether he ll replace her loss.

  • Now thats a lesson on probability!

  • hahaha, mindfucked!

  • What's the name of the song that plays at the end?

  • That was really intriguing! I didn't think that's how it was done... although looking back it was blatantly obvious.

I'm just wondering how he did that thing with the 4 photographs and the envelops and the initials at the beginning... he couldn't have used his "system" then could he?

  • Ayyyy! i still don't understand the system....i thought every body participaiting would win....disapointing

  • The system is changing what people believe. when some one believes in something then it becomes true. The whole coin thing is changing his belief system from highly impossible to possible,he spells it all out as he goes. Once the coin final lands on heads 10 times BANG now he has a new belief.

Derren believes..so he wins..simple. now go and change what you believe to be true and start to create the perceived reality that becomes true because you believe it to be.. this is the winning formula.

  • I love the 'Oh Shit' face on derren at 0:21.

  • I knew it was gonna to end like this.

  • yea the show bet 4k on every horse and switched the ticket. notice he never told her which horse would win, but with TV effects "we" know which horse "will" win.

  • Saw the brand new Enigma show last night in Birmingham absolutely extraordinary

Met the man himself after the show too - Worth every single penny, he certainly give excellent value for money - Loved the Spirit Cabinet trick, poor girl, she did not have clue what was going on - LOL

The bit with his mum at the end, swigging from the wine bottle, was excellent

  • he just used his own system on the last race- She bet on that one horse, he bet on the other 5, so there was no way they could have lost. He lost 2000 pounds to prove the point :)

  • Pretty badass idea to be honest.

  • This shows how religions keep moving forward. 1,000,000 can pray for something huge and wonderful, yet only a small handful get what they asked for. The 999,990 who get nothing chock it up to "God didn't want me to have it" and you never hear about it again, but the 10 who "get an answer" get all the attention and effectively con the losers to keep believing.

  • Did he just bet every single horse himself on that last race!?

  • Given a circumstance like this, I probably would've fallen for 'The System' as well. Not to say I'm stupid. It's just an exploitation of how our brains are wired to work.

This whole thing isn't about odds. It's all about how faith is created. You could apply this to something unrelated to odds, like homeopathic medicine as he says. The more it's worked positively for you, the more trust you place in it.

Doesn't mean you're stupid. It's not even malignant. In most cases, it's benign.

  • Shit all the money she Wins !!

  • Still don't get that part with the four people and the pictures and the order they were going to stand in. Was that scenario made over 8000 times again too with four different people?

  • For you wondering, how he knew the last horse that would win, please understand that because he told us she is the only person he has filmed for the last bet, doesnt mean it is true.....

  • @entmellon Hmm maybe it is true what he's saying, and by real coincidence she was actually the first one to win :)

  • I don't think the system is really a system. I think it is more of a theory. Basically what he says is to not go with what you believe? She chose 2, so he did not go with 2.

  • alright, i guess i just have to ask the obvious question here:

HOW DID HE KNOW WHICH HORSE WOULD WIN THE LAST RACE?

yeah, and shout it too. oh my. but really, how??

  • @lygophile Really? He equaled her bet and put 4,000 down on every single horse. The reason she happened to have the right slip is because he probably switched in (off camera) once the winner was decided.

Either that or he lied and still had even more people at other races he filmed on different days until he finally got one right. Basically, he played out all scenarios, which is the point of the entire freaking show.

  • so, that's very generous of him. seems like there are five horses racing, one of which she bet on. that's 16 grand he just gave her.

  • @lygophile Tell me about it. They sure did go to great lengths just to do this. 7,666 people and 7,665 of them lost money and were reimbursed by the show. They probably spent over 50,000 pounds total just to make a stupid point...

  • @apeluso12 yeah...i hope he made some deal with the bookmakers. he did still owe them something for ripping off their cashiers, making them pay out on losing tickets through suggestion.

  • @apeluso12 Not a stupid point. Several of the most significant points there can be. What looks like impossible is just improbable. There are tricksters out there who use this all the time. Magic and miracles don't exist.

They may have paid out 50,00 pounds, but they probably saved that much in preventing stupidity based behaviors.

  • Probably chose one with the lowest multiplyer and hoped for the best. It's obvious Moon Over Miami is an outsider.

  • @flippy102 Moon Over Miami was the joint favourite...

  • Did anyone else have this all figured out after the 2nd video? It was so predictable.

  • Totally saw the end coming!

  • if there were still other people other then her, why would he be with her alone when the race was going? another lucky strike? i think not..

  • Actually, she only met him after the others were eliminated. Only after she was the only one left, did she meet him. Which is why is was just him and her at the last race.

  • he probably used his talents to make the seller give him all 5 tickets ....

  • Except... the thing is that doesn't technically explain how he did that part with the 4 people picking out the photos and the such, since I doubt he did that a billion times, or even a million, if he was that lucky.

Unless they were actors, which he didn't say they weren't?...

  • Yes, that to me was the real mystery, I figured "the system" as soon as I heard the premise but that bit with the photos and the 4 people really left me stumped.

How the hell did he do that ? suggestion ? payed actors ? misdirection and sleight of hand ? I have no idea.

  • it's a typical trick for derren brown. he uses several techniques to combine their effects, which very effectively cloacks them.

from all the other videos i've seen where he reveals parts of his methods, he should be able to do this one with the pictures through subliminal messages.

watch the newspaper trick in the related videos. in part two he reveals it.

  • I believe that Darren bet on all horses and switch the ticket at the end

  • @Gabrielwong i believe he did the same thing but i think if she would have lost he would have told her this is the wrong ticket and pull out the wining ticket out of his pocket.

  • @Gabrielwong Yep. I'm sure he did. These programs have a decent budget, and there weren't that many options, so it was money well spent on a good story.

I can't get the point of it otherwise.

  • He must have placed the last bet on all horses.

  • damn, was the last horse race chosen with sheer luck?

  • but how did the system work earlier on for the 4 people who chose the people with the same initials as them out of the 500 people.. ?

  • The whole thing was probably a mental trick, which Brown is damn good at. There were a few parts:

    1. The people's order. This is the easiest. 24 different envelopes on him.

    2. The initials. Brown could have planted a subconscious suggestion about matching initials.

    3. The photos in the envelopes is totally 1 in 4 chance.

  • yeah wtf? lol

  • but Darren didn't explain how he can correctly predict how the 4 experts picked their photos... just purely psychology tat they would pick person with their same initials?? and just coincidence they stand on the respective circle in the correct order he predicted?

this system doesn't explain tat part though.. if purely based on probability and perspective... don't tell me he invited more than 200 groups of experts in 4 and just happened that the group he show in video picked the way he wanted

  • the "system" did ran through my mind but i didn't take it too seriously until i saw the last clip... WOW!

they really did spend a lot of money on this!

  • Did he bet 4.000 pounds on all five horses, and then switched her ticket with the winning one, or what did he do?

  • i dont think so, she said she had it in her hand the whole time. Makes me wonder how he picked the winner, perhaps there is a system :P lol who knows

  • Yeah I reckon that's what he did, I should think the show makes enough money to be able to afford that.

  • @Bulbapuck that, or just x6 more people, which ever is cheaper (some may sue lol)

  • I think he must have bet on all horses (or the ones most likely to win), He can't just leave his "cinematic ending" to chance!

  • Comment removed

  • and on the way home she was robbed !

    hehe

  • my dad fell into one of those system on the internet, we lost the house and had to move :(

but i'm happy for the one that won.. fucker

  • The funniest thing of all is that if you look back over the other parts of this program on YouTube you will see all of the dupes defending to the last the idea that Derren had a system and saying that the idea of him having e-mailed so many people was absurd. Ha ha.

  • Hey, but it would be possible that a computer somewhere from the 25th century would calculate the odds and come up with a system, wouldn't it? Or that Derren is sent from an alien civilization that is way more advanced than ours?

But otherwise, yeah, the idea of sending the e-mail to thousands of people was most plausible. :D

  • My name is Ismael Jose Silva and am glad that lady won and Derren brown i dont know how you did it but it was nice of you to help her. We do good and good come to us.

  • When she pulls off the ticket from her jacket, she hesitates for a second, look to the camera and waits for the signal from Brown to pick the ticket. Staged scene at this time!

  • But still, he guessed on the horse that he actually betted on right? Like, what if the horse that the lady thought would win actually DOES win?

  • he probably bet on horses.

  • THe moral in this is that its trick and luck.

Why wouldnt he have bet 4k pound on every horse and then slip the right number in the girl's pocket ?.

He tricked us with 10 faces in a row. Anywyas.

    Just thinking.

Or he would be extremly lucky

  • @saraheveleduc And how do we know "The System" stopped after he told us about it.

  • @dannyboy41: It has to. He can't be in 6 places at once-so he can't be next to all the participants while the race is going on. Plus that would add hundreds more to the necessary pool of people to get someone guaranteed to win one more race. I'm betting it's cheaper to buy all the tickets at the one race than pay for the manpower and compensation for adding another layer to the pyramid.

  • XD im tempted to call him a jerk, but hes still flippen awesome!

  • this teaches us about real life. It teaches us how we can be fooled by homeopathic medicine fortune telling and prayer. It teaches us not to believe what we see and be skeptical and not pompous about ourselves. We all would fall for this trick in some circumstances.

  • @princeofexcess

How am I fooled by prayer when I'm praying myself? You're trying to tell me I'm fooling myself? You have no idea what you're talking about, do you now.

  • @princeofexcess It also teaches us that the Fine-Tuning" argument for the existence of God is rubbish.

  • so you guys think that at the end for the performance effect he just wasted 25 thousands and bought all the tickets ?? and he flipped the ticket in her hand by a hand slip ... or what do you think?? how did he manage to win the last one?? or were there really 6 more people at different times. and he fooled all of them what ticket he is buying to increase the effect at the end. But it was really random as well.. its either or..

  • I think he bought tickets for each horse, yes. That much money is nothing to him. And he did "close up" sleight of hand magic at the start of his career I understand, so he could easily have replaced the ticket in her pocket or whatever.

  • Yes that seems most reasonable especially that she was emotional at the moment so she wasnt paying attention..

  • heh, or he could have been repeating this whole goddamn thing again and again until the final winner actually won. 1/6 every time. I doubt it though, you are probably right.

  • princeofexcess, ofcourse he would waste 25 thousands for this trick, think of how much he gains on this effect.

  • yea, that was my proposal. I was just asking of maybe other possible explanations. I really like this one... Its not only magic but it actually teaches a very important lesson on personal point of view. :) cheers

  • WTF is the point to this? what a stupid system. 7,999 losers 1 winner... guarenteed.....pfft... he better have hit that

  • You're new to Derren brown arn't you - I guessed you might be somehow ?

    :@}

  • how can you say that this is stupid and nothing special? The "system" in which he constantly referred to was right. out of all of those people she was lucky enough to win all of those races. so his point that it's not impossible just highly unlikely was proven.

  • The skill is in how he reaveals it. He uses a basic internet technique-a simple numbers game BUT he makes it look like a miracle. It's a very clever win for skeptisism I think.

  • Darren Brown is a skeptic, and he shows us how we are fooled by fortune tellers and other who claim to have powers to "predict" future. His system worked but only for 1 out of 800 people and thus proving nothing magical or supernatural is needed for such claims, only understanding of probability. To the woman he was a prophet, but to those who lost, he was a fraud.

  • @thelegendarypaki get a life

  • You must be the type of asshole that wants to be an asshole for the sake of being an asshole. Its okay. That is what happens when your mother gets raped but decides not to abort stupid fucks like you. Being too stupid to understand something is one thing, but being a little bitch about it makes it even more reasonable to destroy half animal-bred retards like yourself. Moron.

  • @thelegendarypaki get a fuckin life loser. seriously, i posted that comment so long ago that i don't even remember what i said. nor do i feel like going back thfough six months of comments to find out . so get a life you twat

  • Yeah sure I am the one with no life, but at least I am not half animal bred mule. You are such an idiot to say something stupid and then when somebody explains it to you so your peanut sized brain can comprehend it you bitch about not being able to remember what you said in the first place. When retarded breeds like yours dies, it will be better for humanity because we don't need garbage in our gene pool.

  • @thelegendarypaki go have a wank you little fairy

  • @pillsburyskin True and it actually increases odds for regular betters because someone is sure to keep winning this way

  • No it doesn't. The costs are fixed so that that house wins the net. If everyone puts down the same amount on every horse of a race, the losings would be bigger than the winnings. So the betters come out behind and the house ahead.

  • @kidkappa04 ROTFL

The point is that THERE WAS NO ACTUAL SYSTEM. You can't predict these things, and that's what Brown was trying to show.

  • @kidkappa04 this is a known scam people pull on the internet.

think how easy it is to reach, lets say 800,000 people, using a program that sends e-mails to random people with arranged wins of horses.

the only difference is that after 4-5 e-mails you ask them to send YOU the amount of money they want to bet, off of which you will take 10% commission.

if they all bring 4 grand thats 4 grand to you. and imagine how much the winner of the last race will bet next. and if you sent it to 8 million..?

  • thats not all part of the system He was by her side through the whole race. He must have had everyone elses tickets and just gave her the right one in the end... because he coulden't refund that much money but could refund all the others... and the photo thing... They did it over and over again... over and over, they must of been some sort of actors... Because he said. WE only think it works because we beleve it works. So he lied in some parts. Why not lie about that Get it?

  • LOL.....Lisa.... "OMG man 4 grand"

  • omfg! Darren Brown is a complete GENIOUS!

Kadisha must have been in the top of the pyramid becouse if there was 3 other people who had been betting on one horse each then Derren Brown would not be able to stand by everybody's side when they won.

So: he had to place a bet on every horse just as several ppl here allready said, BUT: How did he switch the ticket in her hand to the winning ticket?? Becouse chances of that being the winning ticket is only 25%.

And the thing with the photos?? Man..

  • derren brown is a magician he gets her emotional so she stops paying attention to the ticket and switches it... magicians can do it with people that arent emotional so that part was easy for him

  • I absolutely agree. It's the cheapest and easiest way to pull off that effect. I've seen this guy fleece a tie off a man without him realizing. One ticket would be easy. Sad part is, we don't get the opportunity to see when we does it.

  • absolutely trembling through the whole thing.

  • ok maybe he did the same trick with this last bet as well BUT the real question is how the hell he did what he did with the people that chose the photos...

  • hahahahahaha wow all the money derren brown had to give to the people that lost wow how sad

  • People seem to think he bet on all five horses. If so, then he after he gave her the ticket, and after the race was over, he would have had to pick pocket the crumpled ticket out of her hand and replaced it with the winning one. That in itself would be absolutely amazing. Perhaps he guessed accurately, willing to refund her for a loss, or perhaps he does have a 'system', or at least ends wanting us to believe so.

  • Did u even pay attention to any of the things that happened?

Don't you remember the coin flip trick?

  • This show must have cost a fortune to make

  • So what about the thing with the four experts?

  • Just some general misdirection, to make you as a viewer believe in him, also it makes for a kick ass flashback with all those photos and stuff :3.

  • So he bets 4k on each horse. What 5 horses? He's out 20k but she wins 13k. Sounds like Derren is the only one who lost here :P hehe. I like the overall lesson though. Perspective can easily be fooled unless you see the bigger picture.

  • On the last race it was just her. Did you watch the show?

  • Yes I watched the entire show. I didn't explain myself in entirety when I first posted. She's betting against 4 other horses, 5 in total with her's hoping to win. She might of been lucky to guess correctly throughout the entire show but she's now the last person that has made it to the top. Her luck has been exceedingly great but that means nothing now that she's alone. In order to guarantee she wins, Derren would have to bet on all 5 horses and give her the winnings to whichever horse wins.

  • She is not "lucky". She just happens to be the winner. In every race there were some winners and several losers. This was done to deliberately win winner's confidence.

  • Too bad she won... Would have been better if he just let her lose.

  • Serves the girl right, she just takes everything for granted.

  • 6 part series, I was wondering how is this guy pulling this off. I now understand the system. I had a feeling when he piace the bets something was going on. Way to go Derren, when you coming to the US

  • I figured out the system pretty quickly... as in "the only way this would work is if he was doing this to thousands of people." Wasn't sure I'd be right, but was.

When HE placed the big, final bet instead of her, I figured he was just betting on every horse.

  • Ok, i get it to the last bet, but last bet is on Derren, becoze one person left, how coud he now??? That is real question.

  • Because, like in previous bets, he bets on all horses, and show only winning ticket.

  • maybe he bet 4k on all the horses.

  • OH MAN. That was some STRESSFUL SHIZ.

Thanks for putting this up. :D I can't get enough of Derren Brown. He's AMAZING!

  • No problem you are welcome, keep an eye out in September. The Derren elves suggest that a new TV offering is about to be released

  • will his new show be shown in the US if so on what channel

  • this show would have cost derren a absolute fortune

  • Not when you compare it to the revenue earned from the show.

It would be small beer to Channel 4 / Objective Talent

  • It might also be possible that kadisha was not actually at the top of the pyramid and in fact darren had actually used more people then he said. That way if kadisha was actually in the second highest level of the pyramid darren could film them all one by one until he got a winning ticket. Which in a race of only five horses and with all the statistics available would not be that hard.

  • Its fucking Darren Brown.. he predicted where a soccer player would kick the ball before he kicked it down to the exact little point... he can make a person stop walking by squising his hand.. he has an extra sense or someshit im sure

  • i figured that's what he was up to from the third video. it would have been more entertaining had he given a false explanation. more mystical.

  • Derren never lies, that's the cool thing about him.

  • how funny would it be if she just said fuck off to derren and ripped up the ticket

  • I thought she would have been pissed when he told her how the system works!

  • Watched all six straight thru - thanks for posting - fantastic stuff

  • You're welcome

  • LOL !!!

  • lol the whole point of 99% of derrens shows/performances is to show that he isnt a fraud and that he doesnt bullshit but just shows certain sides or uses manipulation and always shows us how its done. Hes fucking amazing, and all other players got a refund as it said

  • Kadisha did not check her ticket at the start because she trusted Derren,.... Jesus christ he spent a whole 5 minutes explaining the belief system to us and you still don't get it...

  • He looks nervous then very relieved at the end. I suspect that he had multiple plans, after betting on all horses. Plan A was to tip the favourite, giving him a better than 1:6 chance of simply winning. Plan B was to count on her discarding the ticket when she lost, then pick it up, palm it, and present the winning ticket from his sleeve. He went to Plan C: to pickpocket her after the horses came in, and slip the winning ticket in. Plan D would have involved simply handing her the winning one.

  • So you're saying the show matched her 4000 on all the remaining 5 horses before the race to guarantee her a win? I guess that's small change for a production.

  • yes, he put 4k o n ALL horses

  • LOOLOL she was about to drop the ticket aswell!

  • Yeah, imagine if she ripped up the ticket on the spot?

  • Lol that would be balls for her 13 grand cuz she was stoopid... im wondering why didnt she look at the ticket in the beginning?? -.-
