  • I REALLY wish they cast someone other than Tara Fitzgerald.

  • the music to this series (the one played here) is beautifully haunting, can anyone please tell me the name of the piece....if anyone knows, i would truly appreciate it....thank you.

  • I like Toby, he is handsome.

  • hmm... he doesn't seem to be that sorryXD

  • Toby is JUST as playful as I imagined Gilbert to be in the book.

  • Tara looks awful here-very bad hairstyle, and her gruff voice is very annoying. She sounds like a man almost. She should lay off those cigarettes-bad for the vocal cords. But Toby looks handsome as always.

  • The hairstyle is really ugly.

  • Although unflattering, Tara's hairstyle is actually quite accurate for the time period. The same can be said for Jane Eyre. The austerity also suits the character's social status, etc. I prefer it when a production is historically accurate that way.

  • I love productions that are historically accurate as well but surely they could have found a time appropriate hairstyle that was not quite so hideous?

  • By and large, the hairstyles of the time were ugly. Especially those ringlets over the ears. Jane Eyre's, in more than one production, looks like the underside of a dressage saddle.

  • @WldIrishRose - "I prefer it when a production is historically accurate that way". I absolutely agree, and I don't think the hairstyle is that bad anyway.

  • Toby Stephens is the most amazing bronte actor. I have to say he was the best Rochester in the 2006 version of Jane Eyre and he totally won me over. If you haven't seen his performance as Rochester, you have to look it up NOW

  • Yes, he's amazing!

  • Tara Fitzgerald is almost always in quality Productions.

  • love love love toby stephens! (& that accent!!!)

what is with them always giving Bronte women terrible hairstyles?? okay, jane eyre you can excuse but helen is actually meant to be 'handsome' !!

and does anybody else find Arthur heart-meltingly cute when he says 'Mr Markham'?

  • The music really sucks though - sounds rather anachronistic, with the drums and whatnot.

  • Yes, that's exactly what I thought. Terrible music thru and thru!

  • Oh my God - I just realized how gorgeous Toby Stephens is! That hairstyle really suits him (and I think he's the only person who could have pulled off the long hair in Jane Eyre).

  • toby stephens is soooo sexy =)*rawr* xD

this movie seems to be very nice =) thanks for uploading! I think I'm going to buy the whole movie =) =P

  • Im nearing the end of this book now, i love the story. The Brontes had such talent.

  • holy....he's delicious :)

  • I wish someone would post this whole movie. I'd like to see it.

  • I was wondering the same thing. Where can I watch this movie??? does anyone know?

  • does anyone know where I can watch more videos from this movie? I am trying to figure out if it's available online or if I'll have to buy the DVD. Thanks!

  • do you know were i can download this from????

  • I don't know the novel but does she really have to look that awful? I mean hair and everything...

  • Same with Jane Eyre. Her hair was horrible and he fell for her anyway...

  • in the novel she is supposed to be hansome and beautiful , the characters in the book are better than these

  • whoa is this girl the same actress who played the evil aunt in the 06 Jane Eyre? if so, its creepy to see her with Toby/Mr. Rochester in this lol.

  • well, except for toby(*sigh*)i must confess i prefer the book, which is really well written...and really full of love, duty and woe

  • Alright, dammnit, I've had plenty of Huntingdons in my life, where's my Mr. Markham??? S'about time!

  • I loved this. Toby Stephens is so underrated.

  • her husband was the worst, scumbag if there ever was one

  • I was just going to post something with a similar message but with more expletives. You said it well, though.

  • The casting of Helen was way off and the novel is way more amazing!

  • Heaven, he's so sexy!

  • *shudder* I just can get the image of Mrs. Reed out of my head...

  • It is a lovely production, if not accurate to the book, I think it portrays Helen and Huntingtons relationship pretty well. It was this introduction which made it very hard for me to see TS as a very convincing MrR, I just cant picture him as "an ugly man" after this .... :-)

  • i don't think they ever intended to be true to the book and cast an "ugly" mr. rochester...

  • if they did, they failed....but no they didn't, the film-maker said she wanted an actor who would be "knockout gorgeous"

  • Sure wish Tenant of Wildfell Hall was on Region1 DVD. I would buy in a nano sec. That Toby Stephens is such a good actor and handsome too.... His mother Maggie Smith must be so proud.

  • wow toby was very attractive when he was younger!

  • Is Toby Stephens Mr Rochester in Jane Eyre?

  • Yes.

  • What's funny is that Tara played Mrs. Reed in the same production

  • Love Toby, he ALWAYS executes everything so well! I get a little distracted by Esther's hair though! NOT a good look on anyone.

  • i love this movie!!!

he is so good in it!!

  • Did the scriptwriter actually read the book? Esther married Helen's brother Lawrence, she never thought that Gilbert had married Eliza. This clip has definitely convinced me NOT to watch the movie, if it can't be true to the novel.

  • The novel is much, much better. You would be disappointed.

  • Rochester and Reed.lol

  • what?? It was Gilbert who thought Helen was getting married! Why did they do it the other way around??....Ok thats quite disappointing..

  • i agree

  • Where was he at the beginning? was someone getting married? I'm trying to remember that part in the book...

  • yes, Gilbert was at a wedding. Helen thought that it was him getting married to the parson's daughter, hence her congratilating Gilbert and wishing them both happiness, etc.

  • gorgeous, romantic and lovely!

  • SO Romantic ...sigh
