I have seen so many not so nice video's of Scottish Country Dancing on YouTube, this was like a breath of fresh air and brought back so many memories of dance classes I have attended. Hope you are going to add more Scottish Country Dance videos to this excellent one. Dan in Port Glasgow.
hey guys....anybody know dances that have only men? i know there are highland dances (i think)...but anything else? specific dances would be nice, thanks
@empress4lyphe - If you still need to know - there is The Reel of the 51st Division, which is very well known it was devised by soldiers of the 51st while they were POW's in WWII. and very recently The Kandahar Reel was devised by soldiers of The Black Watch while on active duty in Afghanistan. Ladies can join in these dances but they were originally danced by all male sets
Just started Scottish Country Dancing myself, and it is fantastic exercise, great fun and I really love it! This video is great for showing the basics. Everyone should try it, it's wonderful! :)
Interesting. Is it true no knickers is a non-negotiable (ie no knickers allowed while dancing) option in Scottish country dancing? I read that somewhere......
I loved this when I was at school. They look like robots in this video though. Plus well done for using young people, you know, just to defy any stereotype....

Scottish Country Dancing is awesome.
Loved it at school. Even though I was crap, I always gave it flat oot :P So yea, I was a popular partner.
Rarely did it in a kilt, thankfully, as well, when you are going at any speed, the sporan starts to... bang about, uncomfortably.
But yea, shame no younger people, and shame the main lass has a sick voice.

I loved it at school too, but it wasn't till I got to the Commandos at Arbroath that I started dancing again.
Sidecrank, if you can't believe a bloke would do that, perhaps you're don't think the Commandos are macho.
I think it teaches self-esteem, quick thinking, team cohesion, as well as being good exercise and a lot of fun.
As a retired officer, I really recommend it to every one.

I LOVE Scottish country dancing.I am Scottish and it does keep you fit! It really does.
Scottish country dancing is totally awsome, i pure loved it @school. it was a chance to get hold of the boys too lol ;-) Us girls liked that!
