  • This is one "synonymous" video. =p

  • Your video is a favorite on Ankara

  • What footswitch is used?

  • hey, for the wah solo in the beginning, were you using the wah that's built into the gmajor 2 or a seperate wah?

  • Is it possible to use the g major, a triaxis and a furman as a head on a cab ?

  • @DKxSLIPKNOTxDK Not quite. You also need a power amp.

  • Ιs the g-major 2 true by pass ?

  • @aris17561 I don't think so, but do ask support. I recommend you try it:)

  • Comment removed

  • Does the G Major 2 have its own distortion, or do you have to rely on your amp/other processors/effects for distortion?

  • can u use the TC Electronics G maj 2 on a bass rig ?? has any one tried it out there in You Tube world ?????

  • the G major 2 is probably a good processor but the sound in this vid is part something else..like a good amp and whatever he has rigged on the Major 2

  • any idea what expression pedal he's using?

  • does the G Major 2 have a parametric/graphic EQ function?

  • @Podarias

    The EQ of G-Major 2 is a three-band

    parametric equalizer.

  • I am in love with the G major 2!!!!!!!

  • Ciao, i have G-major 2 and for me he work very well.. simple to edit with professional tone..for you with a Marshall JCM 900 head in send return were is the best configuration routing: Parallel..Serial...

  • how can i reach a similar wah sound for distorsion? i can't find the right way on my g major 2...

  • what would you say has better quality in effects, the G major 2 or the G system?

  • @em0p0wa I think you should test them against each other and decide for yourself?:)

  • That was in E minor not it's relative G major :o(

  • Can the G major switch channles on an amp head, or just combo amp?

  • @BuryingNashville It can do both.

  • Hi, can anyone plz tell me if the G-major or G-major 2 has latency or slow response issues when using the Relay switches for amp channel switching? Ive read the G-system is a bit slow when relay switching. Thanks!!

  • Компрессор на клин класть не надо!!!

  • With the wahs and whammy from the g major 2.

Do they work when ran threw the effects loop?

  • @StanwoodSpartans -Yes they do.

  • I'm trying to get a more professional rig and I am looking at the G Major 2. I went to see the band Blackfield, and the guitarist Steven Wilson had a TC Electronic G System. I was very impressed with it, and started looking for a processor similar but for a lower price. I really like the G Major 2, and I want to use it with a Carvin SX300H, but I have not been able to find out what foot switch I would need so I'm not glued to my amp for an entire gig. If anyone knows, please respond!

  • @dhammittify Google: what midi controller tc gmajor 2, and click the first (our forum) result. Hope it helps :)

  • The Tri-chorus, sounded terrible...

  • What drum VSTi is that?

  • Great demo!

  • Could i change channels on my amp with this?

  • @88segovia No. This is an effect processor. A set up that would include amp channel switching would be using a midi foot controller to control this device as well as a voodoo labs audio switcher which will allow you to change channels on your amp as well as control stomp boxes in your rack.

  • @88segovia yes

  • This is a great video of the G Major II ! How's the preset switching on that? I'm considering buying a G Major II but I need instant patch changing via my midi pedal board, with as little delay in switching as possible. I bought another VERY expensive rack unit and was VERY upset to realize that I can't use it live because there's about a 1 second delay in changing presets, which renders it useless in a live situation. I was hoping this could switch presets with little delay. Any help?

  • how do i set up my g major 2 with a ground control pro and can i send my other items in the rack in and out of the g major 2

    thanks

  • What's the use of having a wah effect block in a multi-effects processor that is designed to work in an amps effects loop? I mean, I know there are no rules, but for most people the Wah goes before the distortion. Is the wah in this unit designed to sound good after distortion or something? I love TC Electronic products and want to get a G major 2, but can't figure this one out. Any help would be great..

  • @zaulkin check out our support portal and user2user forum to get more info.

  • @tcelectronic Thanks. You guys make great delay pedals...thanks.

  • Can I loop my other pedals to this system?

  • @taurus1269 G-Major 2 doesn't feature a loop system like G-System. but you can use your external effects in front of, or after G-Major 2. but it can switch channels on your preamp/amp.

  • Would the gmajor 2 be able to switch both my channel switch and overdrive switch on my Cornford MK50 through its single switch jack using a stereo cable?

  • @carvindc400 Please contact our support they can help you with this.

  • what foot controller is that ¿???

  • I have a Mesa Boogie Mark Iv, it has an Effects loop.

I was originally looking into the Gmajor 2 for reverb and delays, but the chorusing sounds good, so I was wondering, how would I go about making the Gmajor work with my amp? How could I change presets inside the Gmajor, if it were in my rack, from the floor?

Could I loop it with other effects?

    Thanks

  • I have just purchased a g major 2. I own an Engl invader stack and want to use the engls midi foot switch (the z 12) to change channels and add effects, all via the g major 2. Basicly i would like to be able to just push one button and the amp channels will change and effects such as reverb, delay etc will come on automatically, i assume that this is possible via the g major's relays ? Also will i need to buy any other leads etc to enable this to work? thank you, simon

  • I have just ordered my G major 2 which i am going to use in conjunction with my ENGL invader, Via a Behringer fcb1010. I want to be able to control my amps channel switching via the Behringer/ g major. Will i need to buy any special cables in order to do this ? if so what is recommended?

  • What the name of this guitar?

  • @Narukari1 Looks like a Yamaha SG2000.

  • anyone know how the delay(s) on this compares to the tc nova delay? do they both use the same processing?

  • HENDRIX REVERSE DELAY!!!!!!!!! it was so awesome I pooed.

  • Can this rack make sort of a RUSH sounding chorus/delay/distortion or anything very close?

  • What are the Amps, Stomp pedals, Midi expression pedals and wah using in this video?

  • Comment removed

  • Hello Hello i heard this unit use relays to switch channels on amps and Would this unit help to control switching channels and program to use on different settings an old Mesa Boogie studio preamp that use a normal 1/4 instrument cable with a mesa switching pedal.. if so what do i need since like i read hear use stereo relay..

  • Does the expression pedal come with it?:

  • Comment removed

  • Can you run two effects at once like the pitch shifter and whammy at the same time???

  • I just ordered a gmajor2 :D

  • i have a marshall vs 100 head and 4x12 cab ,,it has an effx loop but it mixes from 0 to 100 % would this be a good thing to use in my amp i like the tone but can i get that through my set-up thanks for reply

  • Does the ART X-15 (footcontroller) work with the G-Major 2? And the Behringer Fcb1010? Thanks.

  • what's that guitar?

  • @MrManson94 Yamaha sg3000 (re-issue)

  • Comment removed

  • how do i use the g major with podxt live?

  • He did a great job with this demo, totally sold me. Waiting for it to come in the mail!

  • Søren Andersen = Great danish guitarrist. I'm guessing he's danish based on his (horrible?) accent..

  • @KimAvlastenok im thinking german because his shirt says berlin

  • This guy's rules ~ really great

  • first of all thank you so much for taking the time to explain me everything i will try to find out if i can solve this issue, but can i check this with an overdirve or some other stompbox turning the mix knob to 100% and the stompbox output all the way dow and see if the loop gets 100% wet??

Once again thank you very much for your time and i hope it works i really want the g major :)

    Regards from Mexico.

  • How is he switching the channels with his feet? Does the g-major 2 come with a footswitch of some sort?

  • @GuitarRocks23455 Hi,

Soren is using a Ground Control Pro Midi Board to switch between presets and turn the effects on and off.

    Cheers,Tore

  • @tcelectronic can tc electronic make a tutorial on how to connect and setup Ground Control Pro with G Major 2

  • @silentboy85 I agree... It's about time for a tutorial considering Tore is using a GCP in this video and it was posted over a year and a half ago... Digidesign/Voodoo released a tutorial for setting up the GCP with the Eleven Rack like 6months after the official product videos were released...

  • Okay then... I have an egnater tourmaster 4100 and I want to buy g-major 2 for effects. Is it possible to use amp channels mixed with g-major 2 effects? If yes could you tell me if it will work like that Amp--->G-Major 2---> Midi Switching System like voodoo lab ground controll pro? Do I need anything else to make it work? Sorry I have no idea how it works and thanks for respond.

  • @FungusLabel G-Major 2 has a stereo relay input, which is essentially two relays in one jack. That will allow you to select between the four channels on your Egnater Tourmaster. If thats all you want to do, then you wont need anything else, but if you want to control the reverb and effects loop as well youre going to need a midi to relay switcher.

    Cheers,

    Tore

  • Hi I'm really interested in buying the g major II, i have a mesa boogies 3ch dual rectifier wich has a parallel fx loop i see that you recomend serial fx loop in order to some effects such as the whammy and wah work properly my question is do you really recomend the g major II for my amp? is there anyway to conect it to make all the effects work well or it is better if plug it into the input?in this video the g major is in the fx loops and he´s using mesa boogie amps these amps have serial loop

  • @rvo239 Any effect that isnt a mix effect (a mix effect is where the effect is made up by mixing dry unprocessed sound and processed sound) isnt going to sound right in a parallel effects loop. The reason is very simple: The amp effects loop is mixing in dry tone along with the processed sound making the effect less pronounced. Just like mixing water with wine will make the wine taste (and effect J) less pronounced.

    Continues in next post...

  • @rvo239 An example would be a classic hard tremolo where the signal is cut completely for a stuttering effect. If you amps effect loop is always sending dry signal straight to the power amp, you wont be able to achieve that effect as the volume is never cut completely.

Below are examples of effects that does and doesnt work well in a parallel effects loop:

    Continues in the next post...

    -

  • @rvo239 Examples of effects that WILL work great in a parallel effects loop are: Delay, Chorus, Reverb, Flanger, Phaser, Univibe, Harmonizer and more

    - Examples of effects that doesnt work well in a parallel effects loop: Wah, Compressor, Whammy, Tremolo, Vibrato, Panner and more

All of them would work fine a serial loop.

Thats why my first recommendation is to crank the mix knob on the effects loop to 100% and use G-Major 2 in normal mode. (That is with KillDry off.)

    continues...

  • @rvo239 That should at least in theory turn the parallel effects loop into a serial one, which would solve the problem. But unfortunately not all parallel effect loops can be turned to 100% wet some will always pass a bit of dry sound straight to the power amp, which is a bad as youre almost 100% certain of getting phasing issues thatll ruin your tone.

    Continues...

  • @rvo239 You can check whether your Rectifier still passes dry sound through the loop at 100% by connecting the G-Major 2 to the loop, setting the loop mix on the amp to 100% and turning the output level of G-Major 2 all the way down. If you can still hear the guitar coming through the amp (and speakers) then the loop isnt 100% wet. And in that case you cant use this approach.

    Continues...

  • @rvo239 Overall the problem is related to the design of the loop. If you only use mix effects, then a parallel loop can work fine, but as soon as you want to use effects like whammy, tremolo, vibrato, etc. then its not such a good solution. This is due to the design of the loop and there are no multi-effects processors on the market that can fix that. They all have the same problem.

    Continues...

  • @rvo239 G-Major 2s inputs are made specifically for use in an effects loop and wont sound very good if you plug a guitar into it. On top of that delays, reverbs, etc. sound VERY bad when placed before overdrive and distortion in the signal chain for the best sonic result they should always be placed after the drive, which is why your Rectifier has a loop in the first place.

    continues...

  • @rvo239 So if the effect loop cant be made 100% wet, then Im afraid the only other option is to just use the effects in G-Major 2 that will work in a parallel effects loop and add stompboxes in front of the amp for the effects you cant use in the loop. Placing G-Major 2 in front of the amp isnt a recommended solution.

    Cheers,

    Tore

  • @rvo239 Hi there. due to the long answer I had to make multiple posts, so remember to read them in backward order.

  • i'm looking for a rack unit to do delay, anything else that is added on is cool, but delay and reverb are the main things i need. does this unit suffice in having a wide range of reverbs and delays? (im used to a line 6 DL4) Also is there ever lag when changing presets?

  • I want the g-major so bad, it's exactly what i'm looking for

  • will this work with the Voodoo labs gcx and ground control pro?

  • @guitarnick914 If you look on the floor in the video you can see that he's using that same control pedal to control it lol. Also, my buddy has both and yes, you can use this system with the Ground Control Pro, as my friend does.

  • @nakedaxe thanks man

  • @guitarnick914 Yes the Ground Control will work perfectly. We actually use it for internal testing at the TC Headquarters.

    /Tore

  • is this better than the g system?

  • Hi everybody!

I'm DESPERATELY in need of help.

To put it short...I've got a BOSS FV500L and Ican't get it to work with my GMAJOR2...Does anybody have a clue?

I've tried lots of options, but I'm quite a newbie with rack units...

    I'm going crazyyyy! :( :( :(

  • @JanSybilla Perhaps you should use two midicables, so the units can comunciate both ways, not just one? :) Cheers, and GZ with one AWESOMELY good choice

  • Oh! I happened to get it working!!! :)

...I had to put JUT a MONO CABLE between the EXP section of the pedal (which has TOO MANY inputs btw!) and the EXT Control input ofthe GMAJOR2...Now it really ROCKS! ;) ...thanx and have fun!

  • @JanSybilla awesome! Good luck mate

  • was that wah effect from the g major (so it would be just a foot controller ?)

  • hey dude. Awesome bit of gear here, great sounds. Wat song is being played at the start and end of this video tho?? its so rockin

  • Comment removed

  • was this played in front of the amp or in the fx loop

please answer... i´m serious planning to get me one of these

  • Hiya Gabba,

In this example the G-Major 2 was in the effects loop.

    Best wishes,

    Joey @ TC

  • Oouu Yeah! Thanks man! I´m VERY impressed by the sound of the G Major 2 and also of your sevice!!!

    Damn fast!!!

    Thanks again!!!

  • i have a peavey valveking 212. is it worth to buy the g major2 for that amp? or should i buy a boss pedal, like the gt-10?

im using a me 20. i dont like it very much, to noisy

  • omg the pitch shifter an especially the intelligent pitch shifter are so great! Nice stuff

  • Which is better, Line 6, Boss, Vox or G-Major 2??? Money is not issue, can someone please just give some good advice. I would prefer to have a volume pedal and wah pedal on the effects unit but can't see a wah pedal on the G-Major 2?? I do have a Jim Dunlop Cry Baby wah but not sure how I would connect it to this unit or if I will just introduce lots of unwanted noise but doing that. Any help or advice greatly appreciated. This G2 does sound nice but something is lacking, sounds very digital?

  • if money is really not an issue the gmaj2 is the best choice out of all of your list. it doesn't tone suck like boss would. as for the vox and line6 ( i assume you are talking about the amps not the pedals they sell) the are terrible amps (great for practicing though). the gmaj2 is great if you want to play live, but remember you will need a midi foot controller of some kind to go with it. hope this helped!

  • @mixmasterlees, thanks for your help, much appreciated. Does the Gmaj2 have any distortion or overdrive sounds. I'm only talking about effects pedals. Is this gmaj2 better than boss, Vox Valvetronics effects, Line 6. I thought the Vox sounded better because it has a valve.

  • The gmaj 2 is much better than all the ones you listed. I dont remember if it has dist or overdrive. but the efx are sweet. Anything by boss (as much as i like boss) will suck your tone because of itt terrible Bypass. Same goes for line 6. The vox Might sound a little better that the boss or line6 but remember it only has a ONE pre amp tube (which wont help Your amp any) and multiple solid state transistors. The biggest advantage to the Gmaj 2 is that it WILL NOT SUCK YOUR TONE.

  • @mixmasterlees im also planning to buy the Gmajor2. if im correct, ill also have to buy a expression pedal (to control the wah and the volume?) and a midi footswitch?

  • Thats right mate. I guess you will also need to buy a floorboard of some sort to switch between presets/effects. Shame they can't incorporate it all into one unit. Unless they do?

  • I would get the tc electronic g-system. It does pretty much everything you could possibly want. combine that with any good tube amp and your sound would be godlike. A bit of a learning curve though.

  • Cant realy compare

G major 2, its a rack multi FX

    but IMO

    Zoom beats all 4

  • Anyone know what guitar he's using?

  • @gbgg9409 Yamaha sg3000 also given the name "les paul killer"

  • I can only find 3 demo's of this unit on youtube. I'm very curious about the sound of the modulated delays, and I'd like to know more about the pc/mac editing.

  • what pedal is he using

  • Rack is back! I just picked up a brand new G-Major (the original) for $250 off Ebay. I don't think that the G-Major 2 is worth the extra money. Pick up one the originals second hand for under $200 and save yourself some money.

  • that univibe made me sick

  • Yeah but that requires another 200 dollar pedal, another external wall wart on my pedalboard for an effect the gmajor is supposed to have. Fwiw, tom morello uses his in his effects loop. And it's not like it can't sound like that ... Video shows it working fine. After a 500 dollar processor and a 500 dollar midi controller and a 75 dollar expression pedal, you kind of hope things will work eventually :). Any help TC with setting this up? Running a liquid foot junior and a Roland ev-5 here.

  • Hi people..

I'm currently considering making my own guitar rack. My budget isn't really big, but I can afford this one, Is it worth it? There's no distortion effects or drives in it? Compared with my Boss ME-70, is it better?

    Thank you in advance.

  • if youve already got a nice axe (high end like a real PRS or.. something.. thats the only guitar I recommend, for the price... MJs are awesome too haha) and a nice amp (something tube based) then yeah you should only need this and maybe a dirt box / wah. my current rack is about 5 pedals into a GCX, a mesa dual rec and this in the effects loop to add ambient effects, etc. sort of like how tim mahoney runs his stuff (but mine is midi driven)

  • @goingwithzed

Well, I have got an Ibanez Prestige guitar and a "tube-based" amplifier. I've been considering the Line 6 pod x3 live lately as well, just because of it's awesome amp simulations. I tried it out today, might get one of those then later buy a g-major 2and make my rack. Not right now though.

Are you using the G-minor to control the G-Major 2 or another midi controller?

  • I can't get my gmajor 2's whammy to sound like that... I switched controllers too, thinking it was the controllers fault. Now I am using a Roland EV-5 into a liquid foot junior. Still sounds like an on/off than a continuous shift like in the video. I've tried pretty much everything, including adjusting the curve response in the gmajor 2 settings.

  • new whammys can be MIDI controlled... and will sound more accurate in front of the amp anyway... and can be had cheap (got mine for like $100 used I think)

    just a thought.

  • What expression pedal is being used? Is it the X1?

  • MAH ...

  • what guitar is that ?

  • Its a Yamaha SG2000

  • SG3000!

    40th Anniversary!

    I got to have one!!!

  • Excellent sounding effects, cant wait to add one, to my rig!

    also

Søren's tone was perfect for this demo!

  • A more detailed demo of the g major 2 would be very welcome. :)

  • I've heard that the G major 2 has modulated delays, but there's nothing in this demo or in the manual about it. I'd like to know more about this.

  • Hi Joey! I'm buying the G Major 2 for this Christmas. But there is no place I can try it in my country, so i'm buying it more less blindly. Can I use several effects at the same time? In order for the whammy, wah and reverse delays to work properly should I use the G Major in the loop or in the input of my amp?

    Thanks for reading this!

    Cheers from México.

  • Hiya Heil :),

You can use several effects in the same time. The 7 effect blocks can be active simultaneously In each block you can choose a specific effect (sub-algorithm). What is not possible is to combine the effects of the same block i.e. not possible to have a Chorus and a univibe together but you can have Compressor / EQ / Filter / whammy/ Chorus ) Delay and reverb together..

  • For the whammy and wah a serial loop is required, for delays, reverb, modulations, a parallel loop is also OK- So we always recommend a serial loop, because it works with all effects.

    Best wishes,

    Joey @ TC

  • I wiah I had my JCM-800 back from the late 70's early 80's it was all hand wired and the sound just isn't matched by the Marshall's of today. Don't get me wrong, I still love the Marshall's but it isn't the same. I prefer my Mesa boogie Lone Star now to anything I have, Now that I think about it I have alot of electonics(heads) that I need to get rid of. I thought i wanted a new MarkV and then i was like, geeze what am I thinking...I do love them though//// dmdt you sound as bad as me.

  • im not sure about these effect's unit's....i wouldn't know were to start with them lol i think i will stick to my pedal's and just get a guitar tech to do all the switching for me when i gig...

  • sounds beautyful! i want 6!

  • Hi!

    Where do I plug it?

I front of the amp or in the fx loop?

(Tuner, Compressor, Wha.... actually comes in front of the amp and reverb, delay...in the loop, so where can I plug it, and where is it plugged in this vid??)

    Thanks a lot!

  • Hiya Fabian,

There are several ways you can do this! If you download the manual from our website, there are several examples of how to set this up in the manual :). Definitely worth checking out!

    Best wishes,

    Joey @ TC

  • is it true that there is a lag with preset changes?

  • Hiya zebric,

No it isnt true that there is lag between preset changes on G-Major 2. We have however found a software bug that causes latency between presets if the phaser or univibe is used. Were currently working on fixing this.

    Best wishes,

    Joey @ TC

  • noob

  • this is so cheesy

  • Comment removed

  • what kind of guitar is that? its sweet! anyone know? thanks!

  • I don't know the exact model but it is a Yamaha

  • Seems that the Wah Wah effect is NOT coming out of the G-Major 2?

I think because a Wah Wah AFTER the Distortion generally is not sounding good.

  • putting tons of shit on your guitar is almost as cool as plastic surgery

  • he is a good guitar player but he's not good in talking

  • english isnt his first language, give him a break

  • What midi pedal is he using?

  • Voodoo Labs Ground Control Pro

  • i am about to ask the same question.

  • The wah sounds bad, the rest is good :)

  • if i want to buy a g major or g force do i need effects pedal with it or its all in this...?

and second, if i wanna buy it and play iwth my amp do i need something elsewith it like a power amp if i dont even know what is it...

  • u can get the g minor midi pedal which is matching to the g major but u can also use a rocktron midimate which works well also. as for power amps, its not a preamp its only an effects processor so u can hook it up to ur amp head/combo amp as long as it has an effects loop im not sure if it will work without an effects loop

  • It will, but effects like delay and any modulation won't sound as good as it would in an effects loop.

  • You don't need an effects loop; I never use one; I run everything in front of my amp & it sounds damn good (I have the G-Major 1)! It's just a matter of taste & what you're use to. David Gilmour doesn't use an effects loop (as far I know?) I know he didn't in the old days. listen to 'Dark Side Of The Moon' - it sounds amazing) I mean Hiwatts and many over great amps don't even have effect loops! So yeah, it's really knowing how to get the best tones out of what U have!! Either way it will work.

  • I agree with dmdt, everything i have plugs in front, I've never cared for the FX loop. if it doesn't sound good or work in the chain it doesn't get used. The older i get the fewer and effects and a more simple setup is what I prefer. Gilmore sure got some sweet tones from his Hiwatts in studio. The amp I use now doesnt even have an FX loop but everyone is different, rock on.

  • Yeah, none of my amps have an effects loop (except my Fender Hot Rod De Ville - but I don't use it. haha): Sovtek Mig 100 - Traynor YBA 1A Bassmaster - Ampeg Reverberocket 2 - Black-Heart BH5H - Fender Hot Rod De-Ville. Another thing these amps all have in common (except the Fender) is: They're all single channel amps!! Well, w/ the YBA-1A you can jump channels together like any old Marshall or Hiwatt or any amp that has the 4 inputs. Sounds great, BTW!

  • can you control the delay tempo from the Voodoo Ground Control? Tap Tempo feature?

  • Yes :-)

  • G-Major 2 is pro gear used by great guitarists like Brain May and Steffen Schackinger, which all have GREAT tone! What amp and guitars do you have? Did you put it in the FX loop?

My G-Major/2 sounds awesome! So there are probably other reasons for your bad tone.

  • sounds like shit to my ears :)

its a yamaha sg3000 by the way, not an sg2000

  • thats the same guitar the guy in kajagoogoo used. does anyone know what the heck it is?
