I was on the Pine Ridge Reservation last summer. I didn't see one sign advertising the casino. Not one. The locals don't need to spend what little funds they have on those machines. They are so poor and that guy living in his van in winter is so sad. I have heard of a form of house building that uses bales of hay stacked and held in place with metal or wooden rods punched into them from top to bottom. Then the walls are plastered with a cement like stucko. The hay is inexpensive and thus the houses are very affordable. The hay walls are extremely good insulation. Just throwing out an idea. I wish I could help these people.

Great video. I lived for a year in Bolivia and directly witnessed the resurgence of Andean culture and sovereignty against ongoing Spanish cultural imperialism there. Great things have been achieved, the Aymara Evo Morales has been president for nearly 3 years and in that time, Aymara and Quechua have become official languages of Bolivia. This would be a good model for the Lakhota and other Nations under U.S. occupation to adopt.

They do not work hard for every single WHITE MAN'S interpretation of what is "anything". They most certainly DO try to have things while trying to retain their religion and culture. A happy medium is possible. Remember also, many American Indians are educated within the legal, medical, engineering, and education fields, as with others. Also, the gov has stolen, every day, individual Indian money in D.C. held in trust, intentionally and admitted to on the record. It goes into the billions.

I'd also like to add that, in the past, when tribal unity was taking place, the gov did most certainly start getting involved in scandalous ways, like the Wounded Knee occupation for example. The gov wants to keep them down because politicians know all too well what could happen if more Indians started valuing education, unity and multi tribal unity, which the US gov does NOT want, for so so so so so so many reasons, three of which are money, land rights/use and power.

Oh that's okay, I didn't know that was about different tribes. We actually had the opportunity to spend some time at Pine Ridge in 04, and at Leech Lake, Red Lake, and White Earth in Minnesota. That's when I learned about the true history, ya know?
