Good singing and guitar. Like the way you pick the strings and not just strum. You should record the 2cd song you sang at the festival. Not sure that sally gardens needs to be slower.
Sorry this is a late reply! I do sing this slower in live performance. Also, I used to play it in DADGAD, but I have forgotten that arrangement. The conventional tuning allows you to get the first inversion in the D, though I guess that would still be possible in drop D.
Too fast in my opinion. This is a song about some great thinking about our attitude to life, about the need of reflection and inner-looking, therefore it requires slower pace.
This notwithstanding, well sung and awesome guitar playing.
Your musicality and appreciation of the song comes shining through with every note and word. This song means a lot to me and you surely did it justice.
Hi, and thanks for the nice comments. I have in the past sung 'first song', and 'you well meaning brought me here', and probably one or two others, but not for years. I'm a great fan of his though, and first saw him over thirty years ago, and last time about 3 years ago.

liked your trad-english folk style
you could try drop D tuning=DADGBE I think
it would go well with your chords and
voice...I think you where a bit camera
shy and that's why you rushed the tempo
little..But that's nothing, its a folk song
after all and your not doing a karaoke

Great ;-) Lovely voice and fine picking.
Do you do any Ralph McTell stuff such as
Girl from the Hiring Fair, From Clare to Here, The Setting, Red & Gold, First Song ... ?

Nicely sung. You have a fine light tenor voice which James Joyce would have appreciated...
