@speedskiff2 they used to stop the races in the middle of the day when the train was comeing the prock and howell willys went 160 mph on fuel the chute didnt open he overran the shutdown area and the sand trap hit the cable the cable cut the roof off almost cut his head off hit the roll bar and stopped the car / a similar thing happened someplace else when doug cooke crashed his willys and broke both his arms
@spacepatrolman never saw crashes @ Island. Early 70's @ Englishtown watched AA/gas Willys qualifying during Summernationals never shut off till almost end of shutdown, lose chute, and roll about 7 times in field, S/S satelite rolling over just past beams after posting 121 mph, and Levi Holmes' Black Knight pro stock Nova crash in beams...they all walked away. something how those moments remain with you, right?
I was just at Island on Friday. It was only my second time there, and I already love that place. Another few weeks of working on my '69 Nova and I'll be running it there.
Wow, this is different than most race vids. You used lots of different camera angles and close-ups, which kept things interesting- nice work! I've never been to Island on a Saturday, now I now what I've been missing out on... thanks for posting this vid! :)
Nice piece . . . interesting study. Pleasant.

@snowmaker2000 I couldn't agree more man. If you've got a loose front end, you'll find out before you get to the track haha
