First of all, he buys green energy, which is different than buying carbon credits. Second, carbon credits are still good. Emissions trading is not only a market-based solution to reducing carbon output, but it provides an incentive to develop clean energy technology. How much have you done to reduce our use of fossil fuels?

yes, the climate of the earth has changed throughout history, much more than the one degree change over the last century. even this modest change has not shown consistent trends over the industrial era, the effects so far have not been catastrophic, and the human cost of abruptly cutting carbon combustion would likely be very high, and wouldn't make any difference if the modest climate change has other predominating causes, as it was for most of the earth's existence.

First of all, he buys green energy, which is different than buying carbon credits. Second, carbon credits are still good. Emissions trading is not only a market-based solution to reducing carbon output, but it provides an incentive to develop clean energy technology. How much have you done to reduce our use of fossil fuels?

Your question shows how far you've looked into the available research. Past warming periods never came anywhere near current levels acceleration rates.
It's not conspiracy stuff, just that Khan probably reads a book now and then.
For the record Gore is a dildo and I've very little respect for him, but if you critically analyze his claims you'll find some of them are valid.
Try applying SCIENTIFIC METHOD - knee jerk politics won't do any good. And you must read.

Hey Felix, what caused the glaciers to cover most of America? What caused them to warm up and melt? What were the temperature levels of those warming periods vs the current period? What big books are those answers in, besides the "Liberals Hysterical Guide to Global Warming, and Other Urban Legends"? A display at the Smithsonian in Washington DC says it was warmer from 1860 to 1940 than it is now, how do you account for that?

I shouldn't have to tell you how to find published studies, but you could start with the IPCC reports and the Arctic Impact study from Cambridge.
If the S.I. display you mean is from the Baliunas study you should know it's been almost universally rejected as laughable by the scientific community.
Which you'd know if you had any interest in science.

yes, the climate of the earth has changed throughout history, much more than the one degree change over the last century. even this modest change has not shown consistent trends over the industrial era, the effects so far have not been catastrophic, and the human cost of abruptly cutting carbon combustion would likely be very high, and wouldn't make any difference if the modest climate change has other predominating causes, as it was for most of the earth's existence.

If you have such superior reasoning capabilities, tell me which makes more sense: 1) Believing the thousands of climatoligists and environmental scientists who make up the International Panel on Climate Change, or 2)believing the word of Sen. Inhofe, whose education consists of a B.A. from the University of Tulsa and who has received more than $1 million in campaign contributions from the oil industry?

inhofe has a good point about gore's hypocrisy. as for the science, the catastrohic predictions are based on assumptions that are not supported by past observations. do a little research on youtube and keep an open mind. the whole scheme is about money and politics, and many scientists hopped on the bandwagon just to avoid being steamrolled, but many have risked their careers pointing out the errors.

Lets put it in small words you'll understand. Gore is polluting out the wazzoo, then invests money in his own company (ie: PROFIT) to say "Oh, I bought my way out of my carbon footprint!" All the while he asks everyone else to dramatically change how they live so they don't pollute at all. That is the definition of a hypocrite.

Joey, you can't compare CERTAIN science that addictions are heinous for you (drugs/tobacco/alcohol) with UNCERTAIN science for the newest "save the Earth" fad. The science used to 'prove' global warming is all hype and no substance. Even if gw is happening, there is NO WAY we have enough time/data to even come up with a circumstancial relationship between climate change and mans activities. The Earth is not a static realm, and man can't stop natural cycles.

I completly agree with the doubt that this may all be a natural change (wich i hope it is) but i still no harm in trying to change our way of life, and our relationship with the earth's natural resources. There is no doubt in my mind, that be it through GW, pollution or deforestation, that we are harming our environment. And we need to change with our without Global Warming being a threat. We have a lot more reasons for us too use greener energy, not just GW.

Most often I'm proud to be on the forefront of change, being a liberal. For once we don't have to hide away from those in power. Then, there's Gore. This global warming HYPE makes me sick. The only reason its happening is MONEY. Green is handed out by the Bush Adm. in the billions to scientists that promote G.W. What happens if they tell the truth, that there's no real evidence man is the cause, that we can't stop it even IF the environment is changing? They lose that money.

Magician, honestly... to be so obnoxious to think you made the Earths climate change is ridiculous. Gore even refutes his own agenda in the entire interview (go watch it). The Earths climate is effected by SOLAR issues, by the tilt/wobble of the Earth. We're overdue for a NATURAL ice-age, and temp change happens BEFORE carbon increases. Ancient carbon readings show that at Earths hottest, carbon was at its lowest.

Khan, I watched the entire interview, and it ISN'T taken out of context. Inhofe was asking REAL QUESTIONS, not the P.C. crap everyone asks Gore because "Oh my gosh, its the former Vice President!" Get past the fame, get down to the hard science, and Gore is a fraud, plain and simple.

Thats actually a fairly big assumption you make there about "the other side." I want to hear the science. I've read and pursued papers on the topic. NOTHING I can find comes even close to what they want us to believe. The only reason Gore is listened to is because he's famous. The G.W. hype can't stand up to real scientific fact.

Evolution is a well established scientific theory, and 99% of respectable scientists agree on that fact. Global warming only has circumstantial evidence and no real science behind it. You really can't compare the two.
