what is the point of taking them to a more high-tech hospital? Once the symptoms show it is almost always too late. A better volunteer idea would be to start up a rabies vaccination program.

So I refreshed the video to get rid of the commercial (this actually used to work), and instead it switched the original 13 second ad with one lasting 40 seconds. Gotta hate capitalism sometimes.

what is the point of taking them to a more high-tech hospital? Once the symptoms show it is almost always too late. A better volunteer idea would be to start up a rabies vaccination program.

I'd say start getting an assload of rabies vaccines out there and kill every single dog in sight. That'd stop the problem. It's horrible, but so is seeing children die of this horrible disease.

Sadly the money for such a grand project would no doubt come at the expense of other health care treatments like HIV and Malaria which remain far bigger threats number wise.
I've seen this type of thing in India and generally the public just do not seem motivated enough to change things. The vaccination lasts only a few years and the spaying is only happening to a small amount of the animals which are called in sick.

@kensa93 no u should not kill all dogs but how do you take care of your kids when some people dont take care of their pets and let them loose ( i live in a city, i see it happen) we have raccoons here, those that are infected do bite other animals. So how do i protect my children and take responsibility, when im just walking to the store and a rabbit dog comes out of somewhere to attack.... maybe i should have looked in my magic ball and got milk a different time.

So in order to save lives, I would say the infected need to be shot, and the not infected need to be vaccinated. Of course, it's probably a much bigger problem than that.

@AmyNRickyForever except shooting them can be quite messy and a hassle to clean (shooting can be expensive too i think), but yes, they should opt for vaccination (but not mandatory). many people don't like needles, and it could be avoided simply by not making contact with dogs at all.
