@OJmastersz The manufacturer of your motherboard will have a list of BIOS revisions and what the updates were for if its a respectable manufacturer. If the machine you are using is a prebuilt one by say Dell or HP, lookup your model number and they usually keep it in the Drivers Section for downloads. From here it should have a list of the revisions as well. Hope this helps.
@Gdale32djs goto asus website locate the bios download along with asus update utility and flash the bios u can do it all from windows using the asus update utility simply loacate the downloaded bios on your desktop and flash
!!WARNING!! If there is nothing wrong with you pc/laptop ,like no error no driver problems no any kind of problems at all. Then don't update your BIOS at all. !!WARNING!! go to you pc/laptops brand name website e.g. ( toshiba, asus, sony) and fine your laptop model. then got to driver-software updates area. find the newest BIOS update (if there is one) usually it will tell you what its going to update. like maybe it will update some new sound cards just released, or maybe some bugs fixed.
i did this b4 with the operating system on and the computer wuz just acting very slow but then it showed my bios wuz updated and i was scared that it wont work but everythins good the pc is great lolz
If you ever have to do it again, I would highly advise against doing it in windows or anything like that for fears of the infamous BSOD flaking your install out and smoking the BIOS.
Freaked you out into? So are you going to do a BIOS update or do you mean i just freaked you out to not update? Because by all means!, A Bios update is a great thing, just make sure your downloading the right BIOS and to read the changelog included with the bios so you know why you would want to update it :)
haha i just updated my bios a bit ago and it did that! i freaked out and so did my friend because the text was Japanese so i just restarted my pc and it was all good
cool...nice job but theres another way to do that... i just use Asus Update program to do that... but at first when i download the BIOs File (.Rom) i update from file speaking of that i use MyLogo before flashing the bios... then i put a corvette C6 Logo on the startup... but during that process.. first it erases the ROM File in the BIOS and flashes a new one and verify it... easy huh? but its a lil lag... so it takes time i was like i thought i'll mess up with my PC... XD
Well you are disregarding the age of the PC and the firmware. This was a crappy old HP with a 1900+ in it, at the time it was my main rig because i lacked money and anything better than that chip. Anyhow yea I love the newer ASUS Bios, my MythTV machine has this neat fastboot option on it so I can load into linux and check mail and such without fully booting into my OS. (I can change the logo too heh) and my im pretty sure my ASUS Rampage Formula can do the logo changing and crap aswell...
But yea, really things have advanced ALOT over the years... I cant even imagine a bios update in the late 80's. I can just imagine pulling out the eeprom and having to manually flash it, or send in to have one shipped in the mail.
Well thank you for that information, but it really doesnt matter, I was just trying to say things have advanced and its stupid to ignore that fact and think "well I have a computer and word now, why the hell is that guy in the 1950's using a typewriter".
im building an asus p5q pro pc this week and i think that you can update from the disk since it is more modern, however im sure i saw a clip on youtube saying if you do it this way it will not work and you will be fooked, i hope this is not the case becasue i dont want to do it the old fasioned way
Well you're sorta right.... with most new motherboards like my Rampage Formula... yes this is a possibility. With old motherboards such as this one (the Bios on a shitty HP with a 1900+ in it) no you can not do it through windows.
noo jade javel wutever it does not matter why you uploaded this i still thank you for it because i had to update my bios and it was a serious reason and this gave me a idea of what it was going to be like so thank you.
:] Well i'm glad to see it helped somebody, I just threw a few videos that I had already taken and were on my pc up when i started my YouTube account. Im just very glad to see that I inadvertently helped you :)
Wise up, what are you at, I could do the same thing but I would not waste nobodys time... Catch a grip on real life... people like me want to learn, not look at a criminal waste of time,
wtf are you talking about...? If you think this is a waste of time then good, it is. Thats why youre surfing youtube. You should get a grip on reality and realize alot of things people do is for nothing... so what?
So i do you fell now after doing it for the first time? Do you feel relieved, and proud of yourself?
You must say to yourself now: "wouahhh, i cant belive it, i did it for the 1st time, that was so great, i hope i'll have new occasions to do it again pretty soon" ah ah ah ah ah
