  • truly amazing!

  • I still come back to listen to this clip and everytime i am in awe.

  • proud to call him my uncle

  • Great tabla playing! Such controlled virtuosity is rare these days. :)

  • and he is IMPROVISING in this clip! can u steal something from another players, when its improvising? NO :)

  • I should correct myself as i know that such compositions are passed on....My only and i just was trying to say it is foolish to compare anyone to zakir ji........

  • kandgenterprise,

I dont think its rty for u to say its foolish to compare anyone to zakirji. Yes, zakirji is reali reali good, a rare gem, but i think you haven heard enuf of yogesh ji. He's extremely excellent, a very very good tabla player as well. Very spontaneous as well. And we all shld rem ryt, that every1 has their own strength. Just my two cents' worth kandgenterprise.

  • What's the use really of comparing Yogesh Samsi over Zakir Hussain ? They are both maestros, both playing great music and they are both individuals with their own style and personnality. My point is, listen to both and enjoy the music ! :]

  • Ustad Zakir Hussain has learned from Ustad Allah Rakha (Abbaji)his father and has made a marked improvement in his skill to such an extent that he can make new creations on the spot and can have fusion with any instrument in the world.

Yogesh Samsi, a true student of Abbaji has devotedly learned lessons from him and has preserved the teachings of the Gharana. So when you hear him play you will feel the essence of Abbaji's teachings and the Punjab Gharana in his playing.

    I love both of them...

  • please more of yogesh samsi ji's solo clip

  • More Yogesh!

  • Nice. But somehow cannot help: Indian music has today degraded to this kind of deafening "automatic riffle" cascades - Zakir, Yogesh etc. etc. Interesting for a while but a bit tiring in bigger doses. Deep emotional leves, meditation etc. are values that are almost unknown in the contemporary Indian classical music. As if everyone wants to impress by speed a number of tones per second.

  • True say

  • Buy Yogesh CD from Earth Vibe Music. I think it costs about eight pounds. After listening to all 13 records you will be convinced he is undoubtably number one in the world. Above is not that impressive.

  • I have seen Yogesh play live. I have also seen Zakir live and let me tell you i was more impressed with Yogesh than i was with Zakir.

  • your crazy lol this entire piece is stolen from a zakir shiv kumar concert in the 80's...zakir does the exact same thing..

and it is undiputeablly beter...this guuy is a great tabla player...but if you ask him ureself he'd say he stole this item from zakir

  • Yes Yogesh is Alla Rakhas student and he also practises with Zakir. So he would never play Zakirs compositions without asking him. I prefer Yogesh's playing. I have seen them both perform live at the Barbican in London.

  • he would never play zakirs composi. without asking him??? :D omg o.O what are u thinking, pt yogesh samsi is a master, too. many composi. which are played from zakir ji are not his own compos. there are not going to any tabla player and ask him: " its allowed to play your composition?"

  • I think you need to understand the concept of Indian Classical music before making comments such as these. Why would he need to STEAL any compositions from anyone when your Guru was the Late Ustad Allah Rakha from the age of ten years old.

  • Zakir is a genius, a musical phenomenon. Its naive to compare any tabla player to Zakir, let alone Yougish, Yougesh is a good tabla player no doubt. He is Ustad Allah Rekha's student and plays everything from that same Garana

  • Wow Awesome!!!
