not only is he lovely, genuine, self depricating and beautifully so, he is a genius - I am convinced! There are too few musicians who you listen to and feel almost bereft when the song has ended, he seems to pour all life's vileness and hatred into his songs and at the same time they have so much redemption in them like he breaks you to mend you all in a few minute song - perfect! perfect! perfect!......
I decided at the last minute on my birthday in 2006 to see Aqualung at the Bowery Ballroom. David Ford was the opening act. This song attached itself to my psyche for months.
I am absolutely floored at this young mans talent. I've been lucky enough to be friends with some greats and this doesn't come along too often. Congrats!
very very very inspiring. When you look at this sort of things, the first thing that comes to your head is "whoah... gotta try that" Ford shows that music can be made without using expensive proffesional instruments and other stuff.
this guy is great, does any musician/guitar player out there know exactly what kind of equipment he uses to do this and loop it all himself so perfectly. Looks like he's using some type of pedal but I've always had trouble looping pedals? If anyone knows get at me...
I saw him & met him a while ago & my friend was asking about it all. I'm not too good on anything musically technical, but he did say he just uses a pedal.
i did too. Ingrid is so one of my fav fairly new artist and so are the opening acts... matthew perryman jones and of course david ford!! state of the union how he did it was so raw and ridiculously great I wanted both of their cd's!!!!! 3 dollars in my wallet and a debit card didnt buy me JACK though lol
Which reminds me....Does anyone remember, 'You don't believe, we're on the Eve of Destruction..' back in the 60's. As I said, ain't nuthin new. The shame is it's 40 years on and still nobody listens.

Someone sent this to me and said it was 'brilliant'. Hmmm... like what.. like who? Like Einstein or Neil Young or that film-score genius Bernstein??? Kind of falls short of my expectations, so I never got to the end. A couple of lines was all I could bear. When you've lived long enough, unfortunately, you've heard it all before. N ot much new under the sun.
WOW Marvelously ART! I like it A LOT! especial the end. Nirvana in the background?! Only recently i find "David Ford" art. if you like "David Ford" It might be YOU ALSO WILL LOVE to look for the master-artist: "Damien Rice". Thanks vaporized for your grant on make this video. Thanks David Ford for your art.
it's a memory-man machine. It records a bar of sound then plays it back on a loop until told to stop. if you keep recording new stuff it'll stack up the layers on top of each other, like him singing a backing vocal, then stacking a harmony vocal on top, and another harmony on to, etc. etc. etc.
It's not just the silver microphone - it's hooked up to the guitar and piano too.
I recently saw this live and it just blew me away - he's so so good! and really nice too.
He has & does quite a lot! I saw him a few days ago, i'd heard people say he wasn't that nice as a person, but they were wrong, he was really nice & friendly :)
He is amazing, he has been out in the U.K. for nearly two years now, and has one album released entitled "I Sincerely Apologise For All The Trouble I've Caused". I believe David is also currently working on another album. Good stuff.
HE is gifted and brilliant! Your skin will crawl or you will bawl. Awesome and a bright star! you are right we are lost but glad to have found you. Come back to seattle soon!
Wow dude, just wow David Ford has a new fan today

I don't think so unless they got both the word and type of word wrong. You wouldn't put "a" before an adjective on its own like that.
"1. of the nature of a portent; momentous.
2. ominously significant or indicative: a portentous defeat.
3. marvelous; amazing; prodigious. "
So I'm pretty sure they used it wrong at any rate.
KurayamiShikaku 3 years ago
i loved this song, but i never saw him perform it.....he came across as a portentous.

Now THAT is impressive. Uses a loop machine like a beast and can obviously write full band arrangements in his head. Genius.

He is the most talented artist I've seen in years. He is simply amazing - he projects such a primal melody. He is definitely my favorite artist.

if you can't appreciate this guy's sheer talent, you're missing something..i've never seen anyone do what he does, and he does it live...
clemep 4 years ago 3
Oh & he does it like this when he plays it live. It's really impressive!
badofcheese 4 years ago
When he plays the instrument, does he use some sort of technology that just repeats the sound? Or is it already prerecorded?
I love this guy.
Seveninat0r 4 years ago
the instruments are on a loop. if it was prerecorded there would be no point running around trying to play each instrument.
crallow 4 years ago
yea but what makes them like that O_o...like, is it the special microphone? or what? like, whats the technology?
just out of curiosity, i love it
