I have known of this video for very long, but every time I see it... It just leaves an incredibly bitter taste in my mouth. The Iran-Iraq war is very personal to me. You see, I was born in a city that was right in the battle-front.
The French are being very apologetic about how Iran was the "black devil" at this time, but supported Saddam in an aggressive war of conquest. A war that entailed extensive use of chemical WMDs.
I spit on this cynical barbarism. Truly, shame on France for this.

Iran part said that had captured prisoner from 19 countries including Sudan, Jordan, Egypt ...many Arab&African countries
No doubt that "Gates" interpreted maps for Iraq intelligence, Germany Holland &... gave them chemical bombs and after that they accepted victims to search about the chemical effects!!
Do not forget 290 innocent civilians in Iran airbase plane that shot down bay USA!
It's true that iran received equipments from US which partly were supplied from Israeli warehouses but they sent back the ones that had the Israeli manufacturing mark on them even though they were in real need. iran also were buying USSR equipments from Bulgaria and china not directly from USSR.

Iran was under sanctions. For most of the war they were under severe shortage for military equipment. That is why since the war they have launched an ambitious plan to be self sufficient in military equipment. As an example, you can see Iranian made, SRBM, MRMB, Jet Fighters, artillery, and tanks. They did get some minor help from Russia
@Roust7 I am sorry again? Who was brokering military parts from Israel to Iran? Have you ever read about that? Or at least heard about that? Even the same French bastards were selling AMRAAM missiles to Iranian Air-force Units at the same time when they were selling to Saddam.

If you have spoken to any of Iranian Vets you would know how much they were lacking in equipment. If they had a way to get tank why would they send the kids in front of the tanks to clear the mines. Soviets probably helped Iran more than others but again their help was minor. Some of the soldiers didn't even have the right boot

Also, while the Iran-Contra affair did indeed involve a small amount of arms, Israel sold way more arms to Iran than that, as you probably know. And while Israel certainly had its own obvious reasons to bomb the Osiraq reactor, is not like the Iranians had reasons to complain about it, did they? :)
@wat0n yes u are correct, covertly the US gave them arms(mainly spare parts for their planes) to Iran, also Soviet Union gave some arms to Iran, however the arms provided to iran were nothing compared to what Iraq was getting, Iraq was getting direct support from USSR, France, All the Arab countries with their oil, jus financing and giving him state of the art equipment, USSR itself gave huge numbers of tanks and migs to Iraq, the small amount of arms Iran acquired is nothing compared to that
