Divergence of 1.2mRad is good divergence but if you do the maths, that is still enough to lose burning power at 15 feet.

what would be the point of getting a beam expander? wouldnt it be smarter to just spend more money and get a higher mw rating like one of the hulk ones? also im looking ino getting the 95mw viper series because its as much as i want to spend. what kind of things can i expect from that sort of power rating?

With 95mW you can light matches, pop balloons, cut black paper and project a beam with a range of at least 3 kilometers.

Normally you can. Depends on the angle of the laser. The beam is normally easier to see in person than on camera.

Your may think that laser beams are perfectly straight like this.. || ..but actually the beam has a divergiance and will spread out like this \ / but only by a few millimetres every so many metres, the beam expander will focus the beam so that it will be rather than 2-4mm divergiance it will be 0.3-0.7mm < just guesses but thats what it does, it will make the beam more powerful and focused onto a point further away : )

It is the large chunky part that Carl attaches to the laser in the beginning of the video.
