it is called a pinch harmonic produced by picking and then directly touching the string with your thumb! so you get a 2 octave higher note...

What mic you´re using? Any additional gears? I own a Mark IV (short combo) but it´s impossible to get such huge sound......

I used a Shure SM-57. Other than the usual studio gear (preamp, mixer,...) a G-Force was used for delay. The Mark IV combo is cool but if you want a bigger sound I suggest getting a 2x12 or 4x12 to go along with it. You'll notice the difference instantly.

I preferred your earlier attempts. This just didn't sound convincing to me; bad timing, dodgy slides, string noise and actually a missed note I believe. or two.

After watching his earlier attempts, my opinion is: WHO THE HECK CARES?! Are you deaf? Come on, just LISTEN to this tone! He already proved that he can play this solo, now it´s all about the tone and feeling, 10/10 in my opinion. "actually a missed note, or two" Just kill yourself!

Wow!!! Dude that´s freakin awesome!!! The best Mark IV tone i ever heard from a 'regular' guy. Identical to Petrucci´s on Systematic Chaos, I had to register myself to congratulate you. Fantastic playing, you definitely nailed it! Loved the Pantera camera lol Great video too, it reminds me Petrucci´s instructional video, you gonna release yours?

I appreciate you registering to give me such a nice feedback. You caught on the pantera and instructional thing pretty fast. Those definately were the looks we tried to resamble. I won't release an instructional anytime soon. I don't really think I have anything new to offer. There is more than enough material out there from hundreds of amazing guitarists. Right now I'll just focus on writing new material with the band so we can hopefully release an album next year. Thanks for watching.
