Why do you want to control your diabetes type 2 when you can get rid of it completely? I encourage all of you to look at Dr McDougall and the Starch Solution. It is a high carb high calorie diet, that removes the main reason of diabetes type 2, which is fat. Wish you all the best! :)
Just from a very quick look at Dr McDougalli's website I am very leery based on his statement "The human diet is based on starches. The more rice, corn, potatoes, sweet potatoes, and beans you eat, the trimmer and healthier you will be." This goes contrary to everything I have learned. Before calling him a complete Quake and opportunist I will keep an open mind and Listen to his hour long video and read his book.
@TomaGrubb It is true that there is a lot of information out there that goes contrary to what we have been thaught and fed via the media and other sources, even medical text books cater to the idea that you cannot cure diabetes type 2. It is good to investigate and wish you all the best! :)
@Mekelsior When I have anything conclusive one way or the other I will try to remember to get back to you.
I am not a medical professional. I am a type 2 diabetic that had to find answers for my own problems. I believe my site is still the only one that has all of the most recent best information. My site members tell me that I have the best and most effective and helpful site on the internet. They also have given me a 5.0 star rating out of 5 stars.
@TomaGrubb FYI Mekelsior is a vegan activist who refuses to post any valid scientific evidence of his theories.
The science is clear on diabetes treatment and diet - and although there are some vegans who do manage to control their diabetes within ADA recommendations (which aren't very tight, in my opinion) but very few people trying vegan actually manage it, unless they weren't in bad shape to begin with.
For me I had to eat LCHF and limit my carbs to only non-starchy low-gi carbs.
@Mekelsior This is still true, there is no cure for Type 2 or Type 1 diabetes.
I've looked into McDougall's "reversal" as well as that of Dr. Neal Barnards - and they're both vegans trying to promote something that seldom works for Type 2 diabetics.
We're best reducing our intake of starchy carbohydrates, period. I get all my carbs from non-starchy veggies. My numbers were so bad I cannot eat grains or starches and be healthy. I also have normal BG's now.
Doctors urge patients with diabetes to control their calorie intake. Some have the misconception that if I add a few more units of Insulin & eat whatever I want, I can have my sugar under control. Insulin is not a quick fix & should not be used as a quick fix. You don't eat all you want & then balance it with extra units of Insulin. This is a very dangerous way of thinking. First of all education is needed for these type of people & they have to understand the importance of doctors instructions.
I'd like to see an actual study that shows that "high protien" is hard on the kidneys....and not one using people who already have kidney disease...that's a "no duh" result....like saying marathon running is bad for people with broken anlkes.
There is some serious debate by health activists, regarding fish oil versus flax seed oil. I'm still trying to figure out which is better, but there is so much conflicting evidence from both sides, I remain unsure. As a vegetarian I'd prefer flax, but if fish would be significantly better for my health, I'll take that instead. Any opinions in this matter, besides telling viewers to take either one?

hi everyone, we just uploaded this video with some workout techniques. we are trying to find ways to live with type 2 diabetes naturally. if anyone wants to share their experiences, please say hello at diabetesnaturally. com
4.5 is normal. We certainly wouldn't want to go below that as diabetics. I have T2 and would love to get below 5. My last Hb1ac was 7, so way too high according to Govt guidelines in the UK. It's a real struggle because all food stuffs turn to glucose (energy) even the good stuff. You talk about diet here, but exercise plays as bigger part in keeping BS levels normal. Providing our BS/levels are not constantly in double figures then we are doing our best to control it.
You need to redo the saturated fats portion. The new metastudy this year by Dr. Richard Strauss in the Journal of Clinical Nutrition, published in April, looked at the 25 most recent and largest studies on the relationship of saturated fat to heart disease, vascular problems (including artery clogging) and strokes and found NO connection. I have type 2 diabetes and its very hard to follow a diabitec diet,,I have talked to the dietician and she really isnt sure what to tell me either,,,my numbers run 178 to 165 because of my ostomy problem I absorb very little of what I eat,,I have to have more calories to sustain my weight,,but then that affects the diabetes,,either way I go so I eat what ever,,
The key thing we need to teach everyone TomaGrubb is to stay hydrated and slightly alkalined. The Body only needs minerals, essential fatty acids, and enzymes to function properly. Well that and of course plenty of water and to eat healthy. I think your video is great and we want to help as many people as we can. We are having 100% success rate with diabetes. Let me know if you would like to know more about this miracle satchet of ours that you simply add to your bottled water.
Look closer. Maybe put on some glasses. That is 4.5 on the international scale which is about as god as it gets. Yes 45 on the US scale would be hypo. I am in Canada using a Canadian meter 4.5 mml/l is about 81 mg/dl on a US meter.
That number is to low, you should be around a the 5 to 6 % A1C range. Also for your health you should get rid of that belly, maybe you should consider a full workout as well.
Diabetics cannot use carbohydrates for energy. Why do you recommend that they get 50% of their calories from carbohydrates? Also, there is no good evidence that saturated fat "clogs you arteries". It's completely a myth.
I was type 2 for a long time. Then in March, my glucose test meter readings skyrocketed and stayed there. My doctor put me on insulin. I have been steady increasing my dose every week, trying to get it under 150 to no avail. Is it safe to be on metformin, insulin and glipizide at the same time? I am afraid that the glipizide might cause me to bottom out.
My philosophy is to do reasonable things to stay healthy but don't spend your life dwelling on how you can stick around in this world for a couple of more months at the cost of depriving yourself of some good meals. After all, maybe the next world is a billion times better than this world and once you get there you'll wish that you'd gotten there a lot sooner. Think of yourself as being on a surfboard having fun in the sun and the waves, riding 'em towards the shore ... until you reach a point..
Hi there, I'll get to your website later. I'm strugling with poor diabetes control and it has affected my legs (nerve damage). I want to keep optimistic that I can reverse this situation. I have been terrified to have to go into insulin(an added injection) at them moment I only take what they call "back up insulin".I had to start on it when I was going through some Chemoterapy.
Wow. I am 44 and I drink a lot of white wine, usually with pop/soda. Recently after imibbing, I have noticed a time later that I have developed hives on my breast and abdomen. I have also felt "tickles" on my head, face and body. My Dr told me 2 years ago that I am a candidate for diabetes....am I now on my way?
You've done a great job with your diabetes. But have you heard of DeWayne McCulley? He was recently on CNBC, he's an engineer who almost DIED of a diabetic coma with a 1300 BS! He wrote a book "Death to Diabetes" that my wife bought for me -- . I was on insulin, 2 months later, I was off insulin and blood pressure drugs. My doc was shocked.
The 2 of you should get together. He's also on youtube.
In my opinion MOST of the diet recommendations for type 2 diabetics are insane. The majority of diet recommendations are for between 40-55% of the calories from CARBS. To me, that is similar to a doctor recommending to someone with badly arthritic knees, train for a marathon. I think that if a doctor recommends that type of diet, they must buy into government propoganda or want to sell a lot of diabetes medication. On a low carb diet you can have normal blood sugar in weeks if not days.
Eat Fruits, Non-starchy vegetables, nuts & seeds - cannabis 4 medicine. if your child can have a cup cake or a twinkie, then your child can have marijuana. Marijuana is healthier than SUGAR!!!! It helps CURE cancer. now you know why it's ILLEGAL. Truth is an obscure thing, Oppression & lie is the norm. Were all Slaves- our masters, the elite, r at least 50 years ahead of us in knowledge, technology, info., secrets & r using all of it against us!
@MopDMTBARTL: Uh, Uh.....Marijuana kill cancer? Can you enlighten me as to your source for this wonderful piece of information......because I have never heard it before. Do you happen to listen to Dreamland on the radio?

You measure 2.5 grams of fenugreek and boil it in a pot with a cup of water. Take out the when water turns yellow take out the seeds and drink it. I had 150 of blood sugar and it went down by 100. Warning if you are pregnant do not take Fenugreek it will make you go into Labor. You can buy Fenugreek at any Store from the India or on any India website. It Cost $2.50 at the store and at the website 12.00 because of shipping. Ask your doctor first it does help.
Some theory that i have analyse is that the body feels everything that is going on, and for these the body will tell the brain what is it needs to eating and what things it has to much of. But eat what u feel your body tells u not your mind. If u try these let me know how the reults are acording to the program. thx
Thanks for the vid. I start following the advice of Dr. Cousens (also on YT) and stopped eating meat & dairy in order to stay healthy and get my pancreas back in shape.

Actually, Alex Chiu's Immortality Rings cure diabetes. There are lots of testimonial on Alex Chiu's website. People reported diabetes type 1 or 2 cured within a week.
what is agave necter ??????? has someone tried it ? i have heard that it is a natural sweetner like honey with low GI and good for maintaining normal suger levels
Your diagnose of diabetes, based on your A1c is spurious. You pre/post meal blood glucose values do not always correspond with A1C either. A fasting glucose test or an oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) w/values over 110 mg/dl, are quantitative diagnostic criteria for diabetes. Usually, an A1C is not a standa-alone dx criteria for Type 2 diabetes.
And never higher than 147, 2 hours after meals. Never.
Although I did eat a two scoop sundae from baskin robins one day. And my blood sugar peaked around 250. But that was with the works, whipped cream nuts cherries and syrup.
Hey, every now and then you have to splurge and have a treat to keep yourself "inline" the rest of the time. I do this, but not often. It's not a good habit to "treat" every day, you know. I always plan some exercise afterwards, too, to help the numbers get back down.
Excess consumption of Sugars, ANY sugars is a no go in controlling blood glucose-
April 8, 2009 (10.1056/NEJMp0902392)
Ounces of Prevention — The Public Policy Case for Taxes on Sugared Beverages

Sugar-sweetened beverages (soda sweetened with sugar, corn syrup, or other caloric sweeteners and other carbonated and uncarbonated drinks, such as sports and energy drinks) may be the single largest driver of the obesity epidemic.
Intake of sugared beverages is associated with increased body weight, poor nutrition, increasing consumption increases risk for obesity and diabetes; the strongest effects are seen in studies with the best methods and interventional studies show that reduced intake of soft drinks improves health.1 Studies that do not support a relationship between consumption of sugared beverages and health outcomes tend to be conducted by authors supported by the beverage industry.
I was controlled by diet and exercise. Now I have to take metformin 1000. I really hate this disease. I am growing a little sad. I have never felt this way about my diabetes.
The extremely low carb diet recommended by Dr. Bernstein has risks of it's own because it is too high in protein which is hard on the kidneys. I have a friend that is also a type 2 diabetic who was telling me how wonderful the Bernstein diet was for controlling his blood glucose. He is now on dialysis and awaiting a kidney transplant. Carbs arn't necessarily bad if properly selected. Carbs are not just bread, pasta, rice, etc. They are also healthy choices such as good veggies and fruits.
Sure being diabetic is not at all easy on the whole body. Diabetes is one of the most serious illness there is and results in a wide range of organ failures.
I can only go on the information given by Dr. Bernstein.
What is more damaging and live threatening ? High blood glucose or uric acid ? At least uric acid can be controlled completely by medication.
Thanks for the response. Further research work is now underway to "cure" diabetics. Hopefully in future diabetes is no longer a disease.
@TomaGrubb All carbs elicit an insulin response, this may be problematic for diabetics. If he was eating so much protein that he screwed up his kidneys....either he was overeatng a hell of a lot of protein or his kidneys were just about shot in the first place. Maybe he should have tried a high fat, low protein, low carb diet like Atkins.
@TomaGrubb Have you heard the recent news from the UK,that this type of diabetes can be reversed in approx 8 weeks,a very, very low calorie diet.(But would still require strict medical control)
It kick starts the body into producing insulin again.
Hi.. I looked at it.. and my question is why do it like that when you can cure it another way that is more fulfilling, as in.. you can eat as much food as you care for. Just eliminate the cause of the disease, fat. :) Check out the Starch Solution by Dr McDougall.
The researchers, who are publishing their findings in the Diabetologia medical journal, say anyone who wants to try the diet should consult their GP first.
According to an inquiry we made to Health Canada, people alergic to fish and shell fish are allergic to the proteins in them. A good Omega 3 supplement made from fish oil with high concentrations of EPA and DHA is a better way to go in my opinion. Health Canada told us they were unaware of anyone being allergic to the fat in the fish, just the protein which is not present in an Omega 3 capsule that is manufactured to FDA pharmaceutical standards.
If u find that u are unable to take Fish Oil, Flax seed or Primrose Oil is just as good. as they both contain Omega's . Even better, take both together.
You can't control blood glucose levels with a high carbohydrate diet. When you overeat carbohydrates, all you do is overload the body with unwanted glucose. With diabetes, the body is already struggling to keep a stable sugar level. Logic says this is crazy.
That statment is assuming all carbs are the same. They are not. Think about it, fiber is a carb yet fiber helps lower blood glucose. If you understood anything about what I say about carbohydrates you know I say to eat low glycemic carbs. Some carbs are good and some are bad just like some fats are essential to good health and some are very unhealthy.
Sorry, I am talking about digestible carbohydrates.
Fiber including resistant starches passes through the small intestine without change. These are classified as non digestible carbohydrates.
ALL digestible carbohydrates "spike" blood sugar levels some 45 minutes after eating. This is irrespective of the type of carbohydrate. This is what diabetics have problem controlling.
You can't compare fats and use this as an analogy.
The chemistry of starch digestion is the same irrespective of GI. Other non glucose sugars need processing by the liver before they become glycogenic. I explained this in my video.
Low GI high starch foods are in fact detrimental to blood sugar levels. They keep blood sugar levels high over longer periods promoting formation of glycerinated hemoglobin.
@ernietube1 Research tells you otherwise, multiple studies have now been done low fat vegan diets and diabetes type 2. A vegan diet was better at controlling glucose and increasing insulin sensitivity than the ADA's diet. A vegan diet is a high carbohydrate diet. Low fiber, low nutrient, and highly processed diets are the problem with diabetes not carbohydrates themselves.
I do not agree that vegan is the optimal health diet. With a vegan diet many if the essential fatty acids are not included. There is much of a vegan diet I agree with but I find following a vegan diet would exclude some of the best sources of the best nutrients.
I went vegetarian at the beginning of the decade and by 2005 my blood sugar had spiked to 27 mmol.
Since then I've gone back to eating red meat and fish, and I take my Metformin, but not as often as when I was first diagnosed.
It's so nice to hear that diabetes can be reversed. Most dietitians have it wrong and tell you 80% carbs and 20% fat... Those numbers should be reversed.
Yes my eyesight went blurry and it is better now. I still need reading glasses but that is just from age. I had an eye exam in January at the Denver VA and the eye doctor said there is nothing in my eyes to indicate I am diabetic. It is my understanding that they can see any disease from looking at your eyes but he said mine is totally normal for a healthy man my age.
They say diabetes is progressive but all of my symptoms have reversed and i an hearing similar stories from others.
But Type 2 diabetics need to control other blood parameters besides blood glucose! -- that's one of the 7 mistakes that most Type 2 diabetics make, and that's why most diabetics remain diabetic even though there glucose numbers are better.
Also, most Type 2 diabetics have trouble getting rid of the belly fat because of these 7 mistakes.
Yes a dirty dish rag would be a very bad idea but the site has to be washed and dried to get an accurate reading. Kinda hard to get the site dry quickly without a clean towel.

Alright if anybody can answer this.
i was diagnosed with diabetes, not pre diabetes.
Supposedly my A1c test was high.
So anyways, when I check my sugar before and after meals it is always within a good range.
Even when I eat alot.
Is my doctor lying and gettin paid off me or what?
JacdCat 2 years ago
JacdCat,
Your diagnose of diabetes, based on your A1c is spurious.
Jason
JasonsFitKitchen 2 years ago
Thanx for answering.
After my A1c test he did follow it up with a fasting glucose test. That was when he confirmed my diagnosis.
I should have asked for my specific numbers.
I've never had an OGTT though.
I know your not a doctor. But what would you say about my at home glucose testing before and after meals.
Before eating and in the mornings around 88-95 mg/dl
After eating anywhere from 130-147 mg/dl. And that's peak.
JacdCat 2 years ago
Ask for the numbers your doc received.
Also 88-95 in the morning is high, it's not over the limit but the upper range of normal is 99, so your on the border.
how long after eating did you take the second set?
Daakuryu 2 years ago
Two hours after eating i'll test.
Within 2 hrs and 15 minutes it's already dropping, and fast.
JacdCat 2 years ago
What was your A1C and what are your blood sugars 2 hours after you eat and when you wake up in the morning?
rsgdbg 2 years ago
A1C test. 6.2
Between 88 and 95 in the mornings.
And never higher than 147, 2 hours after meals. Never.
Although I did eat a two scoop sundae from baskin robins one day. And my blood sugar peaked around 250. But that was with the works, whipped cream nuts cherries and syrup.
JacdCat 2 years ago
Hey, every now and then you have to splurge and have a treat to keep yourself "inline" the rest of the time. I do this, but not often. It's not a good habit to "treat" every day, you know. I always plan some exercise afterwards, too, to help the numbers get back down.

Excess consumption of Sugars, ANY sugars is a no go in controlling blood glucose-
April 8, 2009 (10.1056/NEJMp0902392)
Ounces of Prevention — The Public Policy Case for Taxes on Sugared Beverages
Kelly D. Brownell, Ph.D., and Thomas R. Frieden, M.D., M.P.H.
Sugar-sweetened beverages (soda sweetened with sugar, corn syrup, or other caloric sweeteners and other carbonated and uncarbonated drinks, such as sports and energy drinks) may be the single largest driver of the obesity epidemic.
PROFLOP1 2 years ago
Intake of sugared beverages is associated with increased body weight, poor nutrition, increasing consumption increases risk for obesity and diabetes; the strongest effects are seen in studies with the best methods and interventional studies show that reduced intake of soft drinks improves health.1 Studies that do not support a relationship between consumption of sugared beverages and health outcomes tend to be conducted by authors supported by the beverage industry.

PROFLOP1 2 years ago
The extremely low carb diet recommended by Dr. Bernstein has risks of it's own because it is too high in protein which is hard on the kidneys. I have a friend that is also a type 2 diabetic who was telling me how wonderful the Bernstein diet was for controlling his blood glucose. He is now on dialysis and awaiting a kidney transplant. Carbs arn't necessarily bad if properly selected. Carbs are not just bread, pasta, rice, etc. They are also healthy choices such as good veggies and fruits.
TomaGrubb 2 years ago
Sure being diabetic is not at all easy on the whole body. Diabetes is one of the most serious illness there is and results in a wide range of organ failures.
I can only go on the information given by Dr. Bernstein.
What is more damaging and live threatening ? High blood glucose or uric acid ? At least uric acid can be controlled completely by medication.
Thanks for the response. Further research work is now underway to "cure" diabetics. Hopefully in future diabetes is no longer a disease.
ernietube1 2 years ago
@TomaGrubb All carbs elicit an insulin response, this may be problematic for diabetics. If he was eating so much protein that he screwed up his kidneys....either he was overeatng a hell of a lot of protein or his kidneys were just about shot in the first place. Maybe he should have tried a high fat, low protein, low carb diet like Atkins.
tickyul 1 year ago
@TomaGrubb Have you heard the recent news from the UK,that this type of diabetes can be reversed in approx 8 weeks,a very, very low calorie diet.(But would still require strict medical control)
It kick starts the body into producing insulin again.
banoffee2001 7 months ago
Hi.. I looked at it.. and my question is why do it like that when you can cure it another way that is more fulfilling, as in.. you can eat as much food as you care for. Just eliminate the cause of the disease, fat. :) Check out the Starch Solution by Dr McDougall.

what if u can't eat fish what then what??? I am allergic
soulseeker95 3 years ago
According to an inquiry we made to Health Canada, people alergic to fish and shell fish are allergic to the proteins in them. A good Omega 3 supplement made from fish oil with high concentrations of EPA and DHA is a better way to go in my opinion. Health Canada told us they were unaware of anyone being allergic to the fat in the fish, just the protein which is not present in an Omega 3 capsule that is manufactured to FDA pharmaceutical standards.
TomaGrubb 3 years ago
If u find that u are unable to take Fish Oil, Flax seed or Primrose Oil is just as good. as they both contain Omega's . Even better, take both together.

You can't control blood glucose levels with a high carbohydrate diet. When you overeat carbohydrates, all you do is overload the body with unwanted glucose. With diabetes, the body is already struggling to keep a stable sugar level. Logic says this is crazy.
ernietube1 3 years ago 7
That statment is assuming all carbs are the same. They are not. Think about it, fiber is a carb yet fiber helps lower blood glucose. If you understood anything about what I say about carbohydrates you know I say to eat low glycemic carbs. Some carbs are good and some are bad just like some fats are essential to good health and some are very unhealthy.
TomaGrubb 3 years ago
Sorry, I am talking about digestible carbohydrates.
Fiber including resistant starches passes through the small intestine without change. These are classified as non digestible carbohydrates.
ALL digestible carbohydrates "spike" blood sugar levels some 45 minutes after eating. This is irrespective of the type of carbohydrate. This is what diabetics have problem controlling.
You can't compare fats and use this as an analogy.
ernietube1 3 years ago
The chemistry of starch digestion is the same irrespective of GI. Other non glucose sugars need processing by the liver before they become glycogenic. I explained this in my video.
Low GI high starch foods are in fact detrimental to blood sugar levels. They keep blood sugar levels high over longer periods promoting formation of glycerinated hemoglobin.
Hope this ex[plains my concerns about GI.
ernietube1 3 years ago
@ernietube1 Research tells you otherwise, multiple studies have now been done low fat vegan diets and diabetes type 2. A vegan diet was better at controlling glucose and increasing insulin sensitivity than the ADA's diet. A vegan diet is a high carbohydrate diet. Low fiber, low nutrient, and highly processed diets are the problem with diabetes not carbohydrates themselves.
Jleigh225 1 year ago
Want to research a "better method" Tomagrubb? Try going vegan and then talk to me.
UrDoinItWrong 3 years ago
I do not agree that vegan is the optimal health diet. With a vegan diet many if the essential fatty acids are not included. There is much of a vegan diet I agree with but I find following a vegan diet would exclude some of the best sources of the best nutrients.
TomaGrubb 3 years ago
I went vegetarian at the beginning of the decade and by 2005 my blood sugar had spiked to 27 mmol.
Since then I've gone back to eating red meat and fish, and I take my Metformin, but not as often as when I was first diagnosed.
It's so nice to hear that diabetes can be reversed. Most dietitians have it wrong and tell you 80% carbs and 20% fat... Those numbers should be reversed.

I'll discuss this in my next video.
