  • I will make up a video later and send it to you so you can look this kite over. I think you will purchase one after having a look at it. They stock almost all prism kites, MEFM kites and ground zero kites. He kept saying wow this is a really good kite!

  • I got it sorted! There are two color beads Blue and Red. There is a slip knot behind the red bead beads when you buy it (this is like most good kites). Then you can loosen the slip knot and change it to behind the blue beads. This makes it trick and turn alot easier.

Thanks to the guy at the kitepower shop I found this out.

  • Hi! Thank you for this great video and information! We would like to create a similar set-up but to be used from a sailboat. We need the kite to be able to handle high winds, capture smooth video footage (using go-pro) and be able to control camera/kite angle. Any kite recommendations? Would one with lots of vents work best. How many lines, two?

    Thanks for your help!

  • @CruisingPreparation sorry, cant help too much. you want a more traditional KAP set-up which i dont know much about but if youre flying off a boat a dual-line kite wont work as the line has to be let out fully and then the kite launched. you want some big single-line delta i think, something you can play out from the boat. but i have no experience w them. theres plenty of KAP info online though. good luck!

  • Hey I was wondering if you would be interested in doing a video on kite mods and bridle settings? I cant find any videos on it. The silver fox kite I got has a bridle turbo setting but from the picture still i have no idea.

    Regards Nick

  • @imetbenharper dont really know anything about bridle settings. actually not quite sure what youre asking. if youre in australia Briskites looks like a good kite shop. i'd think they could help out. looks like you can even live chat w them online.

  • Great thanks. I don't think my skill level allows me to do it yet. I am thinking of making a little clip that holds the nose up a little off the ground. That way the wind will pick it up.

Mind you, I only have flown it once. The wind was all over the place. Changing directions and stopping altogether. I might take it to the beach.

    Thanks

I will let you know how I go.

    Regards Nick

  • what brand of kite is that?? maybe you wrote it already but im lazyy sorry ! cool video ... hi from mexico!

  • @rogerbaidon hiya back, mexico. it's a Prism E3 (search "prismkites"). i say it and caption it in the video as well as in the description. and it's much easier to pay attn to the video or read the description than to write a comment so no, youre not lazy. youre something else ;)

  • Hey I got my kite! It looks like it's great quality for the price. 158 Aud off eBay. I can't wait to fly it! It's raining heaps here though. It has a turbo bridle too! I got 100lb spectra lines.

  • Ok cool. Well being a UL kite I will look for some 90lb lines. Made by shanti or lazier pro.

Thanks heaps by the way! It pays to ask someone who is into something what they know. You have been very helpful.

    I am grateful.

  • @imetbenharper happy to help. i think you chose a nice kite. should be able to have a lot of fun w it.

  • @volitariac Hey Got my kite its nice. Just wondering if there is a trick to pop the kite off the ground once the nose of the kite falls towards you?

  • @imetbenharper pop both lines back hard and quick as you can then give a bit of slack immediately. the pull shoves the kite against the ground, the slack lets it rebound up a tiny bit. when/if it comes up pull hard and deep (may have to run back as you do) to bring it up the rest of the way. this is called a Dead Launch, a lot of kites can't do it. even ones that do can break a spreader as it puts a lot of stress on the frame. safer to just do the walk of shame and dont get into that position:)

  • A+ looks like your in business..;) I too would love to pay you for a ready made one (only I'd like to be able to keep the go pro housing on) 4safety issues..I've done my share of kite/camera mounts but none as nice as yours, hope to hear from you n again....GOOD JOB!

  • @510AdrenalineJunkie great. i have one set to go for a 7mm spine. but if you really want to use the housing i'll have to redo some of the parts. i would advise against it though. i think the extra width makes it press into the sail too much, and it weighs a ton--2.4 oz! the heavier the rig the more violent that bucking or "pitchy wobble" i talk about in the video (not to mention the more wind you need to fly). ive never had an issue...(more in your "Personal Messages" folder of your inbox)

  • What strings would you put on a silver fox kite for tricks. Found some 50lb 80ft long. Any good? Any advise.

    Regards nick

  • @imetbenharper i would use 150lb 75'-100' Shanti or LaserPro Gold lines. i would only use 50lb lines on a SUL (super ultra-light) or WW (without wind) kite. even with my ULs i use 90lb lines.

  • Ok cool. I did some reading on the nirvana and it said something about yo yo stoppers which let you fly the kite tangled up. Are they nessisary for tricks? Ps you can sell me your not very well made nirvana when you get sick of it. :)

  • @imetbenharper yo-yo stoppers (or whiskers) allow you to wrap the kite up (basically a backflip). as the kite comes back around the lines get caught on the whiskers (if it's lined up correctly) rather than sliding down and off the leading edges. theyre necessary only for wrap-based tricks: yo-fades, wap-do-waps, crazy-copters, etc. i think most newer higher-end kites use roll-bars now. modified whiskers that catch the lines more effectively.

you can pry the Nirvana from my cold dead hands. :)

  • What's a good kite for stunts that's not to expensive and flys in low wind?

    Nick

  • @imetbenharper cant help much. only familiar w the expensive kind. the Flying Wings Acrobatx comes in a UL for $115 at awindofchange. seems to be pretty well reviewed but ive never flown one. dont know of anything under $100 that's trickable. my Jest of Eve Talon UL and Deep Space UL are both great and beautifully made but they run about $330. then there's the R-Sky Nirvana SUL which is a dream to fly but not as well made and over-priced at $450. maybe check e-bay and craigslist. good luck.

  • OK cool. Happy New Year.

  • Thanks for the thoughtful and well presented video on your kite and camera holder. Yes, I would be interested in buying one ready made if you intend to do that. All the best.

  • @mahargyrogerg great! i just need the outside diameter of your spine tube in millimeters. i'll have to order some parts so it might be a couple wks or so. i'll be in touch.

    Happy New Year!

  • or How to make to brocking my gopro ...

  • @beastyfanox really ?

  • @beastyfanox ??

  • This is really good. The one thing i don't get is exactly what holds the GoPro Hero it. is it just the rubber bands and sticky-back velcro?

and maybe i missed it, but did you say this goes on the back of the kite, so it's a rear camera.
