Sweet truck man!!!! This thing reminds me of my dad's old 1998 dodge Dakota it was a stick as well and it also had no tachometer, but I have one question, What does that yellow light that comes up at 0:09 mean??? I used to see that in my Dad's truck as well
I love this sound. Too bad my wife won't let me take a hacksaw to her Durango's exhaust. By the way kids, you really only need a clutch to take off from under like 10mph. Otherwise, rev match it. Hey, TheTerminator310's dad shown here can do it without a tachometer, like a boss, so what's YOUR excuse?!!
@KidCrazy86 The engine has to be turning the same speed as the transmission. That's why you have to use the technique called "rev-matching". When the transmission is turning the same speed as the engine the gears will click into each other, but if one is spinning faster than the other it will grind. Pretty simple.
i had a straight pipe that dumped rite under the cab like that on my '95 318, it was just to loud. I would of kept it but all the cops in my town and all surrounding towns are out to get me cuz of shit thats happened between me and them these past few years lol. They stop me just for the fuck of it when they see me.
To anyone wondering what to do with your O2 sensors! On dodge trucks they are not sensitive enough to throw a code for too much oxygen...So take them and zip tie em to ur frame and she'll be reading more oxygen than ever.
i got a 97 with straight pipe can here it coming from a mile away but mine u gotta use the clutch cuz its wore out it has 290 thousand on it all original
@9DodgeFan lol yeah, man. I agree. I thought it was retarded not having a tach in this truck. When my Dad got this truck I looked and was like: "Where in the world is the tach???", haha, I have no idea why they didn't put one in. I wish it had one.
@spyingkibbles No sir. Truck is completely stock except for a little bit of an oversized tire. Stock tire size was 225/60/R16 and right now it has 265/70/R16s.
@TheTerminator310 I have a 96 ram with the 318 and a 4-speed auto, and I haven't ever had any problems with mine. I hear most of the autos are pretty shitty though
@itsoundzgood Well, yeah. The majority of them are. Some of them I have heard got pretty good service, but not many. I got a friend that had a '03 Dodge Ram HEMI that he uses on occasions to haul trailers and mostly just drives it to work. Has a 200,000 and some odd miles on it and the trans has been replaced 2 or 3 times.
@dangerdakota If it hurts the syncros so badly, then why the hell has he been shifting trucks like this for so long and never had any problems out of any maual transmission, ever?
@TheTerminator310 hell yea lol id rather keep it old school sticks then these new trucks they have....there nice and all but i prefer old autos....the only prob is the gas and thts minor.....so u did u jus cut the muffler off or did u get a y pipe or something small like tht coming out the back?
@asoid101 It just ended up underneath the truck. It used to have a performance exhaust system on it, but the pipes and muffler rusted out, so my Brother (previous owner) cut that off and then the catalytic converter stopped up and he had it gutted and put back on. In this video, it ended right behind the cab up underneath and when my Dad got it, he soon realized that it was too loud. So he found a stock exhaust system laying out in a junkyard and put that on it.
@biglinc1 Haha, thanks. It sounded good, but was too loud inside. Gave me and my Dad both a headache when driving it. The exhaust just ended underneath the truck right behind the cab, so we just put stock pipes and muffler back on it. It's standable now, haha.
@SoCoMx309 Look, my Dad comes from a long line of truck drivers from over 50 years back. I think we know what tears the trans up and what doesn't. My Dad has been shifting big rigs like this for 35 years and nothing has happened. Trying to shift down without the clutch would hurt it, but it won't shifting up as long as you know what you're doing.

@Branonjohn Are you talking about power-wise, or what?

I always thought it was strange when they make stick shift vehicles without a tach. At least your truck makes it pretty easy to play it by ear!
