well here's a classic example of a flyer being SERIOUSLY hurt and the refs not stopping play, but when tucker or crosby or kovelev dives and fakes being hurt the refs will blow play dead right away. that was a bullshit goal. He litterally broke one of his balls...the puck broke his cup and shattered his testicle, but earlier on in that game a caps defensemen PUSHED briere very lightly into huet and huet falls down and right away the blew it dead

Learn the rules. The Flyers needed outright control of the puck before the play would be whistled dead, just like on a delayed penalty. Otherwise whats stopping guys from 'twisting ankles' or w/e while an opponent has a breakaway? Only reason they blew the whistle for Huet was for goalie interference.

listen dude...i completely agree with u...i am just asking for some consistancy with the refs. i have seen specific instances where players (skaters not goalies) go down and their team doesn't have the puck and its blown dead cuz it is a "serious enough" injury. BUT, how is a player LITTERALLY breaking on of his balls not a serious enough injury?????????

they can't stop the game until a member of the flyers touched the puck. thankfully for the swelling of thor's groin and unfortunately for us flyer's fans, they could stop the game after the caps tied the game 4-4. i dub this play "the unofficial 5 on 3" as the flyers were killing a penalty and then lost thor.

the refs can't blow the play dead until the puck leaves that zone. Otherwise it'd be too easy for a defensive team player to go down "injured" to get a whistle.

I feel sorry for the guy... rolling around in pain whilst the caps score and celebrate... but I guess rules are rules. He was released from hospital and was only diagnosed with swelling and may be cleared to play on Sunday. Also Mike Green, the guy who took the shot, left a message for Thoresen once he got out of hospital... what a legend! Thats sportsmanship!

its not a rule that a guy lays on the ice clealy in pain and the reffs dont call the play dead then them scoring and the celebration was not good sportsmanship will a a player is on the ice in pain the capitals should beashemed of them selfs GO FLYERS!!!!!!!

Idiot.  The rule is that unless there is a life threatening injury, you need to gain possession of the puck before the whistle blows. Otherwise you can keep rolling around.

how is that the caps fault they did not blow it dead. if the refs called a play dead every time someone went down. there would be no breakways or 2 on 1s cause guys would fake injury to stop the play

u would be po if a caps guy went down and they blow the play dead, espically if the flyers scored.

i just glad the guy is okay. they were saying that they might have had to remove one of his balls. that would be terrible, and painful

not the caps fault, just unfortunate that the play happened during a power play for flyer's fans. but nothing wrong with the play, all within the rules. it's tough to see someone go down, but yes if the flyers came on top on one of these plays, i would definitely argue the same point...fair play, just unfortunate for the team who was scored on and the play who was down. thor is going to be ok though.
