ne time this lady when i was like 16 i walked in a mac store and me and my bf where there we where going to get well he was going to get me so stuff 4 my b-day and the lady said maby you to should come back with your parents i was like we are here with us just us and she said well maby come with so money this is to much we had like 200 on my credit card and ( his ) so she liek ri[ed the stuff out of my hand i was like umm we where goign to bye that she not not any more i was like W.T.F !?!!?!?
I was treated the EXACT same way... I was at the mall of america and planned to spend about 100 dollars there. i waited for about 15 minutes and no one asked me if i need anything. so then i asked for help and she said hold on..she wasnt doing anything. i waited for about 10 min. and i was soo fed up then i left. when i got home i went to a different mall and was helped and the lady that helped me was sooo nice.
I think the next time I'm experiencing a rude moment at MAC I'm going to speak up and get the manager. One thing I can't stand is others thinking they're too good, too beautiful, too rich for other people, no no no!
My mac employees are really lovely however I have noticed that some in other malls are a lot nicer than others so I suppose it really varies on the store. I went to a few mac stores in Kuala Lumpur however when I was on holiday and absolutely every employee was horrible and snobby!
I was looking for the viva glam lipstick and I waited for a legit flipping 10 minutes to get helped.I walked around the entire counter at least 30 times!
Sadly, MAC is no longer the great company it was. Once it was acquired by Estee Lauder, it's been downhill ever since. Case in point, I met my best friend there. She was a MUA there and was wonderful and she left shortly after the company was bought out and it's a rarity to come across a nice and friendly associate there. I've found that yes, you DO get treated differently based on whether or not you're wearing makeup. Needless, to say, it's a rarity for me to shop there.
Yes I had bad experience with Mac employee one time I waited almost 15 minutes for some one to notice me until they did they asked me^ if I need it anything I've sayd yes I need it the studio fix and they had me^ there waiting for eeeeever like another 20 minutes and for them to tell that they didn't have my tone I was Soooo mad and yes they look at you weird
Well that's what happens when you get a whole bunch of young, vain, competitive women in a room together whose jobs are to play with makeup and look in mirrors all day. Not badmouthing all MAC associates, I've had my share of great associates and ones that just brush you off (no pun intended lol). I guess it depends which store, where u are because I've been to the one at my local mall and they're nice, but I went to Chicago and they were rude, so idk.
Honestly, I know it sucks to be treated poorly, and I'm not saying you're wrong. But it's not MAC. There are rude employees at nearly every business. Especially large corporations that have many branches/employees. Don't blame the business, blame the rude employee. Bring it up to management though, or at least do something about it. Because most of the time management do NOT want to hire people who get complaints, and if enough people complain, they will be fired.
@OrangeSparkler Oh I understand its everywhere. Its just that Ive experienced the most with MAC and from different employees. When I go to a different store, I may get one rude employee, but the next time get 5 nice ones. With MAC its different employees, same attitude.
@affordabletutorial I think you can blame MAC because there are so many cases of so many MAC employees at different stores. I haven't met groups of rude employees at other companies, only MAC. I'm glad you made a video on this!
Where I live, there's no MAC at all; I only went to a Mac counter in Australia and it was kinda ok you know, some were really helpful and some just remained posh-looking. As I were not wearing any make up (I never wear make up in the day actually), some of them did treat me like a total clueless piece of meat... Thank God : I was in holidays, I had money and I did not give ONE fuck about them ^^ Nevertheless, at Kit Cosmetics' for instance, girls are SO FUN
I feel like they just hound me every time I go in there looking at me. I asked one of the employees to color match me to an MSF and she gave me a shade that was obviously too dark and I asked her if she should test it on me at least and she said that she knows what shes doing if i didnt like the shade then i can go look at the other ones. I thought that was so rude because she is the "professional" and shes here for me basically. ugh im sick of them thinking they are better than other people.
This is so digusting! I'm looking through all these videos on YouTube about rude MAC employees and I'm astonished! I just had my second interview with MAC and I cannot wait to get into this company, and it pains me to think that these women who already work there don't even REALISE how many women would kill to have their jobs and their actling like fuckin' superior to every customer. It makes me sick! I'd had a bad experience only one time with a rude ass emplyee there...
@affordabletutorial They probably have to make a store quota...or be selling equal amounts of all products...so like if you're going in for some eyeshadow and they try and push eyeliner or blush or bronzer. As a company they need to sell all kinds of makeup. A lot of ppl especially newcomers will just want to get one eyeshadow so they can say they have MAC products. Idk I'm just guessing...
they're nice to me when my MOTHER is with me, but when i go alone they think im going to steal or somthing because im a teenage girl.. they take me more seirously with my mom...mac counters are bullshit
@WickedOneVA yes because if you read the other comments I'm the only one who has had a bad experience. No reason to lie. WTH is your problem? Do you work for MAC or something?

Okay does it really make sense to boycott Mac simply based on a "rude" employee? Think about it, do you think Mac as a company knows about this certain employee or even encourages them to be rude? Saying your done with Mac just because of certain employees poor performance is childish and foolish to say the least. They have the finest products so really by you boycotting them you are only hurting yourself. Don't always assume someone is out to get you or judging you, that's just insecurity.

They probably think if you dont wear makeup then you probably dont have the money to afford it or think your just not gonna buy anything and only wanted to look. eh i really dont know. My mac counter has really nice people actually, i've been there a couple of times but i mostly order online. I have NEVER had any trouble from mac when it comes to ordering online, they dont mess up my orders my orders arrive quick, plus it saves me gas to t he mall.
I thought I was the only one, I always wanted to try their products and the 4 times I've gone to their counter I either don't end up buying anything or returning whatever I have bought just thinking about the treatment they have given me, they're very rude and impatient. The last time I went it was the worst, I was so upset. I wish I can tell you my story here, but is a bit long. I'll just stick to my Sephora.
i know wat u mean i have had this happen to me alot wene i go and i wear alot of makeup i actually want to be a makeup artist and when i see this behaviour its sad because they intimidate ppl
Sephora is generally nice, I agree! I go in w/o makeup as a courtacy cuz they often roll there eyes when they have to take a little of my makeup off. Seriously too, I rarely like how there makeup is done. Oh yeah, everytime I get color matched I get a totally different opinion from the girls. I knew a really sweet girl & when she started working for mac, she became like the typical mac rude girl. My whole life I've be in sales & you said it, never be rude & never talk in front of other customes.
I've had so many horrible experiences & horrible color matches. My first experience was exactly like yours, I left because no one helped me, my boyfriend was in shock how rude they were. I'm in hawaii and they don't really pay attention unless you are japanese (I live in a tourist area where japanese touriest come just to shop). I've been googling rude mac stuff too, unbelievable, the worst business out there for customer service percentage wise. There are nice workers every one in ten times :(
Why are mac employees so rude? i have stood at mac for so long completely ignored adn then i had to walk away...many times. there is also this rude lady that works at a mac store near me. She is ridiculous. I emailed customer service about it today because it happened again today.
im gonna stick with Sephora too! they are so nice, i couldnt decide on a red lipstick, and this guy and lady were so helpful.
i went into MAC, no one greeted me or offer to help, i was only in there for 5 mins trying on these two lipsticks, and one of the SA was like "sigh you are still going at it?" wha?!.. then when they were cashing me out, they didnt even say thanks and just walked away :(
I feel you girl on this one.. one of the girls just looked at me n said to the other chick that was with her 'oh can you help her she looks clueless about this brand ' but she said it in spanish. N I was like wtf she didn't know that I'm latina and my boyfriend just went of on her n cuzzed her out telling her not 2 b rude to me n that shes just workin in retail not in a hospital..the funny part was that she started crying n I still got helped n she apologized cuz my guy n uncle told her to...lol
This really upsets me because i LOVE mac, and i eventuallyy want to work there. It makes me sad that there are numerous stories of rude mac sa. I totally agree with you customer service is going down the drain, it doesnt matter what kind of day you are having it is all about the customer, you only have one chance to make a first impression on someone ya know. I personally have dealt with really nice mac sa and some really bad ones, i dont remeber if i was wearing makeup never thought of that lol
Hi, well im from England and I can tell you that across the atlantic MAC sales assistants are still RUDE! Different accents same attitude, I have always found them too into themselves and doing their own make up to even ask me if I needed any help. Lucky for me, I always know what I want to buy before I go in there, but god help you if you come in with no make up on and wait at the sides for some help. I just don't understand how a company like MAC have no customer service training.
I went there with my mom and it was a bit busy so when they didn't really acknowledge us I figured it's busy so whatever. After about 20 minutes of being there and not being helped we were starting to get ticked off. I had to practically grab them to help me because I was interested in buying some lipsticks. Very disappointing, I usually order online from them now.
i noticed the same thing. i go to the mac counter about once every few months or so, and i noticed that when i go with my hair and makeup done i always get helped right away. but then there are some days i jus wanna wear a ponytail and glasses, jeans and sneakers i notice that they pretend that they don't see me. no one asks me for help and when i ask someone for something they make it seem like i'm being a pain in their ass. i've been to many different mac stores and its all the same thing
Honestly, by buying your stuff at that time you have helped MAC perpetuate rudeness to paying customers. I don't get it - your actions don't line up w/ your heart. Why? All because you can't wait a day or two to get your lipsticks. Awe, so sad - so sad. Next time, why not try to wait a day, a week or even a month with out a Mac lipstick because every finance major knows that today's dollars are worth more to companies than money spent a week or month later. This is how you hurt company's Dollars
@syphe2015 Well if you watched my video AFTER this one, then you would know I took the lipsticks back! Honestly would it matter if I waited a day, a month, or 6 months? MAC's customer service is horrible. And the lady that helped me wasnt the one that was rude to the other girl, so me buying it at the time didn't help or hurt the rude girls sales.
My first MAC expierience was bad. I tried again, and the lady who helped me was so nice. I think my troubles the first time is because I was a younger customer compared to the other people there.
i actually went to apply to a MAC store in a Macys. I was told by one of the girls working in that store that I should apply there and that she thought I would do well and would most definitely get the job. I had spent thousands in that store. Long story short I filled out an application and went into Macys, handed in the application to the manager of that specific MAC he looked me up and down numerous times before even taking my papers and said " Im not taking that" and walked away from me.
@spinspinsugah Yes actually it went well. They took it back and didn't even ask any question. I don't know if it was because I went to Nordstrom instead of an actual mac store. Glad its over.
I don't go to MAC counters anymore because when I ever go near them they give me the dirtiest looks! There's ladies at Chanel counters that are so nice, and are always willing to help me even though I'm in high school.
I spent $208 at a mac counter for me and my mom once and the lady was being rude and seemed really mad because i didnt buy everything she tested on my mom. The only reason i didnt buy everything was becuz their foundations didnt perfectly fit my mom plus none of the reds came out true to color on my mom. It seriously scared me away from any makeup counter in general. =[ I'm trying to break away from MAC's hype.
See, this is why I don't own any MAC!!! I hear stuff like this and it just grosses me out! I spend entirely too much money (on occasion) at other high end lines, that are actually gracious and helpful- I despise that kind of attitude!
OH and P.S.- I used to work department store cosmetics in the 1990's- you are right, there is NO excuse for that behaviour. MAC is a jumped-up Estee Lauder line, believe you me, they have no magical formulas or colors- if you stand a woman with Cover Girl next to a girl with a MAC face, if color and application are the same, you would NEVER guess who had on what.
@mommafletch Thank you! Like I said they act like they are the end all to makeup. I get better customer service in a damn Walgreens, then MAC. Im going to stick to Sephora where the customer service is always great.
I bought a lipstick from mac and tried it like 3x trying to make it work for me, I brought it back to the mac macy's and the SA was sooo rude!He told me you can't bring back used stuff and I know macy's will let you return anything as long as you have a receipt within the time frame. Another SA intervened because this guy was being so rude for nothing. I buy back online now. Whenever I go to the stores they always make a mistake (always check your stuff in front of them before you leave)
Those weren't the only times we've had bad experiences there. So I am for sure done. No one deserves to be treated the way they treat people especially when we are spending a reasonable amount of money at this counter. You are right, they do work at a counter. They should have more respect for people. So I bought one blush from Ebay just to avoid going to the counter but just out of principal I am done with them in all aspects. I'm a Smashbox lover anyway. : )
@chowdigg THANK YOU! I agree, I am done with them and their horrible customer service. if I am going to spend money whether it be $1 or $100 I should get the same respect and great customer service
I have had a couple of bad experiences at the Mac counter and I too am done, done, done with Mac. Who do these women think they are? I went there once and I stood there for 10 minutes without being helped then a lady who wasn't doing anything had to be told to come help me. Then one of the girls dropped a disposable mascara wand on the ground and my sister picked it up for her. She ignored my sis. Finally I got her attention and when asked what we should do with it, she said "Put it back"
Im 14 and i went to MAC once with a full face of makeup but it tookst least like 10 minutes before i got helped (they were kinda busy though) when i got helped the lady was like really really nice and even commented on my nails. My friend however wasn't wearing any makeup at all and wasnt helped either...

@nycapples1 Its really sad how they act towards their customers SMH. Oh well I will only order online if i order anything else.

This is how you hurt company's Dollars
syphe2015 1 year ago

@Berdie15 Ooh, plz tell if it was a nice return or not xD
spinspinsugah 1 year ago

@desiv13 WTH????? See when I continue to hear stories like this, it really makes me glad about my decision to stop shopping there. They're evil! lol

MAC is a jumped-up Estee Lauder line, believe you me, they have no magical formulas or colors- if you stand a woman with Cover Girl next to a girl with a MAC face, if color and application are the same, you would NEVER guess who had on what.
mommafletch 1 year ago
@mommafletch Thank you! Like I said they act like they are the end all to makeup. I get better customer service in a damn Walgreens, then MAC. Im going to stick to Sephora where the customer service is always great.

I bought a lipstick from mac and tried it like 3x trying to make it work for me, I brought it back to the mac macy's and the SA was sooo rude!He told me you can't bring back used stuff and I know macy's will let you return anything as long as you have a receipt within the time frame. Another SA intervened because this guy was being so rude for nothing. I buy back online now. Whenever I go to the stores they always make a mistake (always check your stuff in front of them before you leave)
shimmercoconut 1 year ago
@shimmercoconut Oh I've heard they are NOTORIOUS for being rude if you return something! It's a shame

chowdigg 1 year ago
