  • A Meg Allan Cole cape! (scarf! thing!)

  • seems like that would be kind of cool to wear around your neck or something... just a thought :)

  • ohh This is before Meg had her show on threadbanger

  • that was fracking awesome!

  • lol BSG FTW!!

  • n thats wat we call...takin it back to k-4...

  • GUESS WHAT I WISHED FOR CURLY HAIR!!!and i got a loopy thingy...I WANTED A BEST FRIEND THAT WAS NOT A GOTH OR A BOY OR WAS A UNICORN OR A TRIANGLE OR A...NOTHER TRIANGLE

  • I <3 Meg. (and Rob and Corinne too, of course!)

  • They have done some cute tie recycling things on Decorating Cents on HGTV. Look there at Barb Sculati's things!

  • Holy crap. I need a pocket Mr. T! :O

  • I wonder if you can make a vest out of ties if you can i think you should show that!

  • You could take a whole bunch of ties and split the seams along the backs and then sew the edges thick end to short end until you have a panel large enough to cut out the front sections of a vest. You'd have to line it, maybe with just some poly-pop. Making the back out of ties might be a bit time consuming, so just cut the back pattern out of some heavier fabric like cotton drill.

  • Cool Thanks That really did help.

  • Cool Thanks That really did help.

  • No problem!

  • If you want to recycle some old ties, you should send them MY way. I love ties.

  • frackin'? ... okay! Frackin'!

  • you could make a skirt out of ties instead of making useless chain link decor.

  • Yeah, my friend made a skirt out of ties, it looks pretty awesome

  • i see a camara man in the window:D

  • thats so awesome! Better than the paper ones ^__^-

  • How rad. RECYCLING IS ALWAYS AWESOME.

  • not the best way to re-use ties. i'd make them into different accesories. maybe a cell phone cozy or something.

  • maybe good for a toddler's room....

  • what a waste of ties! just use paper instead

  • ¬__¬

  • Man! When I have tried to make things out of ties in the past (belts, headbands, blindfolds, bracelets etc) I find that even thrift store ties can add up in price especially for projects like this one that involve such quantity.

  • what a crappy decoration, bad idea.

  • Omg your going to ny you have to tell me all the diy shops you find!!...... i could never find any D:

  • Could you guys please go to Canada, Toronto and find some cool DIY shops there and please tell me what kind of spray paint to buy and where. I also LOVE chucks (converse) so if you could do as many tutorial on those it would be Highly appreciated BY moi!!!!Love you guys <3

  • It kind of seems like too much of a waste of ties, like tons of other people have already stated.

Why make something that'll only be used for a little while, when you can make something you can use everyday? >___>

  • interesting but not particularly that great. just not my style.

  • -_- Not a practical project. I rather buy multicolour tinsels and they are uber cheaper.

  • you wasted perfectly good ties...stupid puns...and the internet to spread a stupid project like that? wow!

  • i've seen Quilt's made from old ties for sentimental purposes. (like takeing your late great grandfather's sunday tie's and makeing them into a blanket) this on the other hand was er... not practical.

  • you guys moving into the next new networks office? with indy mogul?

  • what a bleeding well waste of time. I thought she was making wrist bands.... that would look cool. Idea?

  • i think so!

  • yep i tried to say that (next page) yesterday. Couldn't really say it right though.. the way my posting was working was messed up.

but yeah I thought she was making that 'till i remembered it was decor. wristbands would be so cute with maybe buttons or appliques

  • I gave that Mr. T thing as a gift this year but before I gave it I would answer the phone with it when my sister would ask for a ride home from work. =)

  • a waste of ties... that kinda design looks better with paper... that just looked weird.....

  • Ties are too expensive to be wasted like that, but since girls don't wear them i guess they wouldn't realize that how much of a waste that actually was.

I mean here you have a perfected peice of usefull clothing and then you cut them up into a lousy decoration. Thats sad... santa would not aprove.

  • Actually, they sell for 50 cents to a dollar in most thrift stores. These arent nice ties she's using.

  • Don't worry, CaterpillarHero, I'm workin on a make-your-own tie tute. Once I figure out one aspect of the pattern, I'll be on a roll.

  • <3 I'm stalking you. XD

  • Aaaa! Hi there. Trying to remember who you are. Eee...

  • stupid

  • Oh how cute! That's adorable! I love the neck tie idea.

  • I like the idea of reusing, but the point needs to be to make something useful not a piece of crap that will end up in the trash tomorrow. This project sucks.

  • w00t! working! anyway...

    **I thought of these ideas:

1)Maybe those would look good if longer and draped by the ceiling in rich colors. Purples go w/ my room!

2)also about halfway through I thought of this super rad idea...

ookay link not working so.. take the tie before you so it closed to the chain(after cut and folded in.) Make it a bracelet cuff either fully sewn or add a button (visible) I'll see if I can post the pic ^_^

  • umm love you guys but maybe it wasn't best idea seeing as how I made those from paper in

preschool.Or maybe it just wasn't the best example? [btw, 2:37 is priceless ^_^]

**But I thought of psychedelic ideas following(?) this post.

umm I apologize for any repeat posting following or before this post.. idk if my posting-ness is working I might break it up into two posts.....

  • booo.

    that was useless.

  • ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

    my goodness

    why waste those ties :(

  • I think you'd need to have a ton of ties, because it'd have to be a much longer chain in order to have it not look so crappy.

  • I thought it would look really nice, but it didn't. It looked sort of wonky. I'd rather use paper.

I like the idea of using ties to make something to hang like that but not in the loops.

  • The problem with the project is that it *looks* like anyone can do it.

  • i love your show, but that was really stupid

  • that was lame..

  • This is probably my least favourite diy video of yours, but I can appreciate it.

  • lowered expectations.......

  • that was straight horrible!! apperently just anybody can send in a half ass video and get featured.

coming soon...my post-it note necklace! its gonna be a winner

  • I'm disappointed this is kind of a waste of ties, especially because half of the ties are not used and you could just as easily use some other fabric, I normally like the show but this was disappointing.

  • once i understood what she was making i just thought it was a really horrible waste of material. i get it, but don't get it.

  • I don't know.. right now is the best time to set up a box of xmas stuff for next year. Use left over xmas theme things to recreate. Then you open the box next year. Bam you're ready!

  • eh. its good. not the best.

    =/

  • voila!! Awsome! 5 stars! Turn ugly crap into uglier crap! /sarcsm

  • sorry guys, i love your show, but that was hideous.

  • Pretty much the same idea that you use when you do a paper chain, only more permanent.

  • ummmm ok - that was really ugly - dyi should be about making amazing things, not changing crap to uglier crap

  • Um, maybe it's just me but a fancy version of making decorations that I used to make in kindergarten doesn't seem like a very good idea. They aren't very nice to look at and seems like a waste of perfectly good tie material.

  • I was kind of thinking the same thing throughout the video once I saw what she was doing.

  • She sounds like that chick from Superbad!

  • fucking creepy theres a guy or doll thingy in the mirror

  • that'd be neat to do.

i like the pocket mr. t haha

  • Hey around my neighborhood we don't got a goodwill but can I still use a thrift store?

  • why not!? thrift store, yard sale...your friend's closet.... Buying used clothing is recycling clothing, therefore it is environmentally friendly, and you get a lot of unique stuff that no one else has that is really cheap.

  • alright thanks hollyophobia!

  • AWESOME! We ised to make these out of crepe paper rolls in primary school. This is a cool twist. the only thing I might do different, is use either velcro or snaps on the tie ends. This way, you can take it apart and store it flat. Then next year, just make your chain again!

  • Great idea.

  • fun idea!... thanks

  • Yep! Instead of streamers for a birthday party, for example. That'd be fun.

  • I like the idea of reusing things. Too bad Christmas is over now though, but now that I think about it you could do this for any occasion :)
