i like all the Dave Dudley album covers that pop up. As another poster on here said, his material needs to be properly released on CD or MP3 at the very least. he recorded for a wide variety of independent labels in the late '70s and through the '80s...i wonder who owns those songs now.
The first record I ever listened to was my parents copy of Dudley's Greatest Hits...still have it. As a kid, he looked like such a towering figure on that cover. I wish he'd get the full CD reissue treatment.
I bought the same album in the mid 60's and still have it even though it's scratchy as hell, but I wouldn't part with it. You just get attached to certain records and even though you have them on CD sometimes you can't bear to part with them. Always liked Dave very much.
there is a performance of Dave and the uploader says it's 1999...it's a live performance from overseas. while listening I often wondered why in the world he went into semi-retirement as far as singing...he was still in fine voice in that clip. i was always curious if he simply got wore out touring or recording or there wasn't an abundance of independent record companies around anymore as to why he slowed down and kept a seriously low profile the last 10 years or so of his life.
Tarquin, I have been going through your marty Robbins songs, your collection is fantastic. I like this Dave Dudley Song, and I wonder If you have a song by Dave called "Let No Man Tell Me What ToDo" I have been looking for it for years, I would love to hear it again.
i wish someone could upload operation x and last day in the mines love those two hard to find songs>....

This song also could be used to describe life on the road sleeping in the bunk. Hiding behind the curtain!
