A stock 04-05 SRT-4 is a hair faster than a stock 03-06 350z. An 07-08 350z is a bit faster than a stock SRT-4 in a straight line, as is any 370z. The power to weight ratio for a 370z is 9.84lbs per hp while the SRT-4 has to move 12.6lbs per hp, also stock the 370z hooks up better throught the FR platform due to weight transfer. The gearing in the 370z is also better having a 6speed. It's fact the 370z performs better in all kinds of tests. I know alot of ppl that had an SRT4 neon, my friend still has one that has over 400hp. I know what they do stock.

Do all SRT-4's come stock turbo? I'm about to get a 350z, it's between a 04 basic, and a 03 touring, both 6 speed, the 04 is a little cleaner, and a lot lighter, and about 20k less miles. However been considering a SRT-4, but I don't know shit about them. I would get a 07 with the HR motor, but can't afford it.

Actually this is a pretty impressive showing by the SRT-4. I had an 04 SRT-4, and it was fast. I was getting 104+mph trap speeds. My next car was an 05 350z base (287hp VQ35DE), and my trap speeds were 100-102 at best in that.. I just recently got an 07 350z (VQ35HR), and I could tell just from the test drive that it was significantly quicker than my 05. But all this adds up to STOCK: HR 350Z > SRT-4 > VQ35DE 350Z. They're all great cars.. but that's the breakdown on pure speed.
104.6mph is a fast trap speed for an SRT-4 with just a short-ram intake. I know there are much faster cars out there, but you have to take it in context.

@WhatIThinke All years of 350z are great cars. There were some oil consumption issues with some of them, which were most frequent with the 300HP VQ35DE RevUp model used in some 05 and all 06 coupes. This being said, most 06's that you would buy used now would have either have not had this issue, or already had an engine replacement. The real difference in HP between a RevUp and an HR is more than 6hp. It's more like 10-15 since the SAE rating system changed for the HR. I'd still get an 06.
@WhatIThinke No matter which year and engine you get, they are all fast and reliable versus other cars in their category. I'm sure you will love an 06.

A lot of them are relatively cheap on ebay nowadays, im risking the flight out there and ive heard of a few issues with the rev ups (especially the manuals) so ill keep an eye out for signs of oil consumption, even the exhaust can tell a lot apparently (blue smoke on rev).
Id love a Nismo but they are really pricey still :(
If you can afford (and find) an 07 or 08 that you like, they're definitely the best. The interiors were changed and have a little more of an upscale look from 06-08. Just a few little touches that make the cockpit a bit nicer. The 05's are great because they're pretty cheap now and they have the 03-04 kinks worked out for the most part. Obviously go for the 07-08 with the HR engine if you can!

Remember, this is coming from someone who has owned both cars- Either the SRT-4 driver doesn't know how to drive his car, or the 350Z isn't stock. Stock for stock, from a roll an 04-05 SRT-4 is a hair faster than a 350z of any year. They put about 230hp and 250 lb/ft of torque to the wheels, and weigh 2900 lbs. I still like my 350z better for sure.. but the SRT-4 is no joke, and a monster from a roll with a decent driver.

Both are very nice cars. My last car was a 2004 SRT-4, and I loved it. I had some reliability issues because it had some miles on it and I beat it, but it was damn fast and fun. My current car is an 05 350z 6-speed. I traded the SRT-4 for it because 1) I love Z's, always have, I used to have a 300zx. and 2) Nissan reliability. I have to admit though, my SRT-4 was just a little bit faster. Even with a terrible 60-foot time I ran a 13.7 @ 104.6mph 1/4 mile in it with a bad clutch and motor mounts
These are the best kills. I love a good stage 1 car.. Then when they learn my Z is bone stock they usually have a break down. Its almost like clubbing baby seals and then watching an emo kid cut his wrist.

Zs have a lot of unrealized potential hidden in the tuning. If you read up on the designing of the Z nissan held back a lot of possible performance enhancing features for the sake of everyday drivability. (japanese manufacturers are more consumer needs driven unlike american manufacturers who cram horsepower into cars and shove them down your throat. its just a fact about how detriot works) tuning the Z alone can greatly increase the performance. stock vs stock srt-4s are faster, i prefer the Z.
this 350z has the new engine w/ 305hp not like the first ones w/ around 280hp. They're pretty fast I've seen one beat an 07 mustang gt in the 1/4 mile.
Do you have a single video or a time slip of a srt4 stock running mid 13s ? The fastest srt-4 stock is a 13.8@101 on dragtimes. Now heres the difference between dragtimes and people like you on youtube. Actually this is a pretty impressive showing by the SRT-4. I had an 04 SRT-4, and it was fast. I was getting 104+mph trap speeds. My next car was an 05 350z base (287hp VQ35DE), and my trap speeds were 100-102 at best in that.. I just recently got an 07 350z (VQ35HR), and I could tell just from the test drive that it was significantly quicker than my 05. But all this adds up to STOCK: HR 350Z > SRT-4 > VQ35DE 350Z. They're all great cars.. but that's the breakdown on pure speed.

104.6mph is a fast trap speed for an SRT-4 with just a short-ram intake. I know there are much faster cars out there, but you have to take it in context.

@hartsickdisciple im actually looking to buy an 06 or 07 350z, little bit of an issue with importing the 07 in Canada, some BS about the seatbelt position makes them not importable, but the 08 is fine, very strange (just out of my price range).
Do you recommend the 2006 350z given the above rank? it has the revamped 05 engine at 300 hp, may be the same as the 05 u had tho.

@WhatIThinke All years of 350z are great cars. There were some oil consumption issues with some of them, which were most frequent with the 300HP VQ35DE RevUp model used in some 05 and all 06 coupes. This being said, most 06's that you would buy used now would have either have not had this issue, or already had an engine replacement. The real difference in HP between a RevUp and an HR is more than 6hp. It's more like 10-15 since the SAE rating system changed for the HR. I'd still get an 06.

A lot of them are relatively cheap on ebay nowadays, im risking the flight out there and ive heard of a few issues with the rev ups (especially the manuals) so ill keep an eye out for signs of oil consumption, even the exhaust can tell a lot apparently (blue smoke on rev).
Id love a Nismo but they are really pricey still :(

If you can afford (and find) an 07 or 08 that you like, they're definitely the best. The interiors were changed and have a little more of an upscale look from 06-08. Just a few little touches that make the cockpit a bit nicer. The 05's are great because they're pretty cheap now and they have the 03-04 kinks worked out for the most part. Obviously go for the 07-08 with the HR engine if you can!

I'm stage 1 w/ intake/plugs/wires/short throw and had about 2 cars on a 350z w/ exhaust and intake.

srt 4 neon is like a turbo civic ..... you can take any pos car and put a turbo on it . its still a pos with a turbo. Another example Lancer Evolution is a Lancer with a turbo and awd. Build a regular lancer add awd and turbo charge it and you got yourself a Lancer Evolution oh yeah dont forget the ricer front end and spoiler cause it also has to look mean LOL.

Remember, this is coming from someone who has owned both cars- Either the SRT-4 driver doesn't know how to drive his car, or the 350Z isn't stock. Stock for stock, from a roll an 04-05 SRT-4 is a hair faster than a 350z of any year. They put about 230hp and 250 lb/ft of torque to the wheels, and weigh 2900 lbs. I still like my 350z better for sure.. but the SRT-4 is no joke, and a monster from a roll with a decent driver.

na i think wrong....the 07 z is faster then the srt-4...right when i got it i raced my friends with exhaust and took him down 95 a few times. srt-4s are pretty fast thought so yea im not hating. even when i race older z's i rape them...the hr pulls harder then other z's...and even an 06 z de with i/e cant take an hr

Both are very nice cars. My last car was a 2004 SRT-4, and I loved it. I had some reliability issues because it had some miles on it and I beat it, but it was damn fast and fun. My current car is an 05 350z 6-speed. I traded the SRT-4 for it because 1) I love Z's, always have, I used to have a 300zx. and 2) Nissan reliability. I have to admit though, my SRT-4 was just a little bit faster. Even with a terrible 60-foot time I ran a 13.7 @ 104.6mph 1/4 mile in it with a bad clutch and motor mounts

second, the Z is not bolt-on friendly than most other cars so when i hear people say that they beat a Z that had a few bolt ons do your homework before saying it's slow

Zs have a lot of unrealized potential hidden in the tuning. If you read up on the designing of the Z nissan held back a lot of possible performance enhancing features for the sake of everyday drivability. (japanese manufacturers are more consumer needs driven unlike american manufacturers who cram horsepower into cars and shove them down your throat. its just a fact about how detriot works) tuning the Z alone can greatly increase the performance. stock vs stock srt-4s are faster, i prefer the Z.

Now heres the difference between dragtimes and people like you on youtube. People on dragtimes actually race on the track, get their time slips submit their results on dragtimes with the slips/ videos as proof.
