@TheSpeedDemon7 I am an OTR driver and can easily tell you are a rookie. Volvo's make the best riding trucks out there, and their fuel economy destroys strait nose petes. The biggest cost to trucking companies is fuel. Not the driver pay, not the truck, but FUEL. Strait nose = high wind resistance. Its just retards thinking that the old style pete is the "manly truck" when in reality times have changed. Volvo makes a high quality machine, with good power and excellently smooth riding.
@gu151 I drove a Volvo or two when I was OTR and I agree with you. I thought it was the most user friendly truck out there. The cruise control should NEVER be on the dashboard, unlike what Freightshaker and the other manufacturers seem to think. I love how the gauges are all right in front of you where they belong, instead of all over the place like you are trying to fly a 747.
@336kgf you need to see the new breed trucks, the freightliner cascadia has moved the cruise control, jake brake, and marker interrupt to the steering wheel. Other makes are doing similar things as well. My truck of choice is the cascadia over the volvo's. They are pretty much equally nice but the cascadia has a better hvac setup. You can control the whole truck's (front and back) hvac from the sleeper controls while parked or independently while driving.
@killer2600 you might want to wait a couple years for Freightliner to iron out all the bugs, the cascadia has had major reliabilty problems, Whereas Volvo never bothered to fix the bugs in their trucks. I've never driven one that was reliable. I loved the Pete though, I drove a very old 377 that was trouble free.

you know something, Canada is the only area where I can say I was doing 120 easy :) 120 km/hr that is :) I've delivered to Canada from the states before and you have very good beautiful and scenic country up there from British Columbia to Nova Scotia and Quebec is very unique to explore and drive through. Spent one night in Rouyn-Noranda once at a Comfort Inn. 1st time I encountered a beer dispenser and got a pleasent "Bonjour" from the front desk clerk. All my TV stns were in French though:(

I worked for Volvo drive away out of Dublin, VA. They were not built all that well back in 2004. Their automatics sucked and apparently there is something wrong when your computer fuel gauge registers you as full after 1500 miles of driving. That is too funny and sad. I'd never own a Volvo and rather I drove a Peterbuilt, Kenworth, or Frieghtliner Classic with power windows :)
I work for swift... I started out with a columbia, then went to a volvo.. finally decided I wanted to be an owner/op so instead of keeping my volvo, I got a kenworth w900... god I miss my volvo. The kenworth is the biggest piece of crap I have driven to date.

Good choice for truck make. But I'm sure there is a Cummins ISX under the hood, biggest pile of $hit I have ever see or worked on. Should of have went with a Volvo all the way. Volvo truck with Volvo motor. Something like D13 or D16 would be nice.
ROFLMFAO, this was back around 2003 when I literally turned down a brand new Columbia. It already had a defect and I demanded to trade out with another driver back to an FLD. Also if you are a trainer, any particular reason why companies govern their trucks. You are literally not maxing out your mileage per day. That is not trucking, but more like control. Swift sucks and screws drivers. Been there done that. Still have my CDL though.

The Peterbilts and Kenworths are for the little guys with small dicks that want a long nose truck cuz they feel it makes them more of a man, but yet cant back those fuckin things worth a goddamn. Good choice for truck make. But I'm sure there is a Cummins ISX under the hood, biggest pile of $hit I have ever see or worked on. Should of have went with a Volvo all the way. Volvo truck with Volvo motor. Something like D13 or D16 would be nice.

ROFLMFAO, this was back around 2003 when I literally turned down a brand new Columbia. It already had a defect and I demanded to trade out with another driver back to an FLD. Also if you are a trainer, any particular reason why companies govern their trucks. You are literally not maxing out your mileage per day. That is not trucking, but more like control. Swift sucks and screws drivers. Been there done that. Still have my CDL though.

I never wanted to become a company yes man for Swift Transportation anyway as by that point I would've been supporting one big rosy lie. Truth of the matter is, trucking is as real world as it can get. I happy to have had a taste of it at the least and through Swift I was able to access Canadian provinces I thought I'd never see. It was all good. Still have my CDL, but since have moved on and working on my own thing now where I'm at unrelated to CDL work.

Nice trucks yes. Poor quality is a definite. Poor resale value is literally guaranteed. Kenworth or Peterbuilt with an 18 speed manual trans any day of the week over that Volvo crap and of course an ungoverned truck for once.
