Who cares if Kenny G doesnt play jazz? I listen to Kenny G because his music makes me think and relax. Sure, it may be "elevator music" to some of you jazz "purists" out there but spare a thought for all the jazz "purisist" musicians who have gone nowehere and busk on the streets just to survive. You wanna know why they ended up as failures? .... Its because their music didnt connect with people. THeir music didnt sound melodic and people grew tired of having to THINK about the next verse.

And to everyone here questioning my knowledge of jazz music, I play with the Cuesta College Jazz Ensemble. This last year, we got invited to play at monterey's Next Generation Jazz festival and we won first in our division at the Reno Jazz festival. (We won fourth over all at Reno I think, right behind University of Oregon and Fullerton) You don't get into a good jazz band unless you know something about jazz music.

@GRITO725 I usually don't get this heated about arguments, but It just pisses me off because it's not just Kenny G's music that I don't like. There are tons of "Jazz" musicians I could hound because I disliked their music, but I don't because they aren't popular. Kenny G is a hack and it just pains me to see people who think they know "jazz" music when really all they know is what Kenny G plays, which is hardly jazz music at all. What pisses me off is that he's ruining Jazz's name.

@hldemi Unfortunately, too many people. If Kenny G had his own genre, I would be significantly less pissed off about his music. That's why I'm not going out and bashing other music I dislike (like country, sorry, but I just hate it.) It just bothers me that Kenny G is considered a jazz musician by the majority.

You're correct. I don't play reed instruments. But I know musical BS when I see it. And you must be pretty bad at trombone if you can't see that Kenny G is out of tune. Seriously, you have to have a really good ear to even begin to be good at the trombone.

@TECUnicorn you actually probably couldnt make a decent note on the soprano, i play the trombone and saxophone, and believe me, soprano takes alot more air support than a trombone does, it took me about a month to build up the air support to play it, and for your information, he isnt out of tune, if he was, it would be obvious with a soprano.

@pookiemonika I actually play trombone in a very good college big band and intend to major in music thank you very much. And if you knew jack shit about jazz you would know that what Kenny G does to other's compositions is horrible and just a way for him to make money. So don't fucking hound me about not being able to "make" a note. (And I watched this because I read an article Pat Metheny wrote on why he hates Kenny G. I wanted to see if it was as bad as he said it was...and it absolutely is.)
