I personally like London Town, Cafe on the Left Bank, I'm Carrying, I've Had Enough, Children Children and Name & Address; the rest, I think, is from not so good (Girlfriend, Cuff Link) to the worst (e.g. Famous Groupies)
Thanks for that. After unthinkingly failing to check out Macca's post-Beatles stuff for years & then getting Ram & Band on the Run, still plenty to look forward to.
Thanks.Luckily I find dodgy or throwaway lyrics easy enough to let by if the music is good enough. The better the lyrics of course the better, but I think lyrics have maybe gotten a disproportionate amount of focus, compared to sound/rhythm of voice & music primarily about music.
@stalkek I would, if for no other reason than it was the last time Wings would be together in its original incarnation. Drummer Joe English and guitarist Jimmy McCullough quit, and then McCullough died of an OD.
It probably would have been a bigger success if it had been released at a different time. Punk was just starting to become all the rage. Still, I would definitely get it.
@cubdukat Thanks. Still haven't got it yet but that's as much as haven't seen it anywhere to buy - don't buy online. Giving this track another listen now, must certainly get hold of the album. Punk seems a necessary thing to happen but seems to have simplistically lumped all kinds of stuff in together as 'the enemy', apart from the particular prog abominations.
Still down as one of my best funkademia tracks!! Narcotics need not apply!! The London Town album was a rare electronica/folk tuney piece of music which will allways be with me, no doubt it inspired my curreny diverse genre in music!!
Tell u what, this is a proper tune for the 70's cats out there, a lot of funky guitar by our Paul!! Love it !! & Lots of nostalgia, why did he do ebony and ivory??
This sounds like Paul venturing into scoring the music for 1970's porn.

I think Paul McCartney had tried to do something like the song any colour you like from pink floyd i guess.

Is Linda playing keyboards on this? I knew she basicly played keyboard, but how bout for songs like this when it was at the forefront?

I expect paul did the main bits, also sounds like his drumming too

From previewing London Town on Amazon, this sounds very much a standout. Is the album as a whole worth getting?
stalkek 2 years ago
If you ask me, it is. I think the album is really great, almost every song is worth getting!

I've been listening to this album for nearly 20 years. It's not renowned but it's got some good songs on it. Just watch out for the dodgy lryics
