Seeing as this track was composed and recorded in the early 1960s, I'm guessing this song was a precursor to funk AND disco... as well as, of course, Soul Train.
FYI--I heard Herb Kent "The Cool Gent", long-time local DJ here in Chicago say that THIS is the original theme for Soul Train because ST originated in Chicago as a local (only) show. He was specific that it was "Hot Potato (Part1)" by the Rinkydinks. This tune is very (VERY) hard to find. Thanks for sharing.
