  • This is a good cover. A FUCKING good cover. Made the hair on my neck stand up. Brilliant.

  • I don't see why anyone says it's a bad cover, he gets across the underlying vibe of the original perfectly, if anything he makes it more apparent. Honestly if you think this is a bad cover then you obviously only took the original version at face value. Also if you were expecting mainstream perfect vocals why the hell are you looking through The Fall stuff? lol

  • made my way upstairs and had a smoke - aahh the good old days of west midlands bus travel - anyone that thinks this is a bad cover needs to get a grip.. it's a beauty

  • he doesnt like the high notes

  • Is there anyone who still hasn't heard 'Cheap Space Chant' ?

In YouTube, search for 'Timekode, Mark E Smith'

and listen to the strangest and best MES/Fall

    collaboration of them all...

  • lolwut?

  • the beatles were pussies in the sense that this could've been performed live without a fucking orchestra!

  • That's what you get for being a lazy hippy type: time to read the news today sometime.

  • sorry, but i think is everything ok with the cover, except the voice.

  • @21BlackG why doncha get a bit ironic while mr shakepeare even was, i mean ya never get spontaneity outta reason, never get cuteness out of actuality and this is just an expression of cynical apathy.

  • Meh.

  • Brilliant. Mark E Smith is a genius. The Fall are currently the tightest rock n roll band you can see. FACT.

  • Cheers 4 all the comments - it was so gr8 2 do it & I love the Libertines BUT I suspect that this version rules !!!!!!!!!

    :)

  • Very weak cover in my opinion, Libertines cover is much more superior

  • @Renegademaster15 fack awf you don't know shit about shit. The Fall pis all over those cuunts. I like Doherty actually but he's nowhere near Smith

  • @teqnoify I'm a big fan of The Fall actually, but this is an awful cover

  • Fucking genius rendition of this track, off the superb SGT PEPPER KNEW MY FATHER lp. And produced for a Very good cause.

    Rich

  • I was expecting this to be a trainwreck when i clicked on it, but it's actually pretty bloody good!

  • ahhaha that`s funny that there iis final speech from the original version is reversed here

  • better than their cover of victoria by the kinks

  • I really wanted 2 show that The Fall did what they did deliberately & that we could do a Beatles' tune really well if we wanted 2 - gr8 help from Simon Rogers & Marcia Schofield

    grant showbiz

  • You certainly pulled it off Grant - check out John Cooper Clarke's 36 Hours, for no other reason that it's another genius recording from the North West.

  • @granlife Hope you're the real deal mate, if so a lot of your work rocked!

  • as far as I am able to judge: I think this songtext is so good that M Smith could have written it. So it does not surprise me that for 1 time the Fall copies some band. In the end you have to become what you used to hate.

  • my favourite covor by the fall is jingle bell rock, best song is job search

  • mark must hold some reverence for the beatles because they sound like they really worked at this cover. one of the best covers they have done IMO.

  • All- Definately a great cover ..something about the voice, the attitude..the natural way it rings...some may say it's a crime, but for me, it's better than the original.

    Canada, out! Cheers

  • Oh wow! I actually think this is a really good cover.

  • thank's for sharing this one this is the first time av heard it, although av known about it for ages "grabbed ma coat an grabbed ma stash" a guess some things are worth waiting for cheers.

  • mark you bloody legend you

  • Wow! been a Fall fan for a long time - never knew they covered this Beatles tune! - Awesome cover by Mark & band - cheers! for posting!!!

  • It's alright..

  • mattisprettycoo - Far, Far Better mate than "alright.."!!!

  • One tough song to cover, kudos Mr Smith!

  • Song's made for Mark.
