I'm no expert by any means but what if commercial airliners had the ability to drop the engines off of the wings before a touchdown so that they don't rip the hull apart to to the drag???

@IbnShahid The reason the plane crashed was that the Hijackers wanted to land in Australia, but there was not enough fuel to go that far.Out of 100+ passengers, about 55 survived this crash, more WOULD have survived, except for the plane breaking up causing many deaths, and the majority were killed because they inflated their life jackets before the plane hit the water, causing them to be stuck inside as the water level rose, so they drowned. The plane ran out of fuel

@IbnShahid and the pilot was smart enough to plan ahead so he'd been heading towards this area w/o the hijackers knowledge so that he'd stand a chance of a safe landing and rescue effort, vs landing in the middle of the ocean somewhere between there and australia.

@coldfarted A 737 can fly for up to 10 hours, which is what the hijackers read. But, the plane was on a short distance flight and only carried under 4 hours worth of fuel for that flight. Thus, if the hijackers new it took 10 hours to get to Australia, they would've knew that the pilot was bullshitting because they're aware of time. Think before you post dumbshit.

so check it, the copilot Leul Abate was attacked with an ax during the hijacking, and when the plane ran out of fuel he fought the three hijackers by himself while the pilot attempted to ditch the plane in shallow waters. Both pilots survived. 50 of the 175 survived. 80 died from drowning because of inflating their lifevests inside the aircraft.
