yeah so drivetrain weight has nothing to do with the power it puts down, just how fast it accelerates. Hence why taller gearing doesnt produce less power
torque is twisting force, and HP is just torque at a given workrate (twisting force multiplied by rpm)
You need to remember, Torque at the wheels will be multiplied depending on what gear your in, what diff gears your running, and what size rims you are using. All of these factors have the effect of multiplying Torque.
peak torque and power figures are meaningless in isolation: If I put taller gearing on your car, it would read less torque and power
It still applies the same twisting force as you say, it just does not twist as quick.
The gear they run has one with a 1.0:1 ratio. If what you were saying was true, they would have crazy gear ratios with 14" rear wheels in order to get higher readings, which they dont.
If you disagree, call a dyno operator and ask the exact reason why, i had asked and because i disagreed i got given a super detailed reason why, but i cant remember.
haha i dont need to call a dyno operator i am not the one who cannot remember. if you have any other questions or need any tips automotive related in the future i am happy to help explain these concepts as they can be a little hard to grasp at first
yeah thats cool mate not everyone needs to know why exactly it works, im just the sort of person that likes to understand things like that but thats just me. if you change your mind and do want to understand it you can reread my comments above or send me a message. im always happy to help i find it really satisfying teaching people and helping them to improve their knowledge.
@mr camycash, having taller gearing will have absolutely no baring on how much hp u make.
Only difference it will make is what speed u make the power at, if u make 100 hp with 3.08 ratio u will make 100 with 4.11 ratio.
U might go from making it at 100km to 70km bcos the shorter gearing makes the engine rev quicker.

yeah it might be the rims on the car he could prob get over 2000

power output from the motor has NOTHING to do with the rim weight. My name should say it all for you

power on the dyno is measured at the wheels mate

sweet soon everyone will put 13 inch wheels and 6.12 diff ratios to win dyno comps then right?
Ive spent plenty of time on dynos, i dont need to know why exactly it works, just that it does.
Think what you want, and if your right, go find some extra hp from your local wheel or diff shop

cars make more power with taller gearing because horsepower figures favour distance(rpm) over torque
