Unfortunately you'll notice that the cabinets are voiced to make the output of the amp sound decent. If you plugged in a better head it would sound bad through those cabs. You could try to replace the speakers with v30s or something but the construction of the cabinets may still make it sound crappy. But luckily the extra cab only put you down another couple hundred in this case. That amp is certainly usable. I own one which i use for practice.
Dude, 120W cabs means 120W Max input, your head is 100W, which means that's what it puts out. So your system isn't 340W, it's 100W.... nice cabs though.
Wow so much anger. This guy has been given a Marshall stack, if he develops his playing ability he can make his own decisions on the quality of the kit.
Sure a Marshall Tube is going to sound better, but some folk need to make the best of what their budget can offer. A shit guitarist will still sound shit playing through the best guitar and best amp in the world.People need to get good at playing, then worry about whether they need to shed out loads of money on a valve amp.
guys, this kid is like 12 years old, he doesnt need a tube amp, but i would recomend line-6 way more than marshall. anyway, hes not playing at warped or mayhem or any tours so leave him alone
Tone is subjective- I won't base anything I argue off of that. However, with it being made of MDF, you aren't going to have fun lugging that around. The cabs made sound okay, with a speaker change (I'd recommend Eminence, as anything Celestion is overpriced and not really that great.) and you'll get a much tighter, versatile sound. Also, MDF is much more fragile than plywood. You'll never need more than one 4x12 with 50w and efficient speakers. Even then, that's overkill.
why is everyone posting hate comments? it was his decision to buy it, and it might not be the best sounding amp but .... who cares? ( the neighbors maybe ) but he wanted it and its not your money he is using so just shut up please!
Shut the fuck up woth ur stupid somment u probably got from school. " get off my nuts" btw retard its not 240 Watts of sound the head only puts out 120 watts rms. Even if u had 1500 watts cabs you'd get only 120 watts of sound
I got one too, sounds great too for a solid state! I laugh at all the ass clowns that call em shit amps, or go and spend thousands on a tube amp.....F**K OFF wankers,
TONs of effects peddles out there, that will give you the same sound as a tube amp, so you all you experts on TUBE amps, 5 bucks and your right nut, I bet you would still sound like shit playin any kind of amp,
And it's a bit of a shame buying this when it could have gone towards something which is really useable. These aren't bad for practicing, but performing they do not have the right sound.. the volume isn't enough.
Lol MG's suck complete dick. So do the cabs. Your parents wasted their money. Once you play a real marshall tube head through a real cab with celestion 75's You'll see the difference. Get any marshall JCM series or JVM series heads through marshall 1960a or b Cabs.
you went froming nailing your dad to nailing your mom you went froming nailing your dad to nailing your mom you went froming nailing your dad to nailing your mom
Is that a 100watt max power head? If so, then his whole system is only going to be as powerful as the head unit, 100watts. 340watts is like having a car with a 600w head unit, 2x 3500w subs, 2x 1750w amps, and 4x 300w speakers and then telling people you have a 12,300w system in your car, when in actuallity it's just a 4100w system at 100% volume, which your cabinet will have to be at full volume in order to get that 100watts.
lol, dude, im the same age as u (just saw ur comment about being 13 or w/e) and im getting the same amp. btw ive played the MG's before, along with higher end marshall amps, and dont listen to people who trash talk the MG's. theyre fine for what they are, and certainly better than other brands solid state amps.
Just because your cabinets are called '120 watts' doesn't mean they give out that much power, it means they can handle that much power, so your 100 watt head is all you're getting, you're not getting 340. you nub. And the MG series sucks, sell that and get a nice 30 watt all valve Marshall combo, you will really see the difference. Valve is definitely FTW. x
Nobody needs a full stack lmao, you need a half at most!!!!!! Hell i settled on buying marshall 1936 2x12 cab cuz it's all you need. You should have done that, which would save money on buying two full cabs and you could put more money into a REAL head, like a used Peavey, or Tube marshall (900, dsl, tsl) It's all about priorities dude, A full stack is for pure looks, considering when you a play a show they mic 1 maybe 2 speakers and then you got 6 just doing shit all.
nice amp. I used to have the first Mg half stack but was never happy with the tone. The other day I bought one of the new MG 15 watters for a practice amp and it has great tone. I have owned many many tube amps the past few years also and have one of the new 6505+ 112 amps. I also had a 6505+ half stack. These new MG4's actually do sound great so dont let anyone tell you otherwise. For rock and old school metal these amps NAIL the tone perfectly.
@jjaarr112233 you would be best off getting a single 1960 lead cab (300 watts RMS) and any second hand tube Head if your going to be playing in a band. I have a old 1980s soldano at 50 watts through a 1960lead 300 watt cab that drowns out a drum kit on 4 and it goes to 11! all that aside, congrats on your first Marshall. Its not so much your head that sucks, its those MG cabs. GL lil bro:)
@xxStratxx69 You serious bud? Immense moron? What a fucking insult. Is this your way of boosting your self esteem? Lipping some kid on YouTube? Easythere tough guy.
should got a krank the krank rev jr. which is 2X12 that are 150 watts each so that 320 watts with 1\4 of that powered by a 20watt tube head is loudered that a mesa rectifier half stack and the full krankestein was enough to blow my hair to the other side of my head at as low as it possible could but still thats a major upgrade from what you had
but dude, im 13 years old, i just got my first gig. im early on in a hopefull career, and i plan upgrading the head. but once i have some money ill consider the rev jr. so for now get off my nuts
