I thought the nurses in SH2 were creepier in comparison, the way they walked was more convincing of demonic possession. Although I do think the hyperventilating is unnerving, you can even hear it while accessing the inventory. Also note that some of them have pistols now.

In Silent Hill 2, when Pyramid Head attacks as he thrusts his spear, his grunt is almost identical to James' grunt when he is hit by an enemy.

Plus, Pyramid Head's footsteps are the same sound as James when he falls to his knees watching Maria die.
