  • this sounds like a great idea while just a very few people are doing this, but if this became mainstream and everyone used oil in their car, wouldn't the air that we breathe be filled with grease (clogging up our lungs, blurring our eyes and making everything in the world sticky or slimy)?

  • Is the car still running now? 2-18-11?? I have a veggie truck 2005 dodge diesel. Paid the expencies got the oil kept up with the cost, if any one is willing to ask I have information on the whole conversion.

  • why can't the car be gasoline car?

  • the college had a project to get the merc running of veg oil!? these mercs run fine without any modification!! i've been running mine for last 2 years on almost 100% veg oil!

  • Mr. Diesel first ran his Diesel engine on peanut oil!

It is the wave of the future.

  • Very interesting. Thanks for sharing.

  • pshhh wat retards why convert it...just put the veggie oil in the main tank...the conversion is such a waste of money

  • cylindricalpain, the reason they converted it to a twin tank is because cars wont start when cold on pure veg oil, in colder climates the veg oil starts to solidify this is why they use heaters. i use white spirits to thin my veg oil and have run my twin tank car for over 36,000 miles using only diesel to start up in the mornings. you can of course use a single tank set up and run a mix of 50/50 veg oil and diesel, but that defeats the object really.so i wouldnt say they are retards, just clever.

  • well...ide just guy one of those gas tank warmers

  • yes but you need the engine to be warm for that to work, and to start it to get it warm you need diesel, hence the seperate tank.

  • yeah, and when their injectors get clogged because of the thick oil, I think they'll think different.

  • now they can have a car with 1 tank that uses diesel and vegtable

  • FAKE

  • retard yea right why is it on the news

  • um...dude...you believe everything you see on youtube dumbass? (does an impression of you in my best hick voice) aw shucks now Cletus...i sawed it on the computer. it musta been real...i don't think they can get people to act like them fancy smart news people and such.

  • haha, best impression of a mindless youtube poster EVER!

  • haha that guy PWNED you

  • yeah, no doubt

my brother had a VW Rabbit running on veggie, but I guess he was lying to me while I was riding in it.

  • radicalnotion how can it be fake? i have been doing this for almost 3 years.

  • well you must be fake

  • how can i be fake?! lol. havent you seen all the youtube videos on cars running on waste veg oil? are you saying all those are fake too? dont be a retard, accept the truth that diesel cars run on veg oil but i guess with your short attention span you just dont get it. what car do you run? if its a diesel try sticking some veg oil in it and then you may believe the truth.

  • wow, for a little hippie..you sure resort to name calling pretty quick. maybe you should change your attitude along with your means of locomotion. that is cool you understand your impact on the environment but please understand your impact on the social environment. on the people you interact with. calling me a retard demeans me, you, and the mentally challenged. don't let that be your legacy. i was merely kidding. calling you fake was obviously a silly joke. learn to laugh. smile.

  • i am smiling :-}

  • couldn't you also use fresh veggi oil or not although using used veggi oil is a for recycling

  • Not to mention YOU CAN'T find a diesel car if your life depended on it.

  • That's not true at all.

  • hahaha. she said "fwench fwies" :P

and wat's the point of saying "auto technologies"?? i should be either "automotive technologies" or straight up "auto-tech" lol. would've been understandable if she did it live, but she didn't... hahaha.

oh ya, if ppl are interested, there's a movie called "blood car" that's similar to this concept of alternative fuel, it's pretty funny. check it out! (not here to promote it, btw.)

  • Bkelvie:

Correction. Vegetable oil has by no means caused this. You are thinking of ethanol, a fuel that is derived from raw, processed corn products, with thus prevents that corn from turning into food. This car uses oil that would otherwise be thrown away by fast food companies. It's basically recycling grease instead of pouring it down the drain, which the fast food companies have been doing for years.

  • was responding to bkelvie

  • u cant be serious....

  • Then stadiums, racetracks and golf courses need to be converted to farms to grow more food. How can it lead to starvation anyway when it's USED that's being used? Used cooking oil means that food is being cooked to feed people. People don't eat used cooking oil, so how can you possibly say that it "leads to starvation in some countries"?

  • This type of fuel actually contributes to Global warming! Read the article in last month's TIME magazine!

  • All fuel except for that which comes from wind or solar contributes to global warming. And even wind and solar does if you count the materials used to manufacture wind turbines or photovoltaics. Just be happy that we are looking for alternatives to oil. This is just one step. Hopefully we find "the answer" before it's too late!

  • There has to be several alternatives for alternate fuel and enegery sources. If the greedy idiots in Washington keep accepting bribes from the oil companies, we need to vote them out of office.

  • its time to go back on the ponies;u better buy one before they rise the prices.u dont haft to do nothing and ride 40 miles and hour for free

  • good

  • U R A superstitious moron madsevin

  • i dont even have a closset!

  • She needs to pause when she speaks.

  • lol yeah.

  • Great .. but 95% of all cars in the US are run on GAS. So NOW what?

  • So NOW what, you ask ?

    Ethanol.

  • Ethanol wouldn't be ideal because the price of corn would go up drastically.... which is just as bad.. I'm thinking half electric half solar.

  • Electric or solar still does not resolve the fact that there are millions of cars already running around in the US - unless you want to buy everyone a car :D

Electric is worse than gas because at least with gas, we can grow plants, like hemp, that clean the air and land quicker, and reuse it. Used batteries leave behind toxic chemicals and dangerous metals that are not easily recyclable.

There is an abundance of energy readily available, even in the air. In it lies the solution.

  • Disposing of batteries isn't harmful to the environment if you do it correctly. If you throw it out in the garbage, of course it's going to cause problems, but it doesn't have to be that way.

  • This still doesn't resolve the issue of the fact that we already have cars running on gasoline. Unless it is already rated for E85, ethanol is useless to most cars in the US. It eats up all the hoses, gaskets and o-rings. Switching to propane is not the answer because it's just as non-renewable as gasoline.

There is a solution. But as long as the idiots in Washington continue to accept bribes from big oil, they will never allow it to see the light of day.

Simply put, we need Ron Paul.

  • ya biodiesel. so? its been around forever. big deal. eats your hoses.

  • Carefull I have seen Cars go up in flames doing this , I know a friend who tried this and fried up the whole thing

  • why are they modding it? if its a desil just throw oil in it

  • He says the diesel is used to help it start.... starting the car cold on just vegetable oil can be rough, because the cold vegetable oil becomes more viscous. Thats just a minor downfall though, and the car does still start.

You are right though it is possible to run it on straight vegetable oil with out the conversion costs.

  • In Holland it's illegal to use vegetable oil as fuel for motor or heating, for it's not (high)taxed. A few experiments excepted...

  • It's just going to raise the price of vegetable oil.

  • The vegetable oil is free. It's just a waste product thrown out by the restaurants . . . millions of pounds of it!

  • It is free now. But eventually someone is going to make a business out of it. I would build a shop where I collect all the used oil and filter and put them in canisters and sell it cheaper than gas.

  • Do it.

Start a movement of it. I think it would be a great idea.

  • Even if someone makes a business out of it, people can still buy the store, use it, then put it in their cars.

  • Even if someone makes a business out of it, people can still buy OIL AT the store, use it, then put it in their cars

  • They are talking about used oil. And the oil at the stores are expensive than used oil.

  • Make a contract and collect used oil. Filter them, get it ready for use then sell $1.50 per gallon. 1.50 would cover my costs and 50cent profit.

  • Most people are too lazy to do all the things should be done with oil before using it. $1 per gallon isn't bad, it is clean and cheap.

  • Ford originally designed cars to run on corn oil.

  • i have never heard of sticky rings using veg oil,and the amount of people that use veg oil i am sure someone would have come up with that by now. i have done 35,000 miles no problem

  • the co2 coming out of a regular car was stored as oil underground for 200 million plus years. The co2 coming out of a veggie car is about a year old, whenever the plants that made the oil pulled it out of the atmosphere. cool beans.
